ok, i'm making a new story. i don't have much more than the prologe done, so here it is:

Long ago, far before most can remember, there was an epic battle between the hawk, rose, snake, and silent action villages. All of them were against each other, causing one kijutsu musha to rise above the others. There was a huge explosion, and after using all of his power to end the battle, the kijutsa musha looked around and realized what he had done. He saw his friends and family were dead. Horrified, he sealed all of his power into two necklaces.

First, he transformed them to look different than the necklaces all the joufu wore, ones in the shape of a dagger. To the first necklace, he used his powers to extened the length of the blade to make it look like a sword, and then made wings form on it to symbolize the taka, or hawk, village. Then, knowing all of his power would be too much for that necklace, he made another one. He again elongated the dagger to look like a sword, but this time wrapped a snake around it. This represented his main enemy’s village, the hebi, or snake, village.

Upon his cousins limp body, he placed the taka necklace, hoping it would guide him safely to the afterlife, and placed the hebi necklace on his mortal enemy’s body to make sure his afterlife would be horrible. Then, being sure no one could unlock his powers, he disappeared. He was right, and his powers stayed sealed for many centuries, until…

Chapter 1, Part One: Satori Kyoto

Finally. This was it. The moment I had been waiting my whole life for. The moment I had envisioned for about 10 years. All I had to do now was wait for them to call my name. Then I would go up to the front and wait to hear my future. This could be the defining moment in my life. If one of the necklaces chose me, I would be a joufu.

Then it hit me. I had been so excited for it to finally be the decision day, that I hadn’t thought about the chance that I wouldn’t be a joufu. If I didn’t, the hours and hours of merciless training would all be for nothing.
“Hitomi Fukui.” One of the heads of our village said into the loudspeaker. A blonde girl who I had grown to become very good friends with stood up and started walking toward the front of the hall. I hoped she would get one of the necklaces, so we could be joufu together. If I made it, that is.

Even when you hope for something, when it happens, it’s still a surprise.
No sooner than Hitomi-chan made it up to the front, the necklace on the far right started to glow. Its yellow-colored jewel shimmered as it vibrated against the table and the floated up to her. She was about as shocked as I was.

The elders looked at each other and smiled, clearly pleased that she was one of the select few, and the first one to be picked. Some more names were called, and it seemed like the minutes were passing like hours. I couldn’t even concentrate on any names that I heard called.

But, when I heard the elders call, “Satori Kyoto,” I jumped, and then rose from my seat. Carefully moving to avoid bumping into anyone, I sunk back into my usual self—an obnoxious trouble-maker. It was my only way out of being made fun of because of my uncle being killed in front of the whole village. I don’t want to be like this, I just have to be…

Reaching the front of the room took only a few moments, even though it felt much longer than that. I stared down at the necklaces, and they stared back up at me, unmoving. Not a single one vibrated. So that was the reality of it. I was never really cut out to be a joufu after all…

But just as I was about to turn around, a slight movement to my left caught my eye. No way. It wasn’t possible, or was it? The necklace in the center started vibrating even more, and floated up to me.

I looked at the elders, and all but one looked disgusted. But I guess it made sense… Why would they want some goof being one of the joufu?
As I walked back to my seat, all I saw were shocked faces. Even Hitomi-chan looked surprised… It almost made me laugh, because now I was actually joufu, and that meant I was actually chosen by one of the legendary 5 neclaces.

what do you think?
