I am

I am the one you look up to
And the one you look down upon
I am the friend at your side
And the enemy behind

I am the happiness you show
And the sadness you don’t
I’m the scars that won’t heal
And the pain that won’t fade

I am the earth that you stand on
And the air that you breathe
I’m the water you drink
And the food that you eat

I am the light that you worship
And the darkness you fear
I am the life that you live
And the death that hangs near

I am all of these things
Yet I am none of them
I am you
And you are me

Humans

Human beings those cruel machines
All they do is start wars
They lie
They cheat
And they steal

They are truly selfish creatures only capable of violence
Vile and disgusting
They don’t deserve the life they’ve been given
Or the earth on which they reside

Only contempt do I have for them
Only hatred do they invoke in me
Reckless
Spiteful
They act on impulse
And long only for pleasures which they cannot have

Once the proud children of mother earth
Now evil and twisted
Oh sad turn of fate
That has put this world in such a state
Maybe in time they’ll learn
Yet I fear by then it may be too late
