Menewsha Avatar Community - Happy Mother's Day (Script)

This is a script that I wrote for a production that myself and a few others are doing in college. (: I also have a treatment of it I'll post up tomorrow.

The car pulls up into the car park of the cemetery. The camera then moves from outside the car to inside, where you can see Robert turning off the engine. Charley is sitting in the back seat, looking glum. Connie is in the front seat, glaring angrily but clutching a bouquet of flowers on her lap.

Robert: Take as long as you need, I'll head off for a coffee and swing back for you when you're ready. (said kindly)

Charley: Thanks. (said softly)

Connie: Whatever (loud, with a tone of disinterest)

Connie leaves the car first, camera goes to a front view of her getting out of the car and shutting the door. She then walks around the front of the car. Camera goes into the car again to show this through the windscreen and Robert sighing. Charley follows. Camera then shows the sisters walking into the cemetery together, Connie walking fast and Charley about three paces behind trying to catch up.

Cuts back to the twins walking to the back of the cemetery and stopping in front of a gravestone.

Connie: Mum... (said softly, barely more than a whisper)

Connie bends down by the grave and picks up wilted flowers that lay there. She hands them to Charley.

Connie: Do something useful for once in your life and go put these in the bin. (angry tones)

Charley doesn't say a word, she walks in the direction of the gates to dispose of the flowers. As she walks a black cloaked figure can be seen in the background, but the camera doesn't focus in on this.

A few steps further a woman appears as if from no-where. She is talking to herself but very few words can be recognised. She suddenly laughs loudly, startling Charley who quickly changes the direction that she is walking in.

The scene then goes back to Connie who is sitting by her mother's grave, artfully arranging the flowers. A wind blows which makes Connie look around with unease.

Snapping back to Charley who is at a bin which is located near the gates, she disposes of the flowers. A man suddenly appears behind her, clutching a bottle in a paper bag.

Joe: Yer a pretty one... (said in a way that is creepy, yet also reminiscent of Hagrid)

Charley: (there is no dialogue, just a squeak of terror)

Charley then proceeds to jog back to the graveside where her sister is. This should be shown.

Camera then cuts back to Connie who stands up to look at the grave. The camera moves back to show the cloaked figure from earlier walking towards Connie. With a slight move of it's arm an axe is brought up into the air and cracks down on Connie's back. She gives a croak and then falls forward onto the grave. The cloaked figure picks up the axe and then removes the hood. Camera then does a close up of the face.

Robert: Happy Mother's Day (said in sinister tone)

He puts the hood back on and walks off. The camera stays on Connie's body for a few seconds before footsteps can be heard.

Charley: Connie? Connie?! Connie! (the first one is said quietly, the second more panic filled and the last in complete shock)

Charley bends down at her sister and checks her pulse. After a moment she stands up, backs away slowly, and then screams loudly. She runs down to the main gates of the cemetery.
