Ticking in my head...
..but the bomb won't explode. I've been wanting to write something new and there is just nothing going on that is making me really want to. That feeling of really wanting it down on paper. I have these ideas but when I try to really develop and dive into my characters/story line, I realize that perhaps it wasn't such a great idea. So I've been literally writing and throwing away ideas. Like just writing and trashing it all. Nothing seems to be sticking.
I'm a bit of a comedic writer mixing a bit of romance in the mix but I also enjoy supernatural settings. I'm not sure how incorporate these things and make it good. Each time I try, it seems cheesy and not exactly someone would read. Does anyone have any ideas or advice for me? :shock: |
Hm, yes. I've had this problem for years, almost every day! That idea that just... has no way of getting onto paper, despite the idea being a good one, I just cannot get the beginning out in a way that sounds as good as it does in my head.
I'm not much on romance and comedic stylings, but I do like supernatural. All I can really say is.... Just write. Start and don't stop, even if it sounds bad at first. You can get a little into it, then go back and revise the beginning of it, but it will take a lot of patience not to just throw out that first few pages and restart from the beginning. I'm just going off a completely clean slate, but what you said about not really knowing how to incorporate all the styles of comedy, romance, and supernatural got me wondering as well.... Perhaps an entire family possesses the ability to see, speak with, and make contact with spirits, but also darker creatures of the spirit world, and one of these family members manages to fall for a particular spirit that lingers around a little too long. While the family is absolutely shocked, the darker creatures of the spirit world sense this odd change and try to stop it. Just because it's dark hardly means it cannot be comedy! But then again, this is my idea, and now I'm rambling. I hope I helped in the least bit.... |
