Part 26:

Tim:
I woke up at the side of the river feeling drowsy. I looked around and wondered "Where am I?" I looked around and then a new question came to mind "How did I get here?". I turned around and saw the high school and started to walk towards it.
After about ten minutes I fell straight to the ground and grabbed my side. "Argh" I screamed out and looked to my side and to my surprise I saw a huge gashing wound the blood still dripping down my side. I got back up and started to walk to the dorm thought the dark night.
I managed to limp my way to the front of room 436 finally I said to myself. Then I collapsed smacking my body against the wall and passed out.

Krystal:
Eventually I decided that because Flora wasn’t going to be social, that I would see what she was watching. It turned out to be the news, but what was showing really surprised and scared me at the same time.
The news-person was talking about how there were sightings of a giant wolf outside our campus. He also said there was blood found in the woods. Could this creature have murdered someone? And was anyone safe here on campus?!
Even more surprising than this, though, was Flora’s response. She seemed very interested and even pleased to see this. I thought about speaking up but then decided against it, knowing how Flora reacted the last time I’d talked to her.
My mind was working so slowly, but I decided I had to make up with Tim in some way. I grabbed the phone and dialed the number of his dorm.
“Hello, Krystal.” The voice was Frozt’s. How did he know it was me? And why was he answering the phone? Well, it was his dorm too…
It took me a minute to reply. “Is Tim there?” My voice was shaky when it finally came out.
I heard him laugh. “Even if he was, do you expect he would want to talk to you?” He hung up the phone.

Part 27:

Tim:
I woke up in the middle of the hall way and looked out the window. It was pitch black. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the key to the dorm room and unlocked the door.
As I opened the door my heart skipped a beat when I saw Frozt standing right in the door way as if he were waiting for me to come back. "Well your home late aren’t you?” he said in an almost happy voice. "What were you doing for so long?” he said in a questioning voice.
I looked straight into his eyes which were almost memorizing. I started to space out. "Well?" he asked in an impatient voice.
I shoved past him to get in, pushing him to the side refusing to answer his question. I lay in my bed and stared at the wall. Frozt was looking out the window as if he were expecting something. I tried to sleep but kept feeling like he was watching me. I went to ask him if he was staring at me but thought if he wasn't I'd feel a little stupid. After a few moments I dozed off into a deep sleep.

Krystal:
Trying to work out everything in my head, I decided to lie back down. Why did Flora seem so much different? She looked the same except for her eyes. Was it because she was afraid of the giant wolf sightings? Maybe she was just afraid of one of them attacking her. Or maybe it was something else completely…
Also, why had Frozt been so rude? Could he have just been upset and ashamed about what he had done? Did he want me to himself and thought it was possible if he didn’t let Tim talk to me? None of it really made sense, though.
Why would both Frozt AND Flora be acting so strange all of a sudden? They both seemed to have the same mood… and it seemed to have changed at the same time. Could something be up between them?
With all of the questions running through my head, it surprised me when I was asleep. A few minutes later I was woken up again, though. No one was in the room and the door was wide open. I went outside and found the hallway was filled with clutter and there was something red stained into the carpet. I followed the stains, and it led me outdoors and toward the boy’s dorm.
Opening the door, I walked inside. It looked deserted in here too. Then I saw it. Tim’s door was wide open, and he was inside. He was lying on his bed, his side bleeding. Frozt was right beside him, looking at him like a vulture. It appeared that he was waiting for him to die.
I tried to scream, but nothing would come out. I raced over to Tim’s side, but Frozt was suddenly in front of me. He shoved me down to the floor as easily as it would be to push over a piece of paper.
This time when I tried to scream I could.
And then I woke up.
It had all been a dream. Flora was gone and Lynnie still wasn’t back yet. There I was, sitting in my bed in the middle of the room, completely confused about what my dream meant. It could have been just been a regular, meaningless dream. But my heart told me otherwise.

