#1: Night

Style: Semi-personal monologue.

I look away from the screen and out of the window, my eyes beholding a dazzling array of twinkling lights, both in and below the sky. This has always been my favourite time of the day, the world begins to slow down, the air clears and the world around us lights up and from my point of view, high up in an apartment block, resembles a never-ending scattering of glittering diamonds against black cloth. A million, million points of light and I wonder how many others are doing the same and marvelling at the darkened world as I do.

Nature isn't alone in taking on a fresh, new beauty; towns and cities, beacons of human civilization, pulse and swirl with a neon radiance of their own and there is little to beat being on the road during such times to see a great metropolis in all it's splendor.

Whilst others shun the darkness behind drawn curtains, or seek sleep in their beds, I am witness to this 'other world' and all it's marvels, for I am a night owl.
