Shor stories - the good the bad, the whaha?
Well I thought I'd post some of my really old work. If you have any ideas on it, I'd love to hear it from you. ^^
This is my first one Called A Fated meeting She ran. It wasn’t a slow trot or even a gentle jog, but a full out sprint through the forest that she had known her whole life. The trees seemed to blur together in a beautiful combination of emerald greens and deep browns as they sped past. Her ears filled with the sounds her paws crunching the dead leaves below. It wasn’t until she had reached the edge of the forest that Keita finally slowed and stopped. This was the edge of the world to her pack, and the young wolf was told to stay away from such areas at all costs. Yet this did not stop her from walking past the safety of the trees in hopes of meeting the kind creature she had only a few days before. It was a day similar to this one, and like always Keita had ran as far and as fast as she could, only to reach the end of the world. She began to turn back, until a sound caught her attention. It was a sound unlike anything her ears had picked up before. Soft and melodious, it drew Keita from the safety of the trees and out towards the open field. There a strange creature sat, one that she had never seen before. Silently Keita stood before it, waiting for the beast to move and make some indication of whither it was friend or foe. Yet the beast simply continued to sing, it’s eyes meeting her own. His eyes showed no fear or anger, but simply a calm nature that made her feel at home. All too soon the song stopped and he moved, gently picking up something and tossing it towards her. The wolf’s nose twitched with the familiar scent of deer before she ate the offered piece. Slowly Keita moved closer towards the beast. After all, if the creature was willing to share it’s food, it couldn’t be too dangerous. She watched warily as the beast moved its misshaped paw towards her snout, slowly and carefully. Unsure what she should do, Keita stood tense, ready to run if he proved dangerous. Gently the limb ran softly against her head and neck, bringing a shiver of pleasure across her spine. The beast stroked her a few more times before slowly moving away and standing. “Thank you for the company Faoulchu, may we meet again” She heard him say as he turned to leave. It was the first time she could not understand a creature, and the first time she had truly wanted to. Keita watched as he left the edge of her world and entered his own, daring not to follow. Ever since Keita had met the beast, she had been unable to get him out of her mind. He was such a mystery to her. Maybe he was a sickly creature, since he only had a few patches of fur. Or maybe he was one of those dangerous beings the elder ones spoke of, the ones that brought only destruction. Such thoughts filled her every waking moment that she had to search out the creature once more and see if he was such a terrible beast. she stepped toward the open field. It silent today, only the wind whistling through the long grass. |
This is actually a different story. I would really like your opinion on this one if you'd be willing. It is all the work in green
Lumos The sun rose upon the large training grounds of Akara, the most prestigious Lumos Academy, shinning on the people bustling around. Today was a day of excitement, for today the new Apprentices would be chosen. Young men from across the lands would come to see if they were worthy enough to become Lumos, the holy guardians of this world. To become a Lumos would mean that you were blessed by the gods in order to fight against the Shadows. It was the dream of every young man to become one. But in fact it was a very difficult thing to do. In order to become one, each young man must take three very difficult exams. Then, if they had passed, they would have to be chosen by a high ranking Lumos to be mentored Kylora stretched as she looked towards the huge towering buildings and the bright waving flags. That was her destination, Akara. Today she would fulfill her promise to her father and become a Lumos. She looked at her camp that was hidden near a lake and smiled a little. Laid out was the armor of her family. The dark silver armor was thin but would protect her when she would need it. Next to it laid the long sword that had been passed down in her family for generations. Her father used to say it was given to the very first Lumos in her family by the gods themselves in order to protect the world. Kylora walked past the weapon and looked at the lake. Her reflection stared back at her. She was a pretty girl, no doubt with long brown hair and dark green eyes. But that was something she didn’t want to show today. Today she had to hide her femininity in order to take the test. After all it was unheard of for a woman to become a warrior, lest of all a Lumos. Slowly she pulled her hair back and tied it up. Then she grabbed some fabric from her bag and bounded her chest. Once she had finished, she then placed her armor and helmet on and tied her sword to her side. Taking one more look at herself in the water, Kylora smiled and cleared her throat slightly before speaking. |
Well let’s go Ky.” She said, trying to make her voice sound as deep as possible. Gathering her things, she set out towards Akara. And what she hoped would be her future.
