Sometimes I feel like I haven't all ways been here. And yet it feel like I all ways have. This farm, the river, my kelbi, and this village. It's all home and I feel safe here, yet....

In a peaceful village its residents lived happily and with out hardship or suffering for years. With a cool summer breeze and on the brink the seasons turning to fall, the village felt calm and peaceful to any traveler who passed by. The settlement bustled and murmured of the traveling merchants selling things from far away lands and brought treasures of foreign interest, gadgets and ornaments.

The village was a well established little paradise, with all the basic craftsmen needed such as a Baker, a Blacksmith, the town center, and a Doctor. It's geographic surroundings made it a splendid area to herd the rare farm animal, the kelbi. Kelbi require a constant source of water and all year temperature to produce their highly valued Kel mist, which is used as medicinal ingredient to many vital antidotes and elixirs. The surrounding mountains provided an comfortable 28C all year temperature and a large cool river supplying water to its inhabitants and the kelbi.

Naturally two large kelbi farms have been established in this area, the largest being Jericho Farms. Jericho has been known for being prideful and for an extremely stubborn personality regardless of his youthful age. A blue eyes, dark haired beauty as the elder teenage girls enjoy to refer him as. After checking up on his kelbi and ensuring no Wilds had gotten into his precious livestock Jericho proceeded to walk to the center and look at merchants latest trendy scam.

“Come here good sir! Come sir, I have something very special for a respectable kelbi farmer such as yourself! With it's sturdy wooden base-- Strong and dependable it is Sir-- It posses a rare and valuable iron head it does. This fine item came from many seas yonder! It's a genuine shadow clock! You see this spade curved head is in fact the most fascinating part of the item. You see by inserting its long narrow, wooden base strait into the ground so it may tower into the sky you have an ancient marvel! By in fact measuring where its shadow lands you may see Exactly! Exactly.. the time of day. Truly a impressive item do you not agree sir? S-sir! Sir! Please wait a moment! I'm sure I have something for you...”

As a usual Saturday's market many merchants would come in and out, some some where honest... And some not so pure too their merchant name. All though Jericho had often came to the market, he rarely bought anything outside his usual farm supply needs, as in the past all merchant have done, was steal his hard earned currency away for useless and instantly breakable gadgets.

Slowly the dusk turned to night, the market place thinned slightly but was still bursting with energy. The song birds lay their heads to rest and the honorable owls awakened for their turn to enjoy the nocturnal land, and the kelbi huddle together as awakening nocturnal Wilds begin to stir from their slumber. Shadows linger in the air until they blanket the valley until everything is dark and the glistening moons rise from the mountain peeks. All is dark now but a few spots on the hill, which had been glowing a radient orange hue.

“Help! Help!” A young woman called running in from the North, “T-The kelbi farms! They're burning! Please help me put out the fire!”

A fire? How is that possible? Everyone is rushing out to help the woman, why is everyone
helping Ashley? I... I should go help too.

The next morning everything was in ruin from broken fences to the crispy black remains of Jericho's storage shed for the his Kel Mist. The Protozion guard who came to inspect the damage suspected it was the bandits rumored to be moving towards the valley. He offered his sympathies and continued on to the Ashley Farm to have at look at her kelbi farm as well.

Shortly after the Protozion had come and gone the town baker came to see Jericho. He was of a typical baker like stature, with a fine reputation and a heartfelt smile he approached Jericho with a pat on the shoulder.

“It twas' an awful shame what happened here in this here farm. Quite the pity really. I'm afraid I 'aint no good at fixin' nore do I have ways of replacing yer' lost mist.” The back encouragingly spoke, “But I'd like to offer ya' some fine bread and some grade A Milcow milk to fill yer empty stomach.”

It may have been a kind offer of the Baker but he could only muster a weak smile only thinking of his misfortune. “Thank you very much, for your thoughts and you're kind gift. I will be sure to visit your Bakery again when I am able to get back on my feet.”

Jericho bowed politely and had the kind Baker leave to return to his shop. Beginning the tedious task of picking up the rubble from the once beautiful, kelbi fill pasture Jericho just simply needed to get done what needed to be done. At least that's what he told himself over and over.

Another visitor came to the farm, this time it was a shaggy, dirty beggar. He fashioned torn sandals, ragged pants and a brown poncho barely held together by a few threads of fabric.

“Excuse me Jericho... I'm the peddler near by the vegetable stand.” His yellow smile glimmered and his his voice was quiet and raspy, “I was once a fine carpenter.. before that wench Hilda stole half—Nah, three fourths of my reputation, health and physical possessions.... At any rate I would like to offer my assistance in fixing your fence, I'd be able to make a fine new fence for you in exchange for a place to sleep for the night.”

Jericho thought about this for only a moment, “I appreciate your offer but some one has already offered to rebuild my fence, please take care.”

Beggars.
They're just as bad as the merchants, the suck the life out of other people around them demanding food and water without giving anything in return.

After the Beggar left Jericho continued to work and cleaning up his estate. In the distance however a shrill sound bellowed that mothers tell little boys and girls about to make them behave and go to sleep at night. The howl of a Wild.

In this village, the howl of a Wild in mid day is depicted as an omen of great tragedy is apon those who hear it. Jericho couldn't help but mumble, “It's a little late now for it now isn't it.” and as his anger rose he began to yell it out into the deaf rolling hills, “It's far to late now!!!!”

