Phedre's Ark, a new 100 Drabble (5/100 complete)

Phedre's Ark
Not your typical Noah's Ark Drabble
Each idea will be a diffrent animal, though only one of each on the list. Feel free to include multiple animals in your story.

The theme here is to write a drabble about each anamal. There are insects, fish, and brids in the list, I wanted to make sure every animal group was included. They are all real animals, if you don't know what one is look it up on wiki, or on a zoo website.

Thank you to the San Francisco Zoo website for help with a few animals to finish off my list.

I will be trying to do as many as I can, but please feel free to post one if you are inspired. If you want to reserve an animal let me know and i'll put your name down for that drabble. ^_^

please feel free to post your drabble or any comments here, but please respect the writers. It is hard to write some times, and every one deserves a fair chance to have their voice heard.

79 – Llama

We walked though the hills, no one though any thing of leading a pack animal along behind us. For generations our people had tamed the llamas and used them to carry belongings along the rough mountain trails. This was just like every other trip we had ever made. I always felt bad to the creatures, wondering if they were tired or sore form carrying their loads to market. It never made sense to me why they used llamas instead of buying a car…

Then one day, as we were reaching a higher pass, a car came around the bend. It driver honked and yelled for us to move out of his way, yet the elder ignored him until we can to the next rest point. The man shouted at us and sped off as we cleared the road, and as he took a sharp turn his car went off the road.

Needless to say he was happy to have our llamas pull him out of the ditch, though he was not pleased that he had to pay for our services. It just goes to show that some times the older ways are better than the modern.

51 – Spider

As the stars came out on a cold night at the end of October, one little spider started to spin her web. She knew that she was not going to make it though the winter, the cold had already stated coming and most of her prey had died off. But she spun a web, all the same. She wanted to try one more time, hoping that there would be some stupid fly that had missed the news that he was supposed to be dead already.

She spun her threads, weaving patterns that only her tiny eyes could see properly. No one ever bothered a spider while she was spinning her web, no one dared. She was just finishing as the sun came up, the first light of day catching web in its light and turning it into a diamond net.

All of a sudden the web jumped! She looked around hoping to see her breakfast, but instead found a child’s toy.

“Ewww, there’s a spider web over here Mommy, come clean it up.”

As the human mother whipped the silky threads of her son’s toy the little spider started to spin her web again.

Phee, number 58 is beetle, not beatle, unless you're talking the musical group. Anyway, I'll be thinking about joining in, if'n you don't mind.

feel free to join ^_^ and thank you... I'm a big fan of the band, and I'm not very good at spelling (one of the reasons I'm working on a drabble for practice writing) I'll go fix that thanks

I'd like to ask you to reserve butterfly for me, #86 on your list, if you would. And if I end up writing the story of my rabbit, so be it, but I'm not reserving that one.

#33 Otter - A Drabble Poem

Splish Splash, Splash Splish,
The water sings to you.
Splish Splish, Splash Splash
Sleepy little otter.
Splish, Splish,
Jumping though the surf,
Splash, Splash, Splish, Splish
What an exciting day!

See her swimming all day long,
Her silky fur shining wet.
Catching fish,
Digging Clams,
Cracking them with rocks.

Playing games in the surf,
With other, little Otters,
Purring, Singing, Chattering,
A choir in the waves.

Splish Splash, Splash Splish,
The water sings to you.
Splish Splish, Splash Splash
Sleepy little otter.
Splish, Splish,
Jumping though the surf,
Splash, Splash, Splish, Splish
What an exciting day!

Mommy Otter picks you up,
The Sun is going down.
Tummy Full, Tired out,
Curls up on her belly.

Listen to the singing waves,
Rocking you to sleep.
Soon the sun will rise again,
And day will start a new.

Splish Splash, Splash Splish,
The water sings to you.
Splish Splish, Splash Splash
Sleepy little otter.
Splish, Splish,
Jumping though the surf,
Splash, Splash, Splish, Splish
And now it is time to sleep.

#96 Easth Worm
Life as an earthworm is very tricky. You have to stay moist or your skin will crack, you need to watch out for things like birds because they will eat you. You need to be especially careful of humans because they will squish you.

I have always minded my own business, never poking my nose where it dose not belong, but it’s hard to stay below ground when it rains. There was one day; it was raining so hard the soil was starting to wash out. I knew I had to do something or I would get washed away as well.

I moved to the top of the soil, finding my self near a concrete walk way that lead to a human building. The eves of the building would protect the soil on that side of the walkway, so I moved onto the concrete. I started wriggling my way across, using the imperfections of the fake stone to move my body. All of a sudden a human stepped over me… it was so scary; I thought I was going to be squished! Luckily this human had a good heart and decided not to squish me; instead she pushed me with the tip of her shoe into the earth again.

I was back where I started. I tried again and again, but the passing humans kept getting in my way. Finally that girl passed again, and seeing me closer to the other side she pushed me off on the side I was heading towards. That will teach me though, never try to cross a walkway covered in humans, they just don’t care about where a worm is going.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a nice patch of earth to dig into.

Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.

Lilly sniffled as she searched her room. She didn’t know why her brothers were so mean. They had taken her mittens and hidden them on her. When Mama Kitty found out her mittens were missing she gave Lilly such a beating. Now Lilly had to find them, or else Mama would be even angrier with her.

She looked in her brother Sam’s room first, because he was the cleaner of her two brothers. She looked around, sniffing in the closet and under the bed, but she could not find her Mittens.

She checked in Timmy’s room as well, though it was harder to see if any thing was out of place. She checked the closets, under the bed, and under his stack of comic books.

Then as Lilly was about to give up, she saw her mittens out the window. One of those naughty boys had tied them up in the tree. She knew her mother would be angry if she was caught climbing a tree, so she called to her friend the Gardner.

“Oh Mr. Gardner, please come and help. My bothers have tied my mittens up in a tree.”

With a smile on his face, and a ladder from his shed, the Gardner climbed the tree and retrieved the mittens for Lilly, and patted her head sending her back inside.

This time when Mama kitty came to check on her kitten’s mittens, she had no reason to raise a hand to her charming daughter, but seated her in the kitchen with a large slice of mouse and cheese pie for dinner.
