This is a peom I wrote about three years, back in sophomore year. Like every other 'emo' high school poem, it's about a crush, and realizing that it'll only ever be just a crush. Looking back now I find a strikingly odd resemblence to Avril Lavigne's "Skater Boi", which was TOTALLY unintentional

Here's a story for the sad of heart
About how a love could fall apart,
Or even if a love never began
I have a feeling you'll understand...

She was a girl who held her head high
And promised to never let him see her cry.
She was, however, broken inside
With low self-esteem and a wanting to hide.

He was a punk, but also sincere.
His friends were his family, and to him, very dear.
He had a secret never to be told
Of a love for a girl he wanted to hold.

His friends all made fun, and he never knew
That the girl that he loved had loved him too.
He never did tell her how he really felt
And he never knew that he made her heart melt.

She saw him in class every weekday
And she could never gather up the courage to say
That she liked him a lot, and all she could do
Was keep to herself, and he did so too.

He saw her one day, right after school
With all of her friends, and he thought it was cool
That she was herself and couldn't care less
What others thought when she was a mess.

He caught her eye so she walked his way,
And at theat exact moment she knew what to say...
"I like you a lot and I thought you should know
That I want to be friends, and we'll see how things go."

He looked at her and nodded his,
And after a moment of silence he said,
"I know how you feel." and he knew what to do -
He kissed her lips and said, "I love you too."

Then the teacher called on her name
And everything around was exactly the same.
It was then she realized that what has just seemed
To be sweet reality was yet another daydream.
