“Yeah.” I complained, snapping the book closed. “I’m not a child anymore.” Then I run my fingers over the beautiful cover of the books I once loved. I found it stupid, I mean like you’ll love a book when you was younger and then a few years later, you can’t pick it back up again. I was unpacking my special box, a box full of special items. Like my first ballet shoes, a photo of my mother, the fairy tale book, and my old teddy. All of These small items were my specialist. As hard as I was finding it, moving into my father’s run down apartment, it was my new home.
My mother and father had split up when I was around five, and I had lived with my mother in Cornwall. I would now live I n the suburb on San Francisco, a flat house, containing only 5 small flats. It was different from my cottage in Cornwall; I missed the warmth from the fires. I rose up from my bed side table, where I was placing my special items, to put up a door curtain. It would do for now, I thought watching the light red fabric floating in the draft that leaked through the walls. It wasn’t perfect, but it would have to do for now. Moving into the Kitchen, I opened the fridge. “Damnit” I cursed, as a whole pile of TV dinners fell out of the fridge. Oh god, I thought what in the world has he been eating these eleven years. It took me a moment to figure out how long I had been gone from here. I was now sixteen, I left when I was five. So that made it what? Eleven years. Sighed, I shoved them into the large freezer, they barley fitted in due to the entire contents of the freezer being shoved full of the same dinners.
Grabbing my coat, and a twenty dollar note and walking down the old squeaky stairs. As new as I was to this city, I knew where to find a small grocery shop. There I brought what I couldn’t live with out. You know, the basics, Yogurt, Cheese, Milk, and surprisingly enough, groceries. They handed my a brown paper bag, stuffed with the content. Smiling, I took the bag, my heart set on looking after my father. I would get job, graduate from school and pay him my wages and stay at home with him. I walked into the supermarket, buying tin of this and tins of that, when I relised he wouldn’t have any plates. Ah, take that back, he had some old ones that would have to do for now. As I paid for my groceries, a boy caught my eye, he was about my age. Turning away I paid for my items and walked back to my flat quickly.
I shoved the contents of my bag into the cupboards, and had a rather cold shower. From where I laid on the couch bed, I could tell there was no central heating or warm water. Grumbling to myself about the flat. As I wound up my Lullaby my father walked in. “Good night Hon.” Watching him walk away, I turned on my side. My alarm was set at seven, a new school tomorrow.

Chapter 2

My father dropped me off at school, in this terrible car which desperately objecting to being run. I got out of the car, looking at the looming over populated school. Oh no. I thought, objecting to going to school at all. Sighing, I walked into school absolutely hating the way the security unit checked your bag. I watched, getting shoved at pushed, the people walking to there class with friends. Picking up my courage I walked to my English class. That was just it, English was a best subject. I watched a person walk gracefully into the room. Its him was all I could think its him, I saw him in the shop. He was walking towards me, full of grace. He slid into the seat next to me his eyes hard, and his skin tanned and perfect. To be honest, I was exasperated. Such a creator, he shouldn’t exceist on this planet. He moved away from he, pulling his chair as far as the desk would allow. Stunned, I sat there in silence reading the English book I had got given. I kept steeling glances at him, his looks. Well, they were something else. They were so impeccable. At that very moment the lunch bell rung. Sure thing, I had friends at least. Sophie and Tyler wandered over to me. Together we wandered to the lunch hall happily, chatting away like we had known each other years.
The day went by quickly; as soon as the bell went I started the walked home. I called of at a stall, grabbing a warm coffee to warm up my freezing cold hands. “Hey there. I’m Jasper. Nice to meet you Scarlet” His voice was softly, almost deadly
I opened my mouth to protest, and then shut it again. “Hi.” My voice was small and shy against his. “Would you let me walk you home?”
“If you wish. I mean, if you want.” I looked down helplessly at the snow.
“So, what brings you to this city?”
“I’m staying with my Father. “ Was all I said, throwing the empty Coffee cup away.
He watched me; I saw the flat coming into view. “You… A … Live… “He spluttered helplessly as I opened the front door to my flat. “Are you coming in or not?” I asked.
He nodded, I held the door open. “Ignore the mess.” I said, glancing round. I took his arm, pulling him through to my room. “I had to put it all up yesterday.” My room was transformed, from an abandoned mine into well, a better room. Not brilliant but better. “Well, this is something.” He said his voice smug.
“What?”
“Your room… Its so, Cold.” This made me chuckle stupidly.
“That’s because you left the door open stupid!”
“I know, It will still be cold. Go put a blanket round yourself or something.”
I must have stared, he gently held my shoulders, steering me to the airing cupboard, grabbing a blanket and rapping it around my shoulders.
What got me the next was something unexpected.
He took me into his arms and cradled me, the heat coming into my body quickly.
I felt a slight weight as he lent his chin on top of my head softly.
