Fiziali's Fun Factory...A 25 Word Drabble Attempt
Hmm, seeing as our Round Robin didn't go over very well, and I've never done a drabble before, I think I'll give it a go. I think I'll start with 25 words, and expand it further if it seems to go well. If anyone has any C&C's they would like to add, please feel free to do so, but please be kind, as this is new to me :)

Dream
Walking along the beach at sunset, I looked out over the ocean and witnessed the most beautiful display of colors playing across the water. Hues of red and gold entwined with the blues and greens of the ocean, creating a magnificent display, so radiant, it spoke to my soul. I stood there a while, just watching this ethereal show of colors, enchanted by it's beauty. Eventually the sky turned pink and the golden hues disappeared, as the sun dipped below the surface of the water, and after a time, even the pink hues disappeared. I continued my walk along the beach in the darkness, the light of the moon and the stars shining down upon the water now, pondering what I had just witnessed. The sunset was etched in my mind, as if in a dream. |
Butterfly
A rainbow of colors, both bright and pastel, were painted across the landscape, like a painting upon a canvas. I sat in the midst of this rainbow, surrounded by a sea of color that spread out in every direction as far as the eye could see. Up close, the colors were quite visibly separated from one another, but the further I looked out, the more distorted they became, as they blended together, forming a thunderous cloud. The colors moved, flitting about, first in one direction, then another, lifting higher, ever higher into the sky, until all that was left in it's wake was a single butterfly, landed upon my finger. |
Meadow
A few autumn-hued leaves fall gracefully to the ground, knocked loose by a breeze from the branches of the old maple tree, standing lonely and forlorn among the golden grass. The old cow ambled lazily through the field, chewing it's cud. The small rabbit peered out of it's burrow, it's nose twitching as it sniffed the air. A sparrow flew down and landed in the branches of the old maple, taking a break from it's southern bound journey. The ground hog, spooked by it's own shadow, made a dive into the tunnel it had dug. The fawn, feeling playful, bounded around it's mother who sat grazing peacefully upon the grasses. A squirrel scampered up into the old maple tree, carrying the treasure he had found, stowing it away into the home he'd made within the tree, food for the coming winter months. The meadow was alive with activity, yet there was no one around to observe and enjoy it. |
Iridescent
I lay in my bed watching the iridescent color's play upon my wall. A rainbow of light danced around as if a small fae were flitting about, splashing paint upon a canvas. The hypnotic movement of colors mesmerized me, leaving me in a trance like state as I watched the colors transform. It was almost as if I were looking through a kaleidoscope, except the patterns and shapes were blurred. Suddenly the colors began to swirl rapidly, shaking me out of my trance, and I turned to see what had caused this interruption. A strong wind had sprung up outside, causing the sun catcher that hung from the eaves to spin around and around like a top. |
Beautiful
The colors in the painting are quite bold, a harsh contrast against the white walls of the physician's office, adding some character to the otherwise dull waiting room. The colors dance and swirl around in an ethereal cloud of confusion, the patterns ever changing, as I watch the aurora borealis in the heavens above me. The colors of the leaves change from green, to gold, to red, to brown, as autumn's beauty unfolds around us. The colors within are undulating as the quicksilver slides it's way slowly upwards as it registers the child's temperature, stopping at 96.6, normal. The colors on the tray are arranged in a delicious array of red, purple, yellow, orange, green, and blue, a rainbow of fruit, tantalizing to any palate. The colors of the sunset spread out across the sky in an invigorating splash of red and orange, painted across an endless canvas. The colors were fused together in such a way, one could not tell where they first began, or where they ended. The colors of the house were enhanced greatly by the trim painted in a natural looking umber, giving the house a rustic look. The colors appeared fluid although the painting was already dry, having been made to appear as a liquid poured from a can. In so many places and so many spaces, throughout the world around us we are surrounded by so much color even within our imaginations. I find all these colors to be quite beautiful and cannot imagine my life without them. |
Forest
Rabbits scampering about in the underbrush, nibbling on leaves and grass. Squirrels clambering about looking for nuts to store with their winter stash. A fawn lays silently awaiting the return of his mother. The doe stands at the edge of the clearing, peering out into the field. She sees nothing threatening, yet she senses danger all around her. Tentatively she steps out among the tall grass. Suddenly the air resounds with a clap of thunder. The doe springs to life and whirls about. She bounds back into the forest, her tail lifted high displaying it's flag of warning. The hunter had missed his mark. |
