Drabble One: Glazed Over
Theme: Winter
The bitter kisses of the cold creep by your neck, as goose bumps rise on your arms and legs. You cover your feet with an old quilt, trying to hide from it.
Although, the cool air finds it's way through much to your dismay. You throw another blanket on top of, you, temporarily cutting the cold air's passage away.
As soon as you regain warmth, the harsh shrieks of an alarm clock tell you to give up, and submit to it.
You give into winter, but not all willingly, as you wrap the quilt around to you and trudge to your closet, quickly grabbing layers of clothes. You take them back to your bed, and try to slip your pajamas off without leaving yourself exposed, opening another passageway for winter air to use. You dress quickly and briskly, shivering a bit in the process. Finally, you run downstairs and make a hot breakfast, cursing the stove or microwave to cook faster. Then you gain comfort from the hot nourishment, as it melts away your shivering for at least a moment, before you submerge your hands in icy water and wait for it warm to wash the dishes. The hardest part of facing winter has come next when you must embark on a quest to your car or bus top. It's this part when winter has the fullest advantage, you are free to cling onto, as the air makes sure huddle around, showing no mercy.
It glazes you over, and all you can do is take it.
