Yellow Rose
 

Just was looking at an old notebook of mine and noticed a poem I'd written. I think I probably wrote it right after seeing a list of flower meanings. From what I remember, yellow roses are used to say "I'm sorry".

Yellow Rose
When the sun hangs high in the sky
all beneath thrives in its light.
It makes me wonder why a rose of same warm hue
should rest against the dark finality of the coffin
or be used as an apology.
Yellow roses overstate their intentions.
Rarely are they meant to bring back the glorious sun,
but only to stop the downpour of grief.
The rain may stop, but the clouds remain,
and no ray of light touches the silky petals,
letting them curl,
wither,
and die.

I like it. It gives me some type of insigt on a yellow rose and it's purpose.
