Sometimes even people who are surrounded by others feel alone.
Sometimes when someone you love dies starting over is the best thing.

~Chapter 1 The Encounter~
Music blasted making my body vibrate. Everyone around me either held a drink, was talking, or grinding on each other.

The strobe lights made my eyes feel disconnected. People moved in stop animation. Each second a new frame.

But frame by frame my heart broke more. Loneliness crept into me as I watched my twin brother talk happily with a bunch of girls. I knew he was judging whether he wanted to take one of them back with us for the night.

Sighing I got up and walked down the steps and moved my way through the crowd. I stepped outside and smiled lightly. The moon was full behind the darkening clouds that hung over head. The breeze was cool as it danced against my face.

A soft voice came against the pulsing thud of the music that pulsed in the building behind me. I looked to my left and saw a small girl sitting against the wall of the opposite building. She had her eyes closed as the pushed her hair against the brick wall. White wires ran down underneath her hair telling me that she was listening to music. She swayed lightly with her words. I was drawn to her. I moved to her side and sat down. She opened one eyes on the side where I sat and blushed. She pulled out her ear buds and they fell gracefully into her awaiting hand.

“I’m sorry,” She apologized, embarrassment clear in her voice. I smiled and I saw her face redden even more.

“I’m Bill,” I said after a few awkward moments of silence. I held out my hand and she looked at it. I smiled reassuringly and moved my hand closer. She looked at me then my hand to finally uncurl her hand from her leg and take it.

“I’m Heather,” She answered back. Every now and then the moon would reflect light into her eyes turning them from pools of the blackest ink to almost honey brown. Her hand was small in mine, but her fingers were long and beautiful. Her nails were exactly the same as mine. Black with white tips. I knew she was shorter than me because even sitting I was taller.

The light caught her ears and I noticed the glimmer of earrings. She had her ears pierced four times, three of which made up the German flag. Around her neck was the black part of the Yin-Yang as well as a chain with a lock on it.

“Heather,” I said quietly testing out her name. I liked the way it rolled off my tongue. I looked into her eyes and saw a moment of lust. I knew that my eyes mirror the emotion. I smirked, something I didn’t do often as she pushed her hair behind her ears. I caught her wrist and she looked up at me surprised.

My heart jumped with a strange emotion. Suddenly I couldn’t find the emptiness or loneliness that had an icy hand on my heart.

The shock must have worn off because she smiled and leaned forward. Her lips gave my cheeks the barest of touches, but it ran through my whole body. I reached up and touched her face. Cupping her cheek I leaned forward, but she snapped back.

“I’m sorry,” She said lightly. She tried to move away from me, but I tugged on her wrist pulling her closer to me.

“Do it again.” I said. Even to me it sounded like I was begging for it. She blushed and repeated the action. My heart fluttered. She looked down and began to twist her bracelets.

“What are you doing out here?” I asked trying to break the silence with her sweet voice. She opened her mouth and lifted her finger in the air as if pointing up.

“I was into my music more?” She asked as if uncertain if she was uncertain of what excuse to give. She laughed at herself and gave me a shrug. “I love to dance, but today something told me to stay outside. I’m not ready to face people.”

I looked at her confused, but sighed. “I know the feeling.” My heart fell back into the pit of the forsaken. I knew how it was to want to disappear into a hole and never be seen again.

“What’s your excuse?” Her voice was light and almost seemed distracted. Looking at her I knew it was. Her eyes were transfixed on what lay on the other side of the road. A graveyard stood there, though it seemed almost unreal.

“Would you believe me if I said loneliness?” The moon fell back behind clouds making us half shadowed. I saw her eyes widen as if something triggered another thing in her mind.

Suddenly a familiar guitar rift sounded out from her ear buds. She blushed and got up. I pulled myself up and looked at her. Tears clouded her eyes.

“It was nice meeting you Bill,” She said as she tried to squeeze past me. I blocked her path and she cried out. She looked up at me and pleaded. I shifted my weight and she moved past me. I caught the glimmer of fallen tears as the moon reflected into them. Time seemed to stop until I let out a breath I didn’t know I had been holding. My eyes scanned where she was sitting and noticed a black and red bag. I kneeled down and opened it. The first thing that caught my eye was a piece of black paper with red writing.

I turned it over and saw a picture of a guy with a background of a beautifully drawn graveyard. Underneath the picture was two sets of dates; One from nineteen years ago to one a week ago. What caught my eye was a poem that was in purple letters.

“Dear Love,

Forever mine is what I had always said.

Forever we will live happily ever after.

Forever didn’t work out for us.

The tears I cry are for the love we shared.

The tears I cry are for the lost moments we should have shared.

It ended that night.

Everyone said I should start over.

It began that night.

Everyone said I should be happy that the suffering had ended.

Forever will I remember me in your arms.

Rest in Peace

~ Forever Your Love

Heather Wang.”

I stared at a picture that followed the words on the other side of the paper. The boy and Heather were smiling at the camera. Heather was in the boys are protectively and possessively. She looked happy and had a certain sparkle in her eyes that was void when the moon’s glow reflected into them.

“Bill?” A voice asked and I looked up into my twin’s face.

“Yes, Tom?” I answered as I carefully put the paper back into the bag. My heart had fallen back into its cold loneliness once again.

“Are you okay?” He asked concerned. I nodded and put on my most happy and reassuring smile I could muster. Tom sighed a little, “Ready?”

“Yea let’s go back,” I answered as I put the bag around my shoulder and looked back at the spot where my newest friend had sat. She had taken away the pain; I needed to find her again.
