This poem, while rather long, is pretty much the pinnacle of my work. This poem describes my truest fear and the deepest depth to which it goes and how much it shuts my heart down just thinking of this fear. I really would love some opinions on it, especially from those who aren't mentioned in the poem so I hope you can take the time to read it. Also if you do decide to review, if you like it can you please tell me why and if you hate it again please tell me why.
I am Strong
I am strong
I can stand alone so easily,
Yet in my heart
I know surely
I would fall so simply
If those I loved vanished suddenly.
If death had claimed them
My strength would be gone.
I’d be broken and
Could no longer stand.
I’d be merely a shell,
No longer who I am.
I am strong
Not for me,
But for you
I stand for you,
For those my heart loves most dearly.
Those special few
Whom I trust implicitly.
I know the pain of loss
Have felt its bitter bite.
The fear of losing you:
Mom,
Dad,
Michelle,
Lizzy
Stalls my heart
And consumes my mind.
Mom…
My guiding light,
My brave protector,
Whom I love so much.
And I need you with me,
Even when I fight you
And try to stand alone.
My heart still needs you
For you I am standing strong.
Dad…
My guiding light,
The father I love so much.
The one whom I talk with
And discuss my views.
For you am I standing strong.
Michelle…
My sister dear,
We may differ
And we surely argue,
But without you as
An example and a guide
I’d be a different girl.
For you I am standing strong.
Lizzy…
Sister of my heart,
A best friend whose always there.
You know me so well.
And tell me often
What I refuse to feel.
Without your truthful words
And heartfelt love
I’d have lost myself long ago.
For you I am standing strong.
My hearts loves you four so dearly
At times it beats for you.
For you I am standing strong
Or else I’d be standing lost.