Part 28:

Tim:
I wake up a few hours later lying in my bed. Frozt is standing there watching me like he's expecting something to happen.
"Wow,” he said in an odd voice. “You sleep like the dead. Nothing seemed to wake you up." I glared at him trying to tell him to shut up but it didn't seem to work. "Someone could have burnt the whole damn place down and you would sleep through it."
As I stood up I fell to the ground and remembered the wound on my side. "You really shouldn't try standing with that on you."
"Shut up" I said under my breathe so he couldn't hear me.
"Excuse me what'd you just say?" he asked ever though he knew what I said.
"I told you to shut up.” I yelled at him angrily.
"Don't speak to me like that ever". He said in a frustrated voice.
"What is someone like you gonna do about it?" I asked starting to feel like a wave of heat coming over me. All of the sudden a pain covered my body again. "Argh" I yelled out in the night as I started to hear voices in my head. There were so many voices I couldn't take it. I looked for a way out, any way out. I looked to the open door and ran out the hall way and straight down the hall to the door. I knocked the door straight off of its hinges and looked for somewhere else to go to get rid of all the pain.

Krystal:
I decided that I couldn’t do anything but try to call Tim. This time I tried his cell phone instead of the dorm phone.
It rang for a while and then a familiar voice spoke, one I didn’t want to talk to. “Why hello Krystal. Why do you keep calling Tim? You know he’s done with you. He could care less about you. He’s HAPPY about what happened. You see, he wanted to get rid of you, and it was just easier this way. He had an excuse. Now please stop calling or I’ll have to do something about it.” Frozt hung up the phone.
I sat there on my bed, frozen to the spot. Frozt couldn’t be telling the truth. Tim loved me. I wished he still did. But…
Maybe Frozt WAS telling the truth. Maybe… Tim didn’t love me after all. Maybe he never did. Maybe…
The pain in my stomach was back again. I thought it had healed, but now thoughts of Kristen and everything else back then came into the open again. It hurt so bad that I had to lie down from my sitting position.

Part 29:

Tim:
As I stood there all the voices screaming in my mind I heard my name mentioned in one. I turned around quickly and began to go inside as I stomped down the hallway trying my hardest to find the source, room 436. Upon seeing that it was coming from inside I was confused then it came clear to me it was Frozt.
I went to open the door and it wouldn't budge. I pounded the door down sending it sailing through the window shaking the whole room. He stood up quickly in shock. He took a few steps back and then prepared himself. He stood there bracing himself for what may come. I started to circle him the best I could in the small room trying to find an open spot anywhere.
I lunged forward at him as he quickly jumped to the side and out into the hallway. I end up hitting face first into the wall but my anger is to strong to even care. I kick off the wall and charge him this time head first.
He once more moves to the side and begins down the hall. As I turn around I notice him already half way out the door. "Damn, he's fast.” I think to myself. I rush down the hall way and crash straight thought the door, flinging it open making it hang open by just a thread.
I see him rushing throughout the parking lot, trying to hide behind one of the cars. I start to walk at a slow pace towards him to make him think he's safe lowering his guard. I see him turning the corner and rush at him.
As I try to stop myself coming to a sliding stop I see a car flying straight at me. It launches me through the air and I slam against the side of the one wall. As things start to go black, all I see are lights flickering on in the rooms and people rushing out to see what had happened. I lay there a bloody mess and then the darkness finally consumes my sight and I'm out like a light.

Krystal:
Hearing something had happened outside, I rushed out to see what it was. I thought anything that could distract me for even a moment was good. But when I got to the scene I thought otherwise.
There was a huge car covered with the red liquid from my dream. Underneath it was the body of the only person I had ever loved.
I ran over as fast as I could, past all of the public standing in their pajamas to see today’s headline news. Once I got to his side, I could barely see how injured he was. Most of his body was under the car, but his face was visible, and, amazingly enough, he was breathing.
I pressed my hand against his forehead, but instead of it being cold, it was hot. Hotter than any normal fever. But that was the least of my problems. How many broken bones could he have from this?
And who could have done this to him?
I quickly grabbed my cell phone and dialed 9-1-1, as if no one had already. A few minutes later there was an ambulance at the school to take him away and figure out what really happened here.

