Short story idea I have from my dreams
 

most dreams make little sense but in my case it's something frequent. It's even a constant factor that I'm not even in the dream. I frequently dream of characters and situations. Of course dreaming is messy so it's not easy to write even a small drabble out of it, but sometimes I can make a little sense of them enough to write something, like this.

I wrote this particular short story out of a dream I had last night, please forgive me for any spelling mistakes I may have, english is not my first language, I'm a spanish speaker. If enough people comment I may continue to post stories based on my random dreams.



the story itself:

they were lost n their own lttle happiness until destinyy pointed it's cruel finger at them, a young lord named Arthur lived happily with his family, he never expected that what he took for granted would all be taken away from him.

The young lord named Artur had a hobbie of studying magic, which he had taken after a scary childhood experience. It happened that strange accidents began to happen in his residence, making him uneasy. So he decided that he needed to find out the source of such odd happenings. His close friend Asher said he would go ask the supreme magician Erul for his opinion, about what may be
causing this problems.

The young lord feared for his friend's safety so he decided to send a homunculi he had created alongside his friend as protection, said homunculi looked like him, it was normal for his homunculi to resemble him, and such beings had a very short lifespan so he used them as doubles for carrying out troublesome duties, they don't have a mind of their own, and will only obey their master's wishes. When the young lord was sending them off his younger sister Ely saw them and was surprised at seeing the homunculi, but Arthur explained her the situation and she was once more at ease.

Then after the two men had left he impatiently awaited for news from what the old supreme magician might say of his problem. However ever since they had left, more accidents had happened and Arthur was very worried, specially for the sake of his younger siblings Thomas and Ely, and also for his twin cousins' sake.

It happened that he was walking inside the secret corridors of his castle when suddenly a wall mounted mirror almost fell on him, if it had he might have been seriously hurt, but somehow it didn't. He was shocked because it was the first time such a dangerous thing happened. While looking at it he was surprised to see his best friend coming down the corridor. His black hair was disheaveled and he was deathly pale, with blood covering part of his face and clothes, he was walking with difficulty and seemed on the brink of death.

Asher saw him and began to speak quickly knowing his time was short. He said "All this time I was never able to leave this place, the homunculi stopped me from doing so by force. I have been watching without being able to do anything to stop the madness that's going on, all I've been doing is trying to prevent their traps from hurting anyone badly but it's taken a toll on me and I can no longer do anything about it. You have to be very careful not only about the mad homunculi but also of the twins, they are eve worse, they are both deranged and very dangerous, take care...my friend" after saying that he fell to the floor dead.

The young lord rushed to his side but it was already too late. He became fearful and also felt very lonely. It was then that he remembered the childhood incident he had when he was very young.

At that time he was a child, his mother had just passed away. It happened that his father had invited a man of science to his residence because one of his reptilian experiments had gone very wrong and he needed help to deal with it. The old Lord had been trying to create reptile homunculi for the sake of protecting his castle from dangerouns thiefs and assasins that had been attacking the region lately.

They were discussing the matter and the old lord showed him the hidding places he had prepared in case they were attacked by the thieves, he even invited him to visit one of them, to which the scientist agreed glady. And so, they both entered the secret room which was a level above the floor, behind a large tapestry.

It then happened that the young boy Arthur heard some noices and realized the thieves had already entered the castle, he became very scared and told his little sister to hide in a small space that existed inside a chimney. He decided to hide himself inside a secret room that existed inside the wall, the room was huge and was filled with old furniture, mostly old beds and couches, and the far side of the room there was a bookshelf that covered another secret room, which is where he went to hide.

He didn't had the time to close the door to the secret room where the furniture was, because the mechanism was too slow, or perhaps it was flawed, but he was able to hide succesfully in the small room behind the books. His father had created that room in the belief that rude people that would steal were unlikely to appreciate reading or books in general. From inside that place the boy saw as the thieves stole many things, and could only be greatful he and his sister had been able to hide on time. After that happened his father became troubled because many valuable things were lost and he didn't had the funds to replace them, so he had to remarry, he wed a young heiress from a rich family, it had been from that marriage that his little brother had come to be. It was shortly after his brother was born that some family members of the old lord's new wife had passed away, leaving their two twin boys alone in the world. Because of this situation the twins had come to live with them. The twins had kept to themselves and didn't talk with anyone but themselves. It was know that Arthur thought the twins must have cause all the magic to go wrong and the weird things to happen but he had no idea how that could've happen, as far as he knew they didn't had any magical training but he could never distrust his friend's last words. So he set out to discover the solution to the mystery .....
