Mitsu was a poor poor poor boy. Well close enough at least. A struggling art student at the local university, Mitsu often wondered why he was there. Why you may ask?

Well to put it simply, Mitsu had the talent, but lacked the creativity. His teachers would often tell him, "Mitsu you have great talent, but you never think outside of the box."

So here was, sitting on the edge of street on a cold rainy day. His last project rejected by his teacher for being something generic and common that all unworthy students did at one point or another. So it was a bowl of fruit! Why didn't the teacher just accept it!?!?

Mitsu sniffled. He was going to be sick in the morning having stayed all night out in the rain, but he wasn't caring. Why did he have to possess only half of what was needed to be a great artist?

A car came speeding down the street, splashing Mitsu. He cursed as he noticed his paints had fallen over and were spilling into the street. "Damnit!" Mitsu cursed. Those paints were expensive! Oh why did everything have to go so wrong all the time?

Deciding it would probably be best to head into door, Mitsu picked up his paints and go inside. He dumped in the kitchen and headed to bed. Perhaps tomorrow would be a better day. As he left, he didn't notice that his paints began to glow.

Mitsu crawled into bed. Dreamland here I come,' he thought.

--------------

Morning came all to fast for Mitsu. He slowly open his eyes... to find a pair of yellow ones staring back at him. He sat up quickly, becoming alert. "What the hell?" he shouted. Why on earth where there six different girls with different hair colors in his room?!

Aliena 10-01-2007 01:27 PM

He closed his eyes, rubbed them, and opened them again and the six girls were still there. The one with red hair was violently turning the pages of a magazine she had picked up off his dresser while the one with yellow hair flopped down at the base of his bed. She noticed him looking at her with a dazed look on his face and chirped, "Good morning, sunshine!"

The red-haired one glared at her, looking like she wanted to wipe the smile off her face. "She's way too cheerful this time of day, don't you think? Any time of day for that matter. It's irritating!"

Mitsu shifted his gaze over to where the blue-haired one sat in the corner, clutching a handkerchief. She looked as if she were about to cry. The green haired one saw the look of concern on his face and quickly reached for his attention. "Don't pay any attention to her. It's all an act. Miss doom and gloom..."

"What?" Mitsu was taken back by the green haired girl's seeming jealousy. The orange haired one didn't give him time to ponder this as she pulled him out of bed.

"Come on! Come on! Time to get up. There's no time to be lazy! Up up up!"

"You have way too much energy this morning," he groaned as he obliged. "Who are all of you? This is too weird."

"There're more of us downstairs," came a soft voice. Mitsu turned to see a purple haired girl looking out the window. She turned toward him and he noticed she carried herself with an air of regality. She held out her hand. "My name is Viola." He shook it, still somewhat confused, but she looked down at him with a raised eyebrow. He glanced over toward yellow and the cheerful girl mimicked kissing the back of her hand. Mitsu turned back toward Viola and raised her hand to his lips, laying an awkward kiss on top.

Satisfied at his display of respect, the girl pulled her hand back. "Who are we? What if I told you we're someone you've known for a long time, but that you have forgotten us intimately?"

Mitsu looked startled. He had no recollection of ever seeing these girls. How would he have ever known them intimately? He had never had luck with women. Heck, he could barely get Ela across the street to look at him. If he had known any of these girls, he certainly wouldn't have forgotten that!

Seito 10-01-2007 05:37 PM

Mitsu racked his brain trying to remember where he had met these girls. It was then that it dawned on him what Viola had said. "Wait there's more of you?"

He left the room, nearly stumbling down the stairs and into his kitchen. Or what was left of his kitchen anyways. A girl with pink hair was trying to grab the night away from a girl with black hair while a girl with white hair was just watching. His kitchen, for the lack of a better word, was a mess. Nearly everything was shattered and broken.

"Leave me alone!!" the black haired girl wailed.

"Nyu!! Obsidian! Don't do it!!" the pink haired girl replied.

"Rose, you really shouldn't bother and just let her kill herself," said the white hair girl.

Rose stared at her. "Ivory! How can you say that! She's your sister!"

"Will you two keep it down?" A girl with silver hair entered the kitchen and snatched the knife out of Obsidian's hands. In the back ground Ivory muttered along the lines of "she's your sister too."

"Thank you Sterling!" Rose hugged her other sister.

Behind the silver haired girl (who's name was apparently Sterling), Mitsu could see a gold haired one clinging to his small piggy bank, rocking back and forth. "Hehehe," she whispered. "Mines... mines!! All mines!!"