Part 30:

Evelyn:
A Few Weeks Later…
Thunder roars overhead, and I’m cold and hungry, with no protection whatsoever. I hiss at the rain that starts to pour over me. Suddenly, I just fall asleep.
“I found you! Thank God! Now to get you back to civilization…” I hear, and feel myself being picked up.
I later wake up to find myself in a warm bed with a bowl of fish close by. I quickly gulp it down, and fiddle around with the bones with my claws. Suddenly, a boy walks in and talks to me.
“At least Frozt is gone for a week… but it won’t be good when you realize Jeff’s gone. Either way, at least you’ve calmed down.” The boy says and I fall asleep again.
The next day I wake up, and find some more fish by my side. I gulp it down, and notice I can’t play with its bones with my claws, as they had suddenly disappeared. The same boy comes back in, and speaks to me again, only one word rings in my mind, and I direct it at the boy.
Tim…
“What?! You said my name?!” He asks, excited by what I said. I don’t care what he said, as another word he didn’t say rings in my mind.
Brother…
Even the next day, I wake up, and I realize where I am. I’m in the boy’s dorm, in my high school, and my brother’s in the bed next to mine. Suddenly, a new boy walks in, screaming.
“I knew it! YOU! YOU WERE THE WERECAT THAT’S COME ALIVE IN THE FOREST! AND YOU! YOU ARE THE REAL THREAT!” He screams, pointing at me and my brother, and I jump to defend my brother.
“BACK OFF!” I scream, discovering my new capability of speech. I slam my tail into the new boy’s stomach, sending him flying into the door. Two seconds later, a girl whom my human memories identified as Krystal sprints into the room.
“Tim! What is that thing?!” She screams, pointing at me.
“Chill Krystal, it’s only… I’ll tell you later, right now, all three of us have to get out of here!” My brother says, and grabs the nearest ropelike thing and ties it around my neck. He grabs Krystal’s hand, and we run off into the forest.
In about two minutes we were back in the forest, and still racing. We find a spring to rest at, and hear no screaming. Tim sits down, and Krystal sits beside him. I go over and lick up few drops of water from the spring, and lay beside them while they talk.
“Thank God that I got you away from him, he was about to go on a spree…” My brother said.
“What do you mean?” Krystal asks, still confused.
“First of all, do you ever wonder why my skin temperature is so hot nowadays?”
“Err, yeah…”
“Well… my sister and I… have had a curse, and we can NEVER go camping. Remember how Lynnie disappeared a few weeks ago?”
“Yeah, and it seemed that she was so upset!”
“Well… do you want to know our big secret, one that you cannot even let FLORA know? And especially Frozt!”
“Err… sure…”
“Well… long ago, there was a time when vampires ruled the earth. Some of the native peoples, the ones descended down from wolves and wild cats, were angry at the alien vampires changing all their people, and they went into hiding, honing their abilities to become wolves and cats again. Unfortunately only the men could become wolves and women, cats.”
“You’re telling me this why, exactly?”
“Long story short, he’s a werewolf and I’m a werecat!” I snap, now getting irritated by the long boring story.
“WHOA! THAT CAT HAS LYNNIE’S VOICE!” Krystal yells.
“That’s because she IS Lynnie. And I’m the werewolf that’s been bugging the town.” Tim calms her down.
“And also, we can sense your emotions, and read your thoughts!” I yawn.
“Yeah, but werecats have that ability more prominently than the werewolves.”
“So you’re saying that huge cat is Lynnie?” Krystal whispers.
“Yup.” We reply in unison. I scent the air, and smell the air. No scent of vampire touches my nose, and I fall asleep.
A few minutes later, I wake up, and find myself in the girl’s dorm, in my bed and in my pajamas. Krystal is the first one to react, though it was only in her mind.
“Why am I dressed as a human?” I ask, and it suddenly comes to light right after I said that that I was fully human, though my werecat mind has still not worn off yet.
“You’re still thinking you’re a werecat, aren’t you Lynnie?” Krystal asks, and Tim comes over with some cereal for me to eat.
“The werecat mind wears off in a few days. I was amazed that she hadn’t changed until this late, as going werecat or werewolf is like puberty for us. The only difference is that it’s always very sudden on when we change. “Lucky humans, with the signs that it’s coming for them.” Tim says. I fall asleep and the next day, my old human schedule resumes.

