So yes. It's going to be a mixture of short stories and poetry, because I love writing both... though I'm not as good at short stories as poetry because I never seem to want to stop writing. But oh well. Anyway, that's not the point. M'kay, I'mma shut up now, otherwise I'm going to blather on like an idiot, and this is supposed to be filled with drabbles, not blathers.

c h a r a c t e r s ; ~

Well, here are some characters who may show up. But who knows. They're all characters from a novel I plan to write some day.... though I'm not putting in ALL my characters because I doubt I'll use them all here. Plus, there's a hell of a lot of 'em. XD

Rexi :: a female cat-girl in her late teens with dark brown hair, chocolate eyes, and dark brown fur on her feline ears & tail. Her parents died when she was young, and she lives with her younger sister, Kit, whom she loves very much. She is often quite forgetful, but she means well. Has a tendency to overreact to situations, whether it be in fearful spazzing or anger when she's frustrated. Possesses a mysterious deck of cards which enable her to do some extraordinary things.

Kit :: a young female cat-girl with light blonde hair, hazel eyes, and purple-ish brown fur on her feline ears & tail. Rexi's little sister. She's very shy around mostly everybody, but opens up around Rexi because she's one of the few people she really trusts. Otherwise, she's quite the inquisitive child - she does well in all her classes, especially in her science and math classes. Possesses a kind of youthful energy and hopeful attitude that is only slightly muted by her mask of quietness around others.

Wendy :: a female genetic experiment in her mid-teens. She has light pink hair and her left eye is hazel. Her right eye is taken over by a light pink rose. Vines and other light pink roses grow from all over her body - eventually they will take over her entirely. She speaks rarely and for short periods of time, though when she does her speech patterns are strange and her vocabulary is incredible. She seems to know way more than she should and it often mystifies people.

Cecille :: a female genetic experiment in her late-teens. She has light brown hair and dark purple-brown eyes that almost always appear to be eerily vacant. She shares a room with Wendy and they are friends. Her tendencies are sadistic and she loves playing with peoples' minds, except for those who have earned her respect -- the only one who has done that so far is Wendy. Otherwise, she uses it as a way to test people, to see if they deserve her respect. She has acquired necromantic powers through a fluke in her genetic experimentation.

Penelope Garth :: a female with long black hair and brown eyes in her late teens. She is a friend of Rexi's, though she is much more organized and infinitely less forgetful. A cunning writer and over-achiever, academics are one of her priorities in life. Often a little too blunt for her own good. She dresses in a gothic sort of style, but is often seen as quite cheerful.

Charis Glenn :: a female with white-blonde hair and brown eyes. Her age is difficult to tell. She is a shadow necromancer, and dislikes being around others. She would much rather be alone in her thoughts or studying further in shadow magic than spend time with any other being. She is highly intelligent and once she is committed to something, she sticks with it, even if she regrets it later.

Marie Kent :: a female with pastel-like-blue hair and similarly coloured eyes in her late teens. A rather quiet girl who prefers to just listen to music, though she is very loyal to her friends when they need her. Her calm demeanour often helps her solve problems quickly. Often sleepy. She has a little brother named Dorian, who she doesn't really pay much attention to, but loves dearly.

Kenna Doriens :: a female with blonde hair and light blue eyes in her mid-to-late twenties. She's a famous singer. Very kind and giving, but if you cross her, her cold anger is deadly. She is very creative and surprisingly insecure about herself, despite her huge success over the years.

*** Dorian Kent :: a young boy with light blonde hair and violet eyes. Very innocent and day-dreamy, he plans on spending his future days adventuring far away from The City. He is quite skinny and awkward looking, but has a cute face. Humorously enough, in all his daydreams, he sees himself as very buff and handsome looking.

Tse Rewer :: an elven male with blue hair and ice blue eyes in his late teens. His ears are slightly pointed at the end. A friendly and charming male with a good sense of humour. However, he harbours an intense disgust for genetic modifications of any sort whatsoever. Can be aggressive if provoked, but is very protective and caring of those under his care.

Zaida :: a female with bright orange hair and dark brown eyes in her mid-to-late teens. Quirky yet childish at times. Easily excited and fascinated by genetic modifications -- they just seem so interesting to her. A good friend of Tse, despite their different views on genetic modifications. Has an interesting ability to shift people's luck for the better or the worse.

Kara :: a female with jet black hair and dark brown eyes of indeterminate age. She's a demon and she feeds off of pain energy. She likes toying around with people emotionally as well as physically. Has powers of flight, far-seeing, and a few other hidden demon powers as well.

Petrov :: a male with ruffled brown hair and piercing green eyes. He's in around 25 or so. His main motivator is greed -- he sells people [usually children, for it`s less likely anybody will realize they are missing in The City] on the black market for whatever purposes the buyer may want. His most frequent customers are demons, looking for a discrete location to satiate their pain cravings. Kara is a semi-frequent customer.

Michael :: a male with blond hair and blue eyes. He looks to be in his late twenties, early thirties. He is Kenna`s manager and close friend. Protective, humourous, and gentle, he is a great friend, though he is difficult to get to know. He appears to be hiding something, though.

Dorian sighed, looking out the window with deep purple eyes gazing far-off into the distance. The light breeze coming in from the window was not nearly as pleasant as the one he was hoping for, but it was all he could ask for at the moment, stuck as he was in The City during the summer months... not that he wasn't ever not stuck in The City. Where would he go anyway? The City was everywhere and... no, he wouldn't think on that just now. He was too young to do anything about it at the moment anyhow. Besides, he was a skinny little kid who still attended school - it wasn't as if he'd have the time to go out and take the test.

And so he let his mind wander off, thinking of far more pleasant things. What shall I have for breakfast? he found himself pondering dreamily. Not exactly the adventures he usually daydreamed about, but it was something. Hm, maybe that would be his adventure today - on his way down to breakfast, he could encounter demons to fight back, and damsels in distress that needed saving! Of course, the battle would be easy for he was a strong, highly muscled man, and one whose breakfast had been interrupted. After saving the girl, he could feast with her in a large dining hall, filled with all the delicacies one could ever imagine...

Oh yes, he was a Fool, but he was too foolish to see it.

It was strange, convoluted, and just plain confusing. These emotions, normal for regular beings, were unusual in one such as he. For sure, he had felt emotion in his long lifespan, even such a confusing one as this, though always in a different context. He loved life and, for sure, he loved all the beings he was sworn to protect. But he had never loved.

It was such terrible timing too. If it had been any other time, maybe it might have worked, but now when things were beginning to get dangerous and enemies were looking for a way to lure her out of hiding... no. He couldn`t risk it.