"Who are all you people?!" Mitsu shouted.

By now the six girls from upstairs had joined him. Sterling stared at him. "You mean you haven't figured it out?" she asked coldly.

"I wouldn't be asking if I did," Mitsu snapped back.

"Someone is a little grumpy this morning," the yellow hair girl replied cheerfully.

"We're the Hues," Ivory spoke up in a monotone voice. "In order of the Rainbow, Ruby, Orange, Sun, Emerald, Azure, Viola. Black and White - Obisdian and myself Ivory. Pink here is Rose, and silver and gold are Sterling and Caramel. There's a few more of us around somewhere, but I won't be surprised if they never show up, or just pop up one day."

Aliena 10-01-2007 08:18 PM

"The Hughes?" Mitsu asked. "Did you guys just move in next door? I swear! I've been asking the landlord to fix my lock for weeks now!" It was too early in the morning for all this chaos!

"Not the Hughes, silly!" Sun laughed. "Your Hues. You know, as in colors...paints!"

"Idiot!" grumbled Ruby.

"Don't mind her," Sun giggled and then whispered loud enough for everyone to hear. "She's got anger issues."

"This is ridiculous!" Mitsu said, now pacing back and forth. "It doesn't make sense. There's no way you can be my paints. I put them right--" his voice trailed off when he saw the empty artist case. "--there."

"Try dumped rather than put," Ruby glared, pulling up her shirt sleeve and showing him the resulting bruise from being dumped. "And that's another thing. It's not our fault you painted something so uninspired. The least you could do is try to be a bit more respectful when handling us."

Viola saw that Mitsu looked as if his knees were going to give out underneath him, so she led him to a chair. "You're not dreaming this. I can't explain it either, but here we are and apparently we're not going anywhere until something sends us back."

He looked up at the purple-haired girl and said, "You mean...I'm stuck with a houseful of...paints until who knows when?"

"Hues," she corrected.

"Um, guys, I'm getting cabin fever here! I'm going out for a jog," Orange piped up as she headed toward the door. The door slammed but a moment later and as it did, Mitsu rose to his feet. The expression on his face was completely blank. The Hues all looked at him, expectantly, waiting. But they would be disappointed. He simply turned around and walked the way he came.

"Where are you going?" called Sterling.

"Back to bed," he mumbled.

Seito 10-01-2007 09:54 PM

Mitsu was half convinced that he was still dreaming. He was going to crawl into bed and got back to sleep and when he woke up there weren't going to be girls with weird colored hair in his house. Nope nope, this was all one big illusion his mind dreamed while sleeping. He must be sleep deprieve. Yeah that was it. He wasn't getting enough sleep so his mind was beginning to imagine things.

After all, whoever heard of paints coming alive and turning into these super cute girls.

Mitsu just managed to get into bed before Sun came bouncing into the room. She tackled Mitsu in the bed. "YAY! SLEEPOVER!!!"

She bumped Mitsu off the bed and he fell to the ground with a thud. He glared at the poor girl, yanking back his blanket. Fine, she could have the bed, that still didn't change the fact that he was going back to bed and that this illusion would be gone after he woke up again.

------------

Needless to say two hours later, it didn't work. Mitsu opened his eyes to find the same girls, in almost the same positions as last time he woke up. He groaned to himself. This was not happening was it?

"Hey sleepyhead!!" Sun greeted him cheerfully.

A pillow flew at his head. "Hey! Watch it!" Mitsu snapped back.

Ruby glared at him. "Go back to bed. You're ruining the scenary of the room with your face."

Azure began to sniffle in the corner. "Ruby is being mean again," she wailed.

Sun meanwhile got pushed aside by Emerald and Orange didn't look like she was back yet. Mitsu pinched himself. "Ow!" Okay... so this wasn't a dream and it was a fantasy.

Something snapped in the background. WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING TO HIM?!!?

Aliena 10-02-2007 03:46 AM

Orange was jogging around the block. She had already made three rounds and was going for her forth. She just couldn't sit still - she was so full of energy and needing to burn it. So she kept running.

