Here's a little something...
I wrote a lot in middle school. But I gave up writing a while back. This is one of the last things I wrote. It was in 7th grade and is a clip from the first book of a series of thirteen. Of course it wasn't the first one I wrote. It was the last. But then I put them in my preferred order and that one turned out to be first.
And to avoid rambling (a little late for that) Here is the clip:
Quote:
I stared up at him, knowing that the longer I gazed at him, the more tempted I would be to kiss him. And I did. Not a simple peck on the lips, but a real kiss. The kind of kiss that every girl dreams of eventually possessing. And as our lips drew apart, I could feel him pull me closer, not wanting to release me. I pulled away, suddenly feeling awkward.
“I’m sorry,” I said softly, turning away so that he could not see the blush that had crept across my face.
“No,” he said, turning me back toward him. “You’ve nothing to apologize for.” I could see a new spark in his eyes that reflected some kindly energy, a spark that I had never seen before in anyone. His steely facade slowly melted away, and he leaned in for a second kiss. Better than the first. I clung to him until one of his knights interrupted.
“Prince Kaed, sir!” He said in a gruff voice. “The city of Destirin has been destroyed by monsters!” I looked at the knight in disbelief.
“What are you talking about? I thought monsters kept their distance from populated areas,” said Kaed.
“They usually do, your majesty, but something must have angered them.”
I kept still, a silent horror swelling up inside me.
“How did you come about this information?” I said softly. The knight hesitated in answering to me, knowing that it was forbidden for noble blooded people, such as knights and lords, to speak to the lower-class. But after receiving a stern look from Kaed, he answered.
“I sent three scouts ahead to survey the area. Only one returned, claiming that the others had been killed by the monsters that remained in the area.” He acted as if he were answering to Kaed, keeping eye contact with the prince instead of me.
“Were there any survivors?” I could feel a lifetime of fear as Kaed asked this question. Could Joliet have been killed? I shouldn’t have let her return home.
“Not likely,” the knight replied. “None were seen, and I pity those who did manage to survive, for now the monsters can have their way with them.
“Joliet…” I whispered, scarcely able to breath. Without a moment’s hesitation, I began running as fast as was in my power toward Destirin.
“Ara!” Kaed called after me. “Stop!” He quickly mounted his horse and rode after me. I ran faster. I was determined that he would not catch me before I reached the top of the hill. From there I would be able to see all of Destirin. He was rapidly catching up with me, and I was certain that he would catch me and try to stop me. But then I reached the top of the hill and came to a sudden halt. I was stunned at the scene that lay before me, a landscape of Hell. Not one structure remained standing and everything that was not stone, earth, or ash was engulfed in raging fires.

I'm not sure why I stopped writing. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this but...well I guess I'll ask for people's opinions. So what do you think?