It only took a good hour’s walk for her to arrive at the gates of the large compound. Already dozens of men were arriving in hopes of being selected. Kylora gazed at those who would be her competition as she made her way into a line to enter. After awhile she reached the front. There an older man with silver hair looked at her. “Name?” he asked in a gruff but soft voice. “Kylo…. Ky Lionheart. I was recommended by Mora Dorith.” She said, swallowing slightly. “Lionheart? I didn’t know there were any sons of that clan left… well it’ll be nice to have a Lionheart once more. Good luck lad, not that you’ll need it.” He chuckled and winked at her before waving her off. Kylora let out a soft sigh of relief as she walked in. All around young men were laughing and training with each other, preparing for the tests. She stood off in a corner, her arms crossed as she quietly summed up those around her. It seemed like quite a few of them were very strong, which may prove to be a challenge for her. For although she was a skilled fighter, she was not quite as physically strong as most warriors. But she made up for it in her intelligence, speed and skill with her magic. Magic was a requirement for a Lumos, which caused many people to lose their dreams of being Lumos before even having them. Magic was something that one was born with. It could not be taught. One’s magic was gauged by how many runes appeared upon the person’s body when tapped into. Each rune had a different meaning and power deep within it. If one was skilled enough they could use the power held deep within them to increase their speed strength or power. It had even been said that the more runes one had, the closer they were related to the ancient gods. “Oi, whatcha doin over here?” Kylora heard a voice call to her. Turing around, she noticed a young man walking over. He looked to be about her height and had short blond hair and light brown eyes that seemed to sparkle as he smiled. He was wearing old and worn armor that looked as if it had been around since the ancient gods themselves and in his hands was a long halberd that he was currently using like a walking stick. “Dontcha wanna test your strength against some of the other people before the tests begin?” Kylora looked at him for a moment before shaking her head. “It’s better not to let anyone see what I can do. That way they won’t know what they’re fighting. “she said, smirking slightly. The young man blinked for a moment as if he never realized what she said, before scratching the back of his head. “I guess you’re right. I’m Brine Tyrine by the way… What’s your name?” “Ky, Ky Lionheart. Nice to meet you.” “Likewise. So, whatcha think the tests are gonna be?” Brine said, leaning back against a tree. “Well the first test will most likely be a written exam. Then probably a skills test followed by a competition. Most of this is to show the Lumos our potential, remember?” she said, matter of factly. “Oh…. Right. I knew that!” |
Kylora smiled at Brine. He seemed kind and honest, and if his muscles were indication, strong as well. She was happy that he had came up to her. At least she would have one friend.
“So, have you heard anything about anyone else taking the test?” She asked, looking at him slightly. “The only one I’ve heard about is Gen Malkess, of the Black Malkess Clan. Though neither of us will have to fight him likely. Thank goodness. He’s a broadsword user and supposedly one of the strongest men here. He even looks scary. Not very many big named clans though, from what I’ve heard fortunately. That gives us more of a chance, huh?” Kylora simply nodded before standing up straight. Up ahead quite a few of the soldiers were making their way towards the larger groups, shouting directions. They seemed to be ordering people to certain areas based on their weapons. Kylora turned to Brine before smiling at him. “It seems that for now we gotta separate. Let’s both do our best and become Lumos together!” she said, offering her hand to him. Brine smiled at the comment before nodding at her and grasped her arm as she did the same. “Lumos together! Good luck Ky!” he then released her arm and started towards the area he needed to go. Kylora also walked over to her area, which, oddly enough, had the smallest amount of people in it. She looked around and swallowed. There seemed to only be thirty men in her group. She knew that light swords weren’t very common but to have so few users was not normal. Slowly a young man with shaggy raven black hair stood in front of them. He wore a black tunic lined with silver and black pants, giving him a aura of importance, at his side was a pure silver sword. He looked like he had to be in his mid twenties, but his face didn’t hold the amusement or childishness in it that those she knew back home did. He seemed serious and determined. He made a motion for all of them to be silent before speaking. “You have all been chosen from your clans to attempt to become Lumos. This day is where you path may forever change. If you are chosen, you will likely never see your homeland again. You will become a warrior, taught to obey commands and eventually lead. I am Rayne Tidurus Commander of the Silverhawk Brigade, and I will be looking over you today. First you will be given a written exam, so that we may understand and test your knowledge of the Shadows and the world around you. If you pass you will then be tested on your marksmanship with a bow as well as your usage of basic magic. If you are skilled enough to pass that, you will be placed up against each other in order to display your skills to the current ranking Lumos. Now when I call your name please step into the room. There your test will be handed to you… Ky Lionheart!” Kylora swallowed as she walked forward entering the room, her body straight and her head held high. |