Halfway through her fourth lap, she stopped and leaned against a tree, breathing heavily. She sat down for a few minutes and just looked up at the sky, happy to be in the form she was in. It was so amazing to be able to run around and breath the air and--

She picked up her hand and noticed something strange. The grass she had been sitting under was no longer green, but rather a weird brownish color. She touched it again and when she pulled her hand back, it took on more of an orange hue. "Uh oh..." she said, touching it again and again until it was as bright as her hair was. "Ruby's gonna kill me!" She stood up and looked down, wincing at the fact that the area on the tree she had been leaning against was bright orange. She looked around to see if anyone noticed, but there was no one around. So she began to run again, intending to return to Mitsu's place.

Only one problem...somewhere along the way, she had not run the block, but had actually turned down a different street. She was now lost and apparently shedding her color, leaving traces of it on everything she touched. She stopped in the middle of the road and put her hands on her hips, looking around, trying to get her bearings, when a car horn blared at her. She turned around and jumped, accidentally placing her hands on the hood of the car that stopped mere inches from her body.

When she pulled her hands back, two orange handprints remained. The guy stopped the car and got out, a look of indignation on his face. "What do you think you're doing? Standing here and then getting paint on my car! Do you know how much this thing costs?" he yelled at her and she cowered.

Seito 10-08-2007 09:23 PM

As it would turn out, the crackle that Mitsu had heard was actually the sound of his TV breaking into million of tiny little pieces and not the crackling sound of his reality breaking. (Mitsu couldn't decide which one he prefered. Reality being turned upside down or his TV being broken).

Apparently, Obsidian tried to jump out the window to kill herself. Rose of course interferred which somehow resulted in his TV going out the window instead. All the while Irovy jsut stood there watching.

"My TV!!" Mitsu wailed.

Azure joined him in the wailing. "His TV!!"

"Will the two of you shut up!" Ruby snapped.

"Yeah stop hogging all the attention!" Emerald joined in.

Viola meanwhile was laying her claim of the bathroom. Instantly, mirrors with purple borders appeared through out the house. She loved looking at herself. No one paid much attention to her though.

"Who are you people and what's going on?" Mitsu wailed. He watched as all the girls seemed to just ignore him and move to claim their own little spots in his house.

Camarel was still glutching his piggy bank and it looked like she was adding even more to her collection of items. Rose and Sun seemed to have double teamed and taken over the kitchen. Ruby got distracted by the shiny knives in the kitchen.

Mitsu wanted to cry. Why him? What was going on?!!!

Aliena 10-10-2007 07:17 PM

As the guy in the car continued to yell at Orange, something strange happened.

"You idiot! Can you do anything besides stand there and stare? Use your words and answer me! And you're paying for a new paintjob!"

Orange shrank away from the guy, unable to understand why he was yelling at her so much. In all her time in Mitsu's possession, she had heard him get frustrated, but never yell like this! It hurt her feelings especially since she didn't know what was going on. All she wanted was to go back to Mitsu's house. She began to cry, only her tears weren't orange at all. They were blue...blue as Azure's hair.

As the blue tears streaked down orange's cheeks, her hair began to streak with blue too and in some places where the blue and orange mixed, it looked almost brown.

The guy stared at her in disbelief. "You're a freak!" he shouted and got back in his car. He was about to drive away, leaving the freaky orange and blue haired girl behind, but he stopped and got back out, an idea forming in his head. His voice softened and he beckoned for the girl. "Hey, look, I'm sorry for getting mad. Don't cry now! OK? Do you need a lift somewhere?"

Orange nodded vigorously.

"OK, get in. I'll help you. Where do you need to go?"

"Mitsu's house," Orange sniffed, wiping the blue tears away, though she still had blue stains on her cheeks.

"Of course," the guy said, smiling at her. He waited for her to get settled in her seat and taught her how to use her seatbelt and then put the car into drive.

Only he had no intention of going to Mitsu's house, whoever Mitsu was. Oh no. This strange orange and blue haired girl who cried blue tears and shed orange paint on whatever she touched would bring in quite a bit of money. He just couldn't decide whether to hand her over to the tabloid reporters, his Uncle's circus act, or someone else! Oh well, he had a bit of time to decide.

"What's your name anyhow?" he asked. "I'm Raster."

Seito 10-23-2007 05:38 AM

in a dark basement surrounded with various computer screens and odd magical artifacts, a man dressed in a black cape crackled insanely. "BWUHAHAHA! AT LAST! The Hues have been unleash and soon all the colors of the world shall be MINES! MINES!"

The Hues. The legends spoke of them. They are the ones that controlled all the color in the world. To gain control of them was a priceless treasure that no one would match. He had spend years trying to find them. People laughed and mocked him, calling him a fool. He would show them! He would show the world!

