So... This is gonna be pretty long, but it's something I'd like to share. It's one of my favorite creative writing pieces that I decided to turn into a full story. If you want to read it, just tell me and I'll give you the link to the full story.
I went to walk by the Clemens' house when I saw a boy passed out in the front yard. His black hair was long and messy and his skin was pale. He looked very ill, and his breathing was ragged as I turned him over to check to see if he was alright. I was CPR certified, but he didn't seem to need that.
"Hello?" I asked, shaking him gently, "Are you alright?"
He didn't respond. There were no cars in the driveway, and the lights were off inside. I had no choice but to pick him up and carry him inside myself. He was too light for a guy my age. I carried him into the living room where I put him on the couch. I found a phone on the wall, and immediately dialed 911.
He woke up a minute or two after I hung up the phone. I turned around to find icy blue eyes staring back at me.
"Hey," I said, walking toward him, "My name's Chastity Skulden. I found you in your yard. The ambulance is on their way."
He watched me sit down in a chair beside the couch. He didn't say anything, he just watched me. It made me kind of nervous, and I pushed my bangs back behind my ears. It was a nervous habit I had developed a long time ago.
"I hope you don't mind my breaking into your house," I blushed. "But I'll be here until the paramedics come. I don't want to leave you all alone in here. What's your name, anyways?"
"I-I'm Nathanial Clemens." He seemed like he wanted to say a lot more, but all he could get out was, "...thank you."
"For what?" I frowned.
There was such a sad look in his eyes as he said, "For noticing me..."
I didn't really know what to say and I felt like I was babbling as I replied, "I've noticed you before, you know. I see you up in your window when I walk to school or to my friend's house. It seems like you're always up in that window whenever I pass by, so yeah, I notice you all the time."
He had regained some color in his cheeks for some reason, and his eyes were a fraction of a bit wider as he stared up at me. He didn't say anything because the door opened and the paramedics came in. He couldn't walk, so they put him onto a stretcher. I stayed by his side as they carried him out of the house and down to the ambulance. The paramedics didn't like the idea of me being so close to him because of my 'germs', but Nathanial had taken my hand in his before we left the house, so they didn't tell me to go away. They wouldn't let me into the ambulance, though. I had to be family in order to do that, and I didn't even know Nathanial before that day.
I was flustered, but Nathanial let go of my hand and smiled at me before they rushed him off to the hospital. No matter what I did, I couldn't get those icy blue eyes out of my mind. I worried about him for a few days, wondering if he was alright.

I was walking to school one morning when I saw him up in his window again, watching me as I passed by. I was so glad he was okay. I stopped at his mailbox and smiled, waving up at him. He seemed a bit embarrassed and quickly disappeared into his room. I didn't mind though. I continued on my way to school, and I did the same thing the next day. It was like that for at least a year.
One day as I was passing by, I gave him my usual smile and wave, ready for him to disappear back into his room. But he didn't. I was surprised as he slowly raised a hand and waved back at me, his lips spreading into a small smile. I don't know why, but it made me so happy. I quickly pulled out a notebook and pen, scribbling "Have a nice day!" onto it and holding it up for him to see. His smile widened and he began writing something down on a piece of paper he already had in his lap. "You too," he had written. I waved again and skipped off to school.
The next day, when I was passing by, I didn't see him up in his window. It seemed like my heart had skipped a beat. He was always there, and I was always here, even if I didn't have school or any reason in particular to be passing by. I just did it because I knew he would be there, watching, waiting for me.
I was going to be late for school, but I was too worried to care. I felt stupid as I walked up to his house and rang the doorbell. His mother answered the door, and she had absolutely no idea who I was.
"Nathanial..." I said, feeling like an idiot. "Is he alright?"
"Who are you and how do you know him?" she asked, "And why wouldn't he be?"
"He... He's not at his window," I said, feeling my face growing warm. "I've seen him at his window the same time every day for at least a year now. I was the one that called the ambulance for him last year."
"Oh, you're Chastity Skulden." He must have told her my name. "It's been quiet this morning, he's probably still sleeping."
"Could..." my face was practically on fire at this point, "Could you check on him just in case?"
"Yeah, sure thing," she frowned.
She left the door open as she went back into the house, going up the stairs. I waited for a few minutes, and heard her calling out "Nathan?" as she moved around upstairs. I also heard something moving in the bushes beside the house, and a low growl that I recognized from the internet and the news. My heart raised and I immediately ran into the house, slamming the door shut behind me. I didn't care if it was considered breaking in; there was no way in hell I was about to be another victim to a Malifatious. The fact that one of those evolved wolf creatures was here, in my neighborhood, it made me so nervous.
There were gunshots out front and I knew that someone was shooting at it, scaring it off. I peeked out the window to find it running down the street, keeping to the shadows of the houses.
Mrs. Clemens ran down the stairs, calling out Nathanial's name. My stomach was in a knot with worry. First he wasn't up in the window, his mom couldn't find him, and now there was a Malifatious at the side of his house. I followed her as she opened a door leading to the backyard.
Nathanial was on the ground, lying in a puddle of blood. I ran forward after his mom, who was in hysterics. There was a deep bite on his neck. It was no doubt from the Malifatious that had been at the side of the house.
"Nathanial!" I screamed, unable to get the picture of his pale body lying so still on the grass out of my head.
"Stay away from him!" his mom shrieked, sobbing uncontrollably as she pulled him up into her lap. "No! Nathan, my baby, Nathanial, wake up!"
My vision was blurring from tears. He was dead. Why had he gone outside? Why out back? I could have saved him again if he had only gone out the front. But no, he had been attacked, and now he was dead. No more acknowledgement every morning, no more waves, no more smiles, no more Nathanial.
I turned around and ran back home. I didn't go to school, I just cried in my bed. The next day my mom told me I got a phone call from the Clemens saying something about some letters for me and an invitation to his wake. I refused to go. I had spent the entire day getting the image of his dead body out of my mind. I wanted to remember him as he was, smiling and waving at me from his window, holding up the sheet of paper as I held up mine.
It wasn't until he was dead that I realized the feelings I had developed for him. He had been my crush since the moment he held my hand.