The test was quick and to Kylora rather simple. She had been drilled in such matters by her father before he passed away. But as she looked around, she could tell that quite a few of the other young men were having trouble. Once she had finished, they corrected the test and sent her to the large training area for the next part of the exam. As she walked over she noticed that the number of males had dropped significantly. From what she guessed was about five hundred young men had turned to a hundred and she assumed that probably only fifty would make it past this exam. She looked around for her examiner before catching sight of his shaggy black hair and walked towards him. Around him were nine other young men from her weapons class. “Good, now that you’re here Lionheart, the next exam can begin.” He said before turning around. Next to Kylora a young man spoke up. “S-Sir, what about the others?” he asked, seeming unsure. “Others? There are none. You are the only ones to have passed. Now please take position next to a bow and a quiver of arrows. Your marksmanship will be tested next.” All ten of them listened and quickly took their places. Kylora walked towards the end of the line. This gave her a chance to look around. Everywhere there seemed to be sets of people testing. Carefully she looked before she spotted Brine and let out a small sigh of relief. But someone else caught her eye. A large man with grizzled hair and angry features was shooting nearby. At his side was a large broad sword that looked to be too heavy for a normal man to hold. He seemed to be using magic to shoot at one of the targets. He was able to hit it straight on using lighting, but it wasn’t very powerful, and he looked almost angry at the fact. “Lionheart! Prepare your bow. It is now your turn!” Tidurus Shouted, jerking her form her thoughts. Quickly she strung her bow expertly and pulled out an arrow, looking at the target in front of her. Stringing the arrow, Kylora aimed at let it loose. She bit back a curse when the arrow barely hit the outer edge of the target. Next to her Commander TIdurus spoke. “If you want to make it to the next level, you’re gonna have to shoot better than that Lionheart.” |
Kylora looked at him for a moment before nodding and picking up another arrow. This time she focused and looked straight at the target before shooting once more. The arrow flew straight at its target hitting one of the inner circles. “Good job Lionheart, now show me your skills with your magic.” She smiled. Out of everything, her skills with magic were far surpassing the rest. She closed her eyes, her index and middle finger outstretched on her left hand, and whispered something under her breath. As she did, three runes seemed to appear around her wrist and her fingers were engulfed with white flame. Opening her eyes, Kylora flung her fingers towards the target, letting the flame loose. It seemed to soar before hitting the center circle dead on and quickly engulfing the target in the pure white flames. “Interesting…. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen white flames used. It seems your skills are sufficient enough. You pass. Please prepare for the next exam.” Kylora looked at him before smiling softly. It seemed as if everything was going according to plan. She was succeeding and no one had yet to notice that she was indeed female. Quietly, she watched the other groups go through their testing, trying to sum up possible competition. As the time passed she watched as people either join her or left the grounds, their dreams crushed. Finally there seemed to be only thirty or so young men together in the group. Brine had managed to make it to the final test as well and was standing next to her silently. She also noticed that the large man with the broad sword had passed as well. They all waited until at last they were ordered to another open training area where there seemed to be twelve or so men sitting there, waiting. Kylora swallowed as she stood there. One of the other solders began to speak to them about the rules for the third and final test. “…You will only have one battle to show your skills to the Lumos. If one finds you worthy, even if you loose, you will become their student and they will guide you on the path you have chosen. If you are not selected, then this is where your journey will end and you must find another path to choose. Usually you would only be pitted against those who have the same weapon preference as you, but due to the odd numbers some of you will have to fight against another weapon class. The pairs have been posted. Please go check who you are against. The first battle will be Brine Tyrine against Lios Saurin. Please come forth!” Once the soldier had finished speaking, all but Brine and the other man moved away in order to see who it was they were pitted against. Kylora swallowed as she made her way towards the front in search of her name. She quickly looked down the list until she saw her name at the very end. Slightly nervous she looked at the name across from it… Gen Malkess. Slowly stepping away, she couldn’t help but be slightly afraid, remembering what Brine had told her. She walked over and watched the battles go on. She watched as Brine managed to defeat his opponent and came back to her, giving her a thumbs up as he did. |