He glanced at the screen where the Orange Hue and the man were driving in a car. Excellent the first Hue was found! The legend was real! And once he got his hands one Hue, the rest would follow!

He crackled insanely again. "BWUHAHAHA MINES!"

"Joey baby? Are you coming up for dinner?"

The man cringed. "MOM!" he shouted back. "DON'T CALL ME THAT!"

-------

"We have a problem," Sterling said calmly.

"What do you mean?" Rose asked cheerfully.

Sterling held up an orange which was turning a blue color. "Something happened to Orange."

Aliena 10-23-2007 09:46 PM

Raster stared at Orange in amazement. All traces of blue were gone and the girl was speaking animatedly. She had so much energy, just watching her mouth move was making him tired!

"...and so then Ruby lit into Azure and she started bawling. I mean, not little sniffles! Full out BAWLING!" Orange giggled at the memory and picked up the glass of Sunkist Raster had ordered for her at the little cafe.

"So let me get this straight...you have how many sisters?" he asked the girl, who had told him her name was Orange Hughes.

Orange waved her arm and shrugged. "Do I really have to count them? That'd take too long! Anyhow, so Azure is bawling and Viola steps in like she always does and completely takes charge of the situation. She sent Ruby to the corner for anger management and tried to calm Azure down, but you can't really do that...Mmm...this stuff is really good. What did you call it again? Soh-duh?"

"Yeah," Raster nodded as in his mind, he began to wonder just how to get his hands on the other Hughes sisters. "Orange, does Azure have blue hair, by any chance."

"Uh...yeah," she answered, looking at him like he was a total moron. "What other color would it be?"

"And Viola, violet and Ruby, red?"

Orange nodded.

"And you said your last name was Hughes?"

"That's right. Hues."

Raster sat back. "I see."

"So when will we be at Mitsu's house? I don't remember him living so far away?"

"Oh, you actually walked really far," Raster lied. "It could take a little while, but don't worry. You're in good hands." He winked at her and she giggled and lapsed into another story, this time about another of her sisters named Emerald. He watched her in curiosity as she played with her napkin, leaving traces of orange where her fingers touched it.

As they were sitting in the cafe, Raster had his blackberry in his lap and he sent a message to his Uncle, unbeknownst to Orange:

Found something you might be really interested in. Will be at your place in 30 minutes...

---

Not so far away, Joey (though he preferred to be called The Paintmaster) intercepted the message with his hacking skills and grinned. It looked like he had a meeting to interrupt.

"Mom, can I borrow your car tonight?"

"What? It's a schoolnight!"

"Come on, please????"

...

"MOM, PLEEEAASEE?"

*sigh* "I suppose, but don't be out late. And pick me up a gallon of milk while you're out."

Seito 10-26-2007 09:05 AM

Raster's uncle, Mister Lyon Tup, was a man who specialized in the unusual. Loch Ness Monster, sure he believed in that creature. Couldn't wait to get his hands on one too. Big Foot? Hell yeah he went every year into the mountains to search. Vampires? Well he never went anywhere with out a stake.

Raster was sure his uncle would love to add this color changing girl to his collection. Even if his uncle didn't want the girl, he was pretty sure they could both fetch a good price for her for some private collector who DID want a freak like her.

Raster grinned to himself. Oh he would be rich! RICH! And then he'll be able to buy ALL THE CARS IN THE WORLD!!

----------

The Paintmaster strapped on his googles, threw his rainbow colored scarf over his shoulders, jumped into his mothers 2000 Toyota and putt down the street only for the car to stall a foot out of his house.

"Shit!" Joey swore. "Mother forgot to fill up the gas tank!"

"Did I just hear a swear word from you young man?" his mother shouted.

Joey flinched. "NO MOTHER!"

"I better have no have or else you'll be grounded for three months I tell you! You hear me boy!"

"YES MOTHER!" Joey shouted. "Bah, parents," he muttered more softly.

"WHAT WAS THAT?"

"NOTHING MOTHER!" Joey swore under his breath. His mother had far too senstive hearing.

--------

Sterling stared as the orange turned back to it's normal color.

"Look she's fine," Ivory said dryly.

"We have to go rescue her!" Sun shouted!

"Agreed!" Rose joined in.

"Oh shut it you two!" Ruby snapped.

"It's always about Orange," Emerald muttered. She torn up bits of paper which Caramel snatched up greedily.

Mitsu blinked. "What's going on?"
