The rain kept falling down.

Her midnight hair nearly blended into the background; almost completely swallowed by the sky. The crimson in her hair caught fire where the setting sun hit it. She always loved sunshowers, but the best ones were when the sun was setting. How fitting it was, that her name is Phoenix. Dark red, the colours painted across the sky.

She was wearing a soft cotton black corset top that hugged her amble frame. Slim, dark blue jeans raced down the length of her long legs, ending at the crimson and black shoes on her feet. Her eyes were closed, but they would occasionally flicker open to reveal red irises; gazing at the sun.

The rain kept falling down.

Phoenix had lost track of how long she had been out there. She was sitting on a stone bench, her back pressed firmly on the wall of her university. White stone, black figure, rose-coloured sky. A smile danced across her lips as she thought, "Mm, my favourite colours." She watched as the sun began to sink behind the trees that separated the campus from the rest of the world, wondering who would soon be waking up to greet a new day.

"You're going to catch a cold like that." Phoenix started as the voice broke the monotone song of the raindrops. It was an entirely unwelcome intrusion, however.

"Neo," she murmured, her eyes never leaving the breath-taking scene before her. The sky seemed alight like a wildfire; an image reflected in the passion of her eyes. "What are you doing here?" She did not move a muscle, but the space beside her suddenly seemed to increase.

Neo took his cue, and carefully perched beside her. "I never understood why you like the rain so much." Phoenix shrugged her reply, still captivated as the raindrops persisted, and the sun continued to descend. He tried to follow her gaze, but he did not gain the same enjoyment of watching the sky. "Phe..." he whispered, leaning close.

Phoenix resisted the urge to shrug him away, make him stop breathing on her ear. "That's tickling me," she stated, trying not to let him know how much she loved the feeling. "What is it?" She now, finally, turned to face him.

His blond hair seemed golden in the dying light, his eyes ultramarine eyes sparkled from beyond the sea. There was something about those eyes that always startled her, but mesmerized her and pulled her in. Even now, Phoenix knew it would be impossible to look away, even for a brief moment.

The rain kept falling down.

Fire and ice, their gazes locked together. Neo eventually looked away, leaving Phoenix feeling cheated. Instead, she began to search him, trying to uncover some clue as to his reasoning for being here. He was wearing a loose, light blue t-shirt that was slick with rain. It clung to his body, but Phoenix did not mind. Her eyes traveled further, noting that he was wearing the jeans she had bought him the month before. Her eyes sparked in surprise at his shoes, however.

"Crocs!?" She laughed, practically yelling, "When did you get Crocs!" She nearly keeled over laughing, and tried to make a swipe at them. Neo playfully batted her away, and grinned sheepishly.

"They aren't mine. I borrowed them from Blake." He too dissolved into laughter as soon as he spoke these words. Blake, who preferred more neutral tones, and avoided trends like the plague, was not someone who anyone would have believed to have owned a pair of bright yellow Crocs.

The rain kept falling down.

"Those are absolutely hideous!" Phoenix reached over, and tried to grab them from his feet. She misjudged her length, and perfected a maladroit landing. Neo hand to circle his arms around her, to keep her from falling to the soaked earth below. When her peals of laughed finally subsided, Phoenix said, "Oh."

"What is it?" Neo frowned in confusion. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she answered, warmth entering her voice, "Better then okay." She leaned closer, fixing herself so she was comfortable and sheltered in his arms. "I'm perfect." Phoenix looked up, gazing into his ultramarine eyes. "How about you?" You could get lost in those depths.

"I think I'm about the same." Neo couldn't quite look away from her crimson irises. You could get consumed by those flames.

Neo bent down, just as Phoenix tilted her head. Their lips met half-way, and each of them sighed in contentment. Just perfect.

They stayed there, oblivious to their surroundings, trapped in their passionate bliss. The rain kept falling down, soaking the ground, kissing every surface with life. The earth drank greedily, sharing its wealth with the flowers and trees that littered the campus. The water sped over the rooftops, washing away the dirt and grim, renewing, eroding, changing whatever it touched so that it was never the same again.

The rain continued to fall as the two lovers kissed.

Oblivious.

Content.

Perfect.