Part 31:

Krystal:
A few months pass…
Wondering how the months were moving so quickly now, I flop down on my bed. I’d been at Tim’s dorm a lot lately, caring for him now that he was out of the hospital. Lynnie had been over there a lot too, but for a different reason. After her disappearance, we had realized that she was a werecat. But now she has no memory of it at all.
But back to Tim. We’re back to normal now. He understands that it was Frozt’s fault, and hasn’t been nice to him ever since. A few months ago he was hospitalized for about a week from the injuries that were caused because of Frozt. Talking about him, he’s been out a lot lately. And he seems to have a distinct hate for Lynnie too, not just Tim. This was a good thing though, it was a reason for him to be gone most of the time, and I liked that. Especially since that… incident.
Back to Tim again… his injuries were pretty major. Some muscle damage in his arms and legs and his left leg was broken. The huge wound in his side was almost fatal. He’s all healed up now, but his strength hasn’t completely returned. But I guess that’s what werewolves do, protect everyone.
Lynnie’s life is pretty normal now though, except for the werecat memory loss. But her love life has gone up a little. Since Jeff left, that is. Poor girl, didn’t even get to say good-bye. But the good part is that she has found another guy to chase after. He likes people to call him Drag (no, not the fashion style, short for Dragonfly) but his real name is Bob. Even though he hasn’t noticed her yet, I know he will someday. I hope soon. Oh, and Tim has taken a liking to him. They hang out all the time, but it just so happens that Lynnie is always somewhere else.

As the final bell of the day rings, I rush out of class to meet up with Tim. I see him up ahead and start walking a little faster, but then my roommate steps in front of me. About running her over, I stop to see Flora standing right in front of me with a smile on her face.
“Hey Flora, can I get pass?” I ask as politely as I can, wanting to get to Tim. I see him looking confused, coming toward us.
She keeps smiling. “I’m afraid that would be a problem.” Before I knew it, she had turned around to face Tim, pushing him backward and punching him before running away. My mind raced for reasons why she would do such a thing, not understanding what was going on.
I ran up to Tim, hoping he wasn’t injured much. He wasn’t, but his skin was warmer than usual, a sign of him becoming a werewolf. “Are you okay? What just happened?” I ask, still frantic.
“It’s… nothing.” He stares past me and then finally looks at me. It’s obvious he’s hiding something.
I look at him for a little. “I know you’re hiding something… can you tell me? I’ll believe you…” I place my hand over his.
“… Be careful.” With that, he got up and walked away.

Evelyn:
When I got into the dorm after third period, I realized it was Krystal, Tim, and my free period. I smile, then flop into bed. Flora comes in, glaring at me with red eyes.
“Kitty, kitty, come to mama! Come so mama can feast on the blood of her enemy!” She whispers, and I roll my eyes.
“Go away mosquito, your senorita doesn’t want to play right now!” I hiss in my version of Spanglish. Flora rolls her eyes as I put on a song that was currently describing myself in a way. I flick a gnat away while Flora packs up her stuff.
“Well! The mosquito Chiquita is moving out! More room for the kitty cat to stretch her claws! And more room for the master to relax in also! What else could be better? Is the Chiquito mosquito also moving out?” I say, putting in more Spanish.
“Farewell, Kitty! I wish this tick could suck your blood, but the tick has other plans for now!” Flora says, tossing her key on her now bare bed, and leaves.
A few minutes later Krystal comes in, and notices that Flora has left. She throws her books down on the empty bed, and starts talking.
“So, what’s up?” she asks, looking at me.

xDessiex 01-30-2008 08:32 PM

Part 32:

Krystal:
Lynnie looks over at me, annoyed. “What is it?” I walk over to her bed and sit beside her.
“I’m pretty sure those two are up to something.” She glares at Flora’s old bed. “Why else would they be moving out? They must not want us to find out something, because she can’t do it in our room.”
It takes me a minute to understand that she was talking about Flora and Frozt, but then it makes sense. “Yeah, they have been acting differently…” I look down, thinking.
“Is something wrong?” She asks, noticing my worry. She looks at me, now looking concerned.
“Tim wouldn’t tell me what was wrong…” I look at Lynnie. “Flora made him fall in the hall.” I could feel Lynnie’s body heat rising by the moment, worried about her brother and mad at Flora.
“He’s just trying to protect you. Don’t worry, just trust him.” Her voice was soothing, even though she was angry.
A moment later, our door was off it’s hinges, and Frozt was in the room. “Hello.” He walks over to the bed and grabs my arm, dragging me across the room, against my will.