The battles seemed almost rhythmic to Kylora. It would begin and within a few moments one would loose his weapon and surrender. Finally it came to her battle. “Next battle Ky Lionheart versus Gen Malkess, please come forward!” the soldier shouted. Silently she stood up and walked towards the battle area, trying to take deep breaths to calm herself. As she looked up, the same large grizzled man she had seen before walked to her, his hand covering the hilt of his broadsword. “Please try to keep this a clean fight. You are being tested on your skills as a warrior. Now begin!” With those words the two were off. Kylora was the first to charge. Keeping low to the ground, she unsheathed her sword when she was close and tried to slash at his stomach. For his large body, Gen was able to move quite swiftly, dodging at the last moment and trying to swing down upon her. Kylora barely managed to dodge, tumbling out of the way. Gen was once more upon her when she stood, swinging his sword with as much power as he could. She managed to block each one, but only barely. She had to find a way to outsmart him, rather than use her strength against him. As she tried to form a plan, Gen took the moment to charge at her, using his shoulder to knock her to the ground. She crashed hard to the ground, her sword knocked away and her helmet falling off as she did. As she stood her long hair fell down her shoulders revealing her gender. She noticed a few gasps of shock amongst the other competitors and Lumos, but it was too late to give up. Gen, after getting over the shock, smirked and started to charge at her, his intent to kill obvious in his movements. It was fight or death now. She closed her eyes and outstretched her fingers, flame coming alive at the tips, white glowing runes flashing into existence up her outstretched arm. She had to get her sword back and to do that she had to distract him. Quickly she flung the fire at him, hoping to distract him as she ran for her sword. |
Crying out at the burning sensation, he turned to where she was running and flung out his hand, causing lighting to race towards her. Kylora barely dodged but managed to grab her sword, swiftly turning to counter Gen’s attack. She growled as metal clashed against metal. Her eyes were narrowed as she glared at the man in front of her. Even if there would be no chance of being selected now, she would prove her strength as she managed to break from him and charge once more. She now had to use her speed as an advantage. She kept to the ground until she attacked, aiming not for his sword or anything vital, but for his wrists. It was a dangerous tactic, but she knew it was the best. Finally, she managed to knock the sword out of his hand and quickly aimed it at his throat.
“I’ve won…” she said softly. After a moment Kylora stepped away and moved towards the ranks of young men, who just seemed to be staring at her. Around, whispers seemed to erupt. Finally an older man stood from the crowd. “This is an outrage! Women aren’t meant to be warriors. She should be disqualified!” he said, his voice loud and upset. To this statement, part of the crowd erupted into agreement. Then another man stood glaring at the first. “The only reason there aren’t any women warriors is because there has never been a woman worthy enough, until now. I say let the girl continue on, what harm could it do. If a Lumos selects her, then the gods have blessed her. If not, then she will leave like the others.” After finishing his statement another band of men shouted in agreement. Arguments broke loose in the crowd, debating on whether the girl should be allowed to stay for the choosing or not. Finally a very old and ancient looking man who was sitting in a large chair in the back stood and rose his hand up, almost instantly quieting the others. He looked at Kylora for a moment before slowly lowering his hand and speaking. “If the girl wishes to stay for judgement in hopes of being chosen, then she shall…. She has earned her place with the others.” He said, his voice serious and allowing no room for argument. Then sitting, the old man waved his hand to the instructor in order for everything to continue. Shocked Kylora smiled at stood straighter than she ever had. Proud to have earned her place. Sighing, the instructor walked over to them and began to congratulate them on their success and inform them about what would happen next. Quickly they all moved into one single line and knelt, their helmets in front of them. The soldier walked past each of them wishing them luck, stopping for a moment in front of Kylora. |
