When I read your writing, I can't help but feel a similar atmosphere with one of my story. XD maybe because of the fantasy setting and also your care on names. I love making up names.
Character wise... so far, it is something I like. I always like story with heroine. XD
I can start imagining the long dead language that is on her body... glowing. Hopefully those language is in great design.

I am at lost on what kinda suggestion you want? Can you be more specific?

Fish 09-27-2014 03:52 PM

I suppose a way I can improve things? Um, ugh, I don't know..

xuvrette 09-27-2014 04:16 PM

Let's start simple...
do you even know what you want to write? anything at all?
Or is that paragraph the end of story?
Do you know what to do next? (what you want to do? not necessary right or wrong, but do you have something else in mind?)

Fish 09-27-2014 06:30 PM

Well, I'd like to expand more for her, but I'm not sure what to do next
Maybe tell what it was like for her growing up?

There are many elements to work on in storybuilding. Have you got your basic description of your:
1. Character.
2. Setting.
3. Plot

Since you like to expand on Character. There are also many elements about Character.
Her look? personality? history like you said. quirks and perks. style. even her clothing. <3
How about the more minor characters?

Of course, how detail you want to do depend on which type of writer you are.
Are you more to planning or discovery type?
Planning to the minute detail. Discovery create as you write the story along.
Whichever way, I am sure even for Discovery they need to have some basic info to start.
and even for Planning, details or plan could be changed when writing the stories.
Whichever you feel like doing or motivated to.

This is so helpful. Thank you!
I'd have to say I'm a mix of both, though, I think I'm a discoverer and then a planner.

I know Io likes to sit on the statue of Atmis while she studies and practices her magic in one of the smaller temples, she loves it there.

I'm not sure what Atmis looks like yet, but he is notorious for his shapeshifting. As for Elka', she is a doe with antlers entwined with flowers and small bushes where birds like to frequent.

Good, good, at least you have some 'tidbits' of info to work on. Most of the time, those tidbits are the essential part of character building.

Goddess of Life is an animal? It is fine though.
Work on what you have the ideas, then work on things you want to get done.
You have to capture ideas fast, no matter whether you end up using them or not.

Fish 09-28-2014 08:22 AM

That are all animals.. lol
My brain is kind of dead right now

xuvrette 09-28-2014 11:01 AM

Wha? IO is an animal too?

Fish 09-28-2014 04:32 PM

Yes, she is a rabbit. lol

xuvrette 09-28-2014 10:50 PM

LOL. I didn't realize that. <33 makes them sweeter.

Fish 09-28-2014 11:21 PM

hehe yes! :3
She has silver eyes, and the inside of her ears are a very light pink and is also partially deaf in her right ear from an explosion spell that back fired when she was little

xuvrette 09-29-2014 11:13 AM

I hope the animals in your story are the cute types when illustrate in image. XD
Cause I am not a fan of realism.

Fish 09-29-2014 01:08 PM

heh I think they're cute :3

xuvrette 09-29-2014 01:37 PM

So how many animals you have in the story?

Fish 09-29-2014 04:02 PM

I...have no idea. I don't think there are that many.. At the moment three or four perhaps more

xuvrette 09-29-2014 10:47 PM

Just curious. XD Do you know your ending yet?

Fish 09-30-2014 12:03 AM

Nope not at all lol

xuvrette 09-30-2014 10:36 AM

Discovery writer!
You know about NaNoWriMo?

Fish 09-30-2014 02:08 PM

A little, but I don't know exactly what it is

xuvrette 09-30-2014 02:31 PM

National Novel Writing Month = NaNoWriMo.
As the name said clearly. It is a month to crank out a novel.
The official month being November.
The official target is 50k words.
It is a month of people cranking out at least 50k words.
They have a website, you can visit the forum, there are plenty of help. Including all aspect of storybuilding.

Fish 09-30-2014 03:00 PM

I'm honestly not sure I'd be able to do that.. lol
Not sure I'd be able to hit 50k
I know it gets up there when you start writing, but it'd be hard for me. I've never been too big with writing.

xuvrette 09-30-2014 10:43 PM

You never know if you don't try.
I just like that it get me writing.

Modern story... with... animal character? *tilts head*

Fish 09-30-2014 10:59 PM