Evelyn:
As Frozt starts dragging Krystal to the door, I get ready to attempt a transformation to my werecat form.
“Aw… is the little kitty getting mad? I hope not, because an angry kitty is not a happy kitty!” Frozt smoothly whines.
“Usually I’d return that remark, but this time this little kitty will claw your head off!” I snarl, noticing how my teeth were getting sharper.
“Really? Because usually you kitties are so docile before losing your closest companion! Usually kitties like you are offering their lives in place of your friends! And your puppy companions don’t do a thing over your dead bodies!” Frozt coos, and I jump at him with sharpened claws. I hit my mark for now, his neck, and he just gurgles with dust pouring out of his wound. Krystal was already unconscious from fright, and I was just as glad. Frozt crumbles down to a pile of dust on the floor, and I sigh. He wasn’t gone yet, but he was gone for now.
An hour later Krystal comes to on her bed, and she just stares at me, whom had by then figured out how to just stay in a half human half cat form. I finally found out what color my cat form was, and I laugh. I had just realized that today was Friday the Thirteenth and along with the vampire attack, I was a black cat.
“Will you lose your memory now?” Krystal asks, scared of my claws, which I hadn’t figured out yet how to get rid of.
“Nope, now that I have summoned the werecat form, I won’t lose control ever again.” I say, showing her that I could call and banish the tail and ears.
“What about the claws?” She asks again, and I just pull my hand up and look at my hand, which in some ways did still look like a paw, other than the claws.
“I don’t know, maybe I’ll just have to be really careful with the claws and wear gloves while outside of the dorm.” I say, shaking my hand, “Maybe this is the thing that shows that I’m a werecat, too! Didn’t you ever notice how Tim is always wearing long sleeves even if it is warm?”
“Um, yeah, but I never ask him about it, what about it?” Krystal says, and starts to get out of her bed.
“Well, the funny thing is, he can’t seem to get rid of the fur on his upper arms! That’s why he doesn’t seem to ever lose the long sleeve shirts!” I laugh, and start looking through my drawers for a pair of nice gloves.

xDessiex 01-30-2008 08:32 PM

Part 33:

Krystal:
I stare at Lynnie, understanding what she was saying, but still shocked. “Are you serious?! I would of never guessed that…” Thinking of Tim, I decide I should go tell him what happened with Frozt.
I stand up and walk to the door. “Lynnie, I’m gonna go see Tim, I’ll be back later. He’s at his dorm, right?” Making sure I have my key, I open the door.
“Yeah, he should be there.” She smiles and shows me a pair of gloves that she has found. They are grey with spots of black on them. “Do you like them?”
Looking at the gloves, I walk out the door. “Yeah, they’re really cute!!” I close the door, walking to Tim’s dorm. Getting to the courtyard, I notice the doors are locked. Confused, I walk to the exit of the girls dorm, and see no one is at the main desk. The doors are locked there, too.
Just then, the lights go out. I run toward the door, but am stopped by a body. Right before I scream, I hear Tim’s voice.
“It’s ok, it’s just me. What’s going on? I came to see you.” He gently holds me close to his body.
“I don’t know! The doors are locked, and I can’t see because it’s so dark…” Then I remember what I wanted to tell him. “Oh, Frozt tried to take me from my dorm, but before Lynnie did anything, I fainted. She told me she attacked his neck though, but she said he was still alive.” I feel his body tense, and then he lets out a whimper.
His arms are no longer around me, and I can’t see what’s happening. “What’s wrong?!” I feel his body hit the ground, and know he’s in pain. But I don’t know what it’s from.
“The change… argh!” I can tell he’s trying to get back up, but he can’t seem to. Suddenly, the lights come on.
The loudspeaker announces: “Happy Friday the 13th, everyone!”
Now that I can see Tim, I get down next to him and try to help him. “What do you mean, the change?!” I ask, worried.
Through his obvious pain, he tries to explain. “Both Lynnie and me, along with all other werewolves and werecats, slowly change into either a wolf or a cat at one point in their lives. Once it’s over, they can change more easily, with less pain. But because both of us are related, it happens to us at the same time.” He catches his breath. “It usually takes a few weeks, so we can’t be in public much.”