“Do not be disappointed if you are not selected girl… even if you did fight bravely.” He said softly. Kylora simply nodded her head, still looking down. They waited as the Lumos left their seats and slowly walked down the ranks, driving their swords into the dirt in front of the one they selected as their student. She watched out of the corner of her eye as she saw Brine being chosen as well a Gen. Eventually the number of Lumos shrank down to what seemed like nothing. She closed her eyes as she heard the soldier from before speak. “I’d like to congratulate those who have been chosen, may you be blessed as you serve the gods. As for the rest of you I am so-“ “Wait Roel…. I have yet to make my choice.” Kylora heard a familiar voice. “Rayne, you wish to select a student? Very Well…” he said “Though I’m afraid that the best have already been taken.” He whispered to the man who now passed him, walking towards the line. Rayne blinked for a moment before shrugging. He walked up and down the line for a moment. It almost gave him a surge of pleasure making the poor young men so nervous. It was then that he looked over at Kylora. Walking slowly towards her, he cleared his throat, causing her to look up. “If you choose this path, it will be filled with many hardships… are you sure you want to take it?” he said in an almost whisper to her. His face looked calm and almost tender as he spoke. “Yes…” Kylora said. The determination glistening in her eyes. He nodded at her for a moment before turning to the others. “My choice has been made.” |
This is my Third Story, and the last one I'm going to post for awhile. This was the first one I actually wrote and I would love to see what you all think about it? This one will be posted in Red
Life’s Blood. It was what vampires had called the first drop of blood that had touched the lips of the first vampire. Some say that it is because he drank it that he became a vampire, while others say that he was cursed for other reasons. Yet no matter what, the story’s results were the same. A vampire needed blood to live. I always used to think that it was just a simple story. One told to scare children. Too bad some stories usually have a grain of truth to them… “Ryan, where are you? It’s not nice to ask me to come all the way out here just to play hide and seek.” I shouted. As I looked around the forest had an eerie look to it. Even though I had spent most of my childhood wandering the forest, tonight it seemed more sinister than it had any other time I had come here. It’s probably because of the atmosphere, I told myself. It was the Festival of Legends, a weeklong celebration in honor of ghosts, monsters, and other creatures of legends that was held in my small town of Richmond. It was something that was said to scare away the ancient monsters that used to lurk in the forest when people first populated the area. Everyone who lived in our town was supposed to be a part of the celebration, dressing up as vampires, ghosts, wherewolves and other creatures. But instead of joining in the celebrations, I had snuck away from the festival in order to meet Ryan, a young man who had recently appeared in town. “Oi, Whatcha yelling at Fate? You’re gonna scare all the ghosts away,” Ryan said as he appeared from the shadows, a smirk evident on his face. I couldn’t help but smile at him, after all Ryan was the epitome of handsome, dark red-brown hair, a well built tan body, and deep blue eyes that one could get lost in. “Fate there’s something I want you to see.” He smiled as he held out his hand to me. I looked at him for a moment, unsure if I should trust him. After a moment I l took his hand nodding. He led me through the forest silently before slowing down a half hour later. After pushing back a few bushes I saw a small clearing. He then led me to a small lake in the center. |
“Oh Ryan… It’s beautiful,” I whispered. The pure crystalline lake seemed to reflect the forest around it, as well ass the rare and beautiful crimson red hunter’s moon. It just all seemed so romantic as I leaned back against him. I could feel him breathing as one of his hands slid around my waist. I looked at our reflections on the water, watching as his head dipped down and he kissed my neck softly. He then looked at our reflection. “You’re so beautiful. I want to make your beauty immortal. Fate, do you believe in the creatures of legends?” his voice was so hypnotic I simply nodded, wishing he would kiss my neck once more. His hand moved slightly over my stomach before he spoke again. “Would you like me to make you an immortal creature?” Once more I simply nodded, wishing his head would bob back down and kiss my neck once more. His hand moved slightly over my stomach before he spoke again. “Would you like me to make you an immortal creature?” Once more I simply nodded, my eyes slowly closing as his lips ressed against my neck once more. It was then that I heard him. “This will hurt for a moment.” He whispered against my neck. Before I could register the words, something sharp pierced my neck. “Welcome to the shadows, Fate…” |
Looking up at the hunter’s moon, I can’t help but remember that night almost forty years ago. As I stand and walk towards the window, I can see the reflection of a seventeen-year-old woman looking back at me. My hair is still the same dark chestnut brown and my eyes still shine with their dark blue intensity. The only difference between the seventeen me and the present me is the paleness of my skin. Gazing through the window, I watch he small town celebrating in the streets, but not one person sees me. Sometimes I wonder do any of them know that they’re not just celebrating legends, but true souls trapped in the shadows, tricked from the sun. I turn my head over to my bed as I hear the sounds of a young man waking. As he opens his eyes and looks at me, his hand suddenly moves to his neck, touching two fresh puncture wounds. He looked at me confused. I smile softly and walk over to him, cupping his cheek.
