Old poem I wrote back in grade 9 so like 6 years ago. Still somewhat relevant today but tis mostly more nostalgic than anything. I'm less depressed in my thoughts on the world and more cynical.

Lost world

I write about what I see
in this world surrounding me
I see the dying earth and trees
foxes, bears, birds, and bees

I still see the separation of race and class
I though we left that in the past
I see the lies, hate and deception
though this is only my perception

I see the old ways leaving us
lost to greed, fear and distrust
Be an individual is what were told
but still we must fit societies mold

I see people selling their souls
just to have more important roles
I write about what I see
in this lost world surrounding me

Ok so still cynical there but more contemplative than anything. Makes me want to write a newer version.

Heh, isn't that a familiar name.

It reads like something written in the ninth grade. Not saying that it's poorly written, just that it presents that sort of world view. There's a certain raw honesty to poetry we write in our youth, isn't there. It made me smile, and reminded me of some of my own early works. So, yes, I sympathize with the nostalgic feeling it might bring.

no more familiar than your own.

Ahh yes not my best work but probably the most truthful and heartful thing I wrote that year that didn't get me sent to guidance. Man i keep going through Lj and reading lots of my old stuff ( omg the spell errors) nostalgia is on the rise