After he'd finished screaming at the hills, Jericho began taking deep breathes, leaving his work to crouch down beside a grand tree at the top of his highest hill. All he could think about was “What if that wild was eating one of my poor escaped Kelbi” The hill faced Ashley's farm, along with a beautiful landscape to the South displaying the village, a few hills, the rolling river and the near by mountains.

As he stared down towards Ashley's rather then feeling relief of his self pity that he wasn't the only one, dark emotions began to boil within him. As he look down over the hill all the villagers were all ready there, her fences where repaired and her home was barely recognizable that it had been partly burnt down. Ashley had spread out a bright red picnic blanket and the Baker had set up bread and cheese for the entire relief team that was there to help. The Beggar sat there gorging himself to the fill and the jolly Bakers laugh echoed through the air.

Jericho gripped his pants until his knuckles turned white and gridded his teeth. “Look at them, helping her!” he began venting to himself quietly, “Why is 'her' farm almost completely repaired and mine still in ruin? Why did those blasted bandits leave her a few kelbi while my entire herd was stolen from me!”

He got up and began pacing around fiercely and making a bad high pitched impression, “Oh no! The bandit pillaged our kelbi farms! Let's all go help Ashley repair her farm immediately and leave Jericho to fend for himself. His farm never did produce as much Kel Mist as Ashley's did!” He stopped and began shaking with rage.

It was dusk again and the shadows had returned to the valley. Everyone had returned home for the night and Ashley had retreated into her new home. The Wilds howled again, but dangerously close this time, forcing Jericho to jump skittishly. Calming down a bit out of fear or common sense to look at his surrounding he did not know, Jericho was forced to regain his composure quickly. Wilds are not like wolves you see, wile there are wolves in the brush areas in the valley, Wilds are far more of a threat and a danger to both Kelbi and farmer. They have even been known to devour anything that happens to cross their path.

Looking around at the edges of his farm yard and the brushes in his surroundings he notices a small shimmer through a clearing a ways East not more then one Kilometer away from Ashley's farm. Looking closer into the brush Jericho's stomach drops as his eyes scan at where the glimmer was until something began to slowly emerge from the the trees into the clearing.

Two great big yellow glowing eyes lurked out of the clearing, most Wild's eyes are easily distinguishable as unlike normal wildlife, instead of reflecting light, Wild's eyes emit a low piercing yellow glow. He could only just make out the Wilds figure, it seemed to be sniffing the air as if it was tracking a food source. He lurched down low to the ground as the yellow glow faced the hill, then slowly turning back to where it was first sniffing.

And it faced the direction of the great old tree again, looking strate at Jericho's possession, it was all most as if it was looking strait into Jericho's eyes. Such utter chills ran down his spine it was unimaginable. Finally the Wild continued on its way from which it was originally was headed.

That Wild... it could be a real problem.
But... Ashley...

After a moment Jericho got up still fixated on that clearing. Finally he turned and headed to his half destroyed farm and began digging through the rubble. After a good amount of searching he found it. It was a spear like weapon the Protzion guard once gave it to Jericho for protection from Wilds, he referred to it as a Spir-Tasrer.

Jericho began walking to to Ashley's farm, gripping the spear. The stars lit the night sky as he began his walk, not a owl or a wolf could be heard on this night. This night, it was different.

They all left you out here alone,

and she always thought she was better then you.

He shook his head and continued down the path. All that could be heard was the crunching of the gravel under his feet in the silence.

We could just........
It might be the Wild nearby you know.

The silence of the night weighed heavily on Jericho's shoulders, he breathed heavily as he approached the farm yard. The Wild howled again, but Jericho could not pin point or tell where it came from this time, the trees seemed to have muffled the direction it came from.

As he walked slowly he looked at the shaded fence as he went down the seemingly long gravel road in the darkness of the night. It actually wasn't done half bad, could be sturdy.

She even accepted the help of that beggar. Doesn't she realize that he probably stole food?

It becomes silent, and the foot steps have stopped, all the that stands between Jericho and Ashley is one wooden door. He stared at the fine carved mahogany wood. Trees. One door cost a two hundred year old tree's life, to serve as a barrier between Ashley, and a deadly danger from the outside world. One life, for another.

He tightened his grip on on spear and slowly raised his right hand to the wood.

Jericho pulled back his fist and pushed it forward though the dense cold air of one summers night.

It's quite amazing to be completely honest with you.
The fantasy theme makes me want to go downstairs and play some quality video games. XD Haha.

Anyways, what are you thinking of doing with this story? You could pretty much do anything you'd like with it.
Like make it into a video game or an actual book.
Either would work pretty well, with the detail and all. n____n

Actually I wasn't really planning on doing anything with it, it was just kinda my way of mapping out and putting a light amount of concept for L'altra Vita. And I even avoided a lot of it so it wouldn't become confusing.

So do you think Jericho's intentions where to help Ashley? Or something else..

I love doing cliffhanger stories. Makes it a lot more.. reader involved, at least for this particular story line.

I honestly haven't decided what he did. Or am not going to tell anyone, regardless. I loved describing the Wild, I love the wilds.

I may how ever make more stories based on L'altra Vita as its fun and I enjoy creating stories but it would be completely different as variety is all ways good.