“Welcome to the shadows.” I whispered to him smiling. I had nothing against the poor boy, but it was what I needed to do. It was our survival tactic In order to live we needed to feed and create more of our own kind. It was simple, trick a young man, drain him and leave him to fend for himself in the shadows. I moved away and began to dress quickly. It was early in the night, and a perfect time to hunt. The young man looked at me, almost afraid. He stood up, still clinging to the sheets of the bed. “where are you going? You cant leave me like that!” I could hear the fear and uncertainty in his voice. It almost made me want to laugh. I wasn’t one who cared about my children, ad this boy was no different I walked over to him and leaned in kissing him softly an then smiled. |
“This is my advice to you child. Find someone you’re willing to drink from. Eat, and then leave. Oh and stay away from the sun.” Feeling that my lesson was complete, I walked out of the small room and then left the old hotel. I did feel somewhat bad for the young man, but I wasn’t in the mood to have a tag along.
As I walked through the small town, it seemed like the streets were brimming with men. As I listened to people, I discovered that a bunch of guys from a nearby university had come down to join the celebration I couldn’t help but lick my lips at the thought of all the fresh blood. It seemed I had found my perfect hunting ground. The night passed along as I flirted and made my way around, trying to find my next prey. I had found two young men who were more than happy to talk to me, probably hoping that one of them would score that night. I giggled and smiled, pretending to be interested in what they had to say. Finally, I had convinced the cuter of the two to leave with me. We quietly waved to his and began to walk away hand in hand. As we made our way to the hotel, a person bumped into me, knocking me to the floor. I swore softly at the way he didn’t even notice what he had done. Never one to take insult lightly, I forgot about my pervious conquest and followed him through the crowd. He seemed oblivious to me as he walked. It wasn’t until he finally stopped that he noticed me. “Um can I help you?” he said, slightly surprised to find me following him. “Yes, you bumped into me and I want you to apologize.” “Um… sorry?” his voice seemed to have a hoking tone to it that made me realize how stupid this was. For the first time in awhile I blushed. “My name’s Fate.” I said, trying to cover up my embarrassment. He smiled before reaching out his hand to me. “I’m Kris.” It was the first time that I really took a moment to look at him. His almond color hair was short but unkempt and his face was unshaved, which gave him an air of maturity. The light from the street lamp reflected on his glasses and hid his eyes from me. I couldn’t help but look at him for another moment. He wasn’t the usual type of prey I went after. He seemed….different. Slowly, I took his hand and shook it. We stood like that for a moment before I finally let go of his hand. He looked at me before taking off his jacket and handing it to me. |
“You seem cold,” He muttered as he thrusted his coat out to me. I blinked for a moment, surprised at his offer, before taking it and putting it on. I giggled softly as it seemed to engulf me and make me feel small compaired to him. “Thanks.” I whispered. “No problem…. Um hey, do you want to go get a drink or something?” The tone of my voice made me obvious to his nerviousness. I thought for a moment before nodding “I’d like that.” “He thruste his hands in his pockets and began to walk towards a nearby tavern, checking over his sholder to make sure I was following him. Erm... This is all I have of it at the moment... it seems that my file deleated a good chunk of it. I will have the rest for you all sooner or later... I promise! So tell me what you think of it? |