Evelyn:
Suddenly, after the prank for today, both Tim and Krystal burst through the doors, and Tim looks like he wants to throw up.
“The change?” I ask, knowing that my ears and tail, though I thought that I could get them back into my body to look like a human again, weren’t going back in.
“The change- ack!” He says, being cut off by throwing himself onto the ground. He lets out a long, soft whimper as his teeth slightly sharpen and a tail bursts out through the end of his jeans. I lean over to help him get up, trying my best to keep my claws retracted while holding his hand. I notice how his fingers were slightly shorter and more naturally curved.
“Hey, Lynnie, check your hands, I think they’re the first part to change for you… like my face is the first part to change for me.” Tim says, his face slightly more elongated at the muzzle. I look down, and almost scream. This was probably going to be the fastest part, but my hands in the matter of seconds it took to help Tim to get up and for him to say that, my hands had already turned into paws and fur was slowly spreading to my wrists. I feel something inside my neck change, and lightly touch my neck as I scream that my hands really were paws. Though, it really wasn’t a scream.
“Mmmmmmmrrrrrrrrrooooowwww!” I yowl in a feline voice, and then change over to telepathy.
Freaking- UGH! Now I can’t communicate to you because my vocal chords are those of a cat now! I scream, and Krystal and Tim-wolf jump back.
“Chill, chill, hopefully this will all be over in a matter of minutes…” Krystal says hopefully.
Didn’t you hear Tim the first time? It might take weeks for this to take place! Once Tim’s head is finished changing, the rest of the changes will be a LOT slower. The fur might take a couple hours, but that’s only the second-fastest part to what most werecats and werewolves have to change into! I yell again, and it goes dark again.
“Quick, during the mock power outage run to my dorm, that’s where most of my stuff is, and if we’ll be stuck in an inhuman form we’ll need to study for our classes.” Tim suggests, and Krystal does so.
In about five minutes, the power was still out and Krystal was due back any time now. We hear the door creak open, and we snarl together. Though Tim gave Krystal directions in perfect English a few minutes ago, now all he could get out were snarls, yips, barks, and some half human gibberish.
“Cool it you two, it’s me!” Krystal whispers, shutting the door. As soon as she shuts the door the lights flicker back on and Krystal stifles a scream from what we had become. Our muscles from our animal forms had busted our clothing apart, and so Tim’s body was… a naked half-wolf half-human body.
“Is there any way that you can fit pants on? I don’t feel like looking at… well you know! Lynnie can at least keep her gym shorts on as she’s shown, but you need to cover up your boyish parts!” Krystal says calmly and quietly, while I suddenly wrap a towel around his midsection. Fur was already rapidly growing across my body, and I realized it was from my worry about Krystal that the changes were happening faster. Tim was also growing some thick fur on his upper body, but it hadn’t spread to where we needed it.
As we finally get a moment of relaxation, we see two dark shadows pass by our window. As I was the only non-human to be capable of speech, I spoke for both Tim and myself.
Why are there people out in the courtyard? It’s storming right now!
“I just saw that- oh gosh! Looks like Flora has found a boyfriend! Looks like John has taken an interest in…”
What’s going on? I ask, balancing on my hind legs as best as I could to get a better view.
“Flora’s kissing John’s neck, and John’s stroking her head lovingly… now Flora’s off the one spot she was kissing, and John’s slowly running his hand up to where she kissed… oh my- his hair’s turning BLUE! LIKE FROZT’S!”
NO! Flora’s a vampire, she found a boyfriend, now we have one more vampire to deal with! Someone help us! I howl, and Krystal strokes my head. I bat her hand away with a soft paw.
I’m not a cat YET, you know! I grumble in my mind, frustrated but good tempered.
