She never knew where she came from.
She referred to her 'mother' and 'father' often, though they were never seen around or heard off. She, herself, did not truly remember them.
Though, this was probably for the best.
At six, your life consists of those two older people you deem worthy of every little thing that happens in your life should be known too, and fixed by. Since she'd somehow managed two break the 'curse', as her Aunt called it, she had come to live with said Aunt and her family.
The family was askew as any, perhaps even more so, but it was warm and rarely ever was it boring. She loved it, and had found the two 'special' people quickly.
The first was the man, or young man, we should say, that no one would expect.
He'd had a young child like her on his arm before, but the child was unstable and was disposed of--she was rarely mentioned around him. He was startlingly tall, or to her, and had a shock of bright red hair, but those kind, dark eyes and gentle hands were what brought her to him.
The lady, or young girl, was of four years younger to his nineteen. She was a clever, sarcastic girl of whom you'd take a quick liking, or a fast feeling of hate. There was never any in between.
Though, these two had, well, one had no interest in the other more so than friends. For you see, the young man currently had a boyfriend.
Yes, a boyfriend.
This was unnerving and slightly down putting of the young woman, but the small girl paid no mind--the two were the best of friends.
Bringing of these two, brings another problem or perhaps no so much so, for the young man's boyfriend was causing him great discomfort.
He could no be sure on his feelings for the other man, and the more time he spent with the girls, the more attached be became. Eventually, it was only those two whom could make him smile.
The young woman constantly torn at the boyfriend's throat, accusing him of being cruel the the man of which he set her love in, and of whom she'd never tell.
But, when you're six, you tend not to understand things, and this is the plight in which Emmiline became the middle stone.
She was the balance beam on which the young man stood, for her good, and his own, would he choose the girl, or the boy?
Emmiline, such a small girl with no idea of the powers her 'family held, thinking them all human, thinking her origin human...thinking.
When you're six, the world revolves around you.
But, what if it really did...?
