Ughh, the first person I probably really went ga ga over in a book and still seem to remember is Miach from Star of the Morning (and the rest of the Nine Kingdoms Series by Lynn Kurland). His looks are great, but what really makes me laugh is his dry humor and wit.

Right now, though, I have to say that I have a great admiration for Howard Roark from The Fountainhead. I've always had this thing for redheads, but anyway....I do know some people don't like Roark because of how unemotional he can be, but I love him as a character.

How was it the Emperor's fault??
I either disagree or I don't remember :O
Sorry lol

Sunlit.rains 10-15-2009 05:10 AM

Darkangel: Well.... Spoiler warning for Fushigi Yuugi, highlight to read: Basically the seiryu (i don't know if that's spelled right but *shrug* had his men attack Nakago's village when he's a child. They slaughtered his family and clan but kept him because he was a seiryu warrior. He was taken to the emperor and it's kind of implied that the emperor molested him or he because his sex slave or something as the emperor is shown in the manga saying "Ohh he's as pretty as a girl" and stuff *doesn't remember exact quotes* This is why Nakago has his whole plot to kill the emperor of his country, for revenge, and he succeeds. So he's clearly all twisted and bitter and evil because of that.

code4destruction 10-15-2009 05:34 AM

i just thought of something...besides falling in love with characters from a book, i tend to really care for the authors as well. as if they are the parents of my lover. for example, Neil Gaiman...:drools: I  that man's brain. Not only is Morpheus the smex, but the entire Sandman comics is awesome. so i read more of Neil's books, and you know what? he's one of the few authors I can read without needing "eye candy" in the story to keep me going. I don't think he ever intended to make Dream sexy either >.> ah well, it happened.

Spoiler (highlight to read): Dream's death probably hit me the hardest out of all my favorite characters that died. I did not see it coming and kept thinking that somehow it couldn't be true. I hate Neil...but I love him so! I still cry about Lord Shaper's death ;_;

And yes, Nakago is also the smex. His hair should have been pink >.> lol...joking ;)

Sunlit.rains 10-15-2009 05:46 AM

Destruction: I love Neil Gaiman too! His story telling skills are just.....guh.... I was always a Delirium fan in a purely platonic way. I also enjoyed Desire.

XD Nakago with pink hair.....*lmfao*

Hm? Well, I don't think you could have explained yourself any better? lol
Yeah, it all came back to me when I read that. I am a fan of the emperor but geez.
He was a real douche bag!! :sarcasm:

Sunlit.rains 10-15-2009 11:19 PM

Darkangel: Hmm I wonder if we're thinking of the same emperor? There's more then one. There's Hotohori who is the one of the suzaku country, and there's another one. I'm talking about the other one. Not the pretty one who loves Miaka.

melissyRAWR 10-17-2009 01:05 AM

Well I have fallen in love with Eric the vampire in the Susie Stackhouse series... Oliver from Blue Bloods, and I know there have been a lot more. Like I remember finishing a book, and being so disapointed when I realized he wasn't real... but I have read so many books I can't even remember all of them. I have even falled in love with people I write about >.<

Haha yeah, I think so?
Sometimes mangas get confusing to me. :o
Sorry for the mix-up :|

Sunlit.rains 10-17-2009 03:40 AM

Darkangel: Nah it's ok. The other emperor is all old and evil and ew. I have a weird good memory for details like this.

code4destruction 10-17-2009 07:58 AM

all i know is hotohori was one of my favorites...fushigi yuugi is just one more proof that i tend to never like the main character. also, in the case of nakago, i always like the bad guy above all others. fortunately, one of my favorite good guys was the one with the orange hair and flame harisan...crap...what's his name? I haven't read it in forever ;_; i have the anime too at home and haven't watched it. Oh! I just remembered another anime with a smexy guy. Kei-ki from 12 kingdoms. i love his name because it sounds like cake ^_^! I also tend to have a fondness for guys with dark skin and white hair: Scar (FMA--which was great because he was bad, but not so bad...), Chaos (Xenosaga 2--in the first he just a kid...but Albedo is so freakin crazycool), Tsume (Wolf's Rain--ehem, woots for Lord Darcia!), and Gyousou Saku (12 Kingdoms--he's the emperor of Tai) are a few that come to mind ^_^

Krendanya 10-17-2009 02:13 PM

I fell for the guy from Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody series. His name is Ashe, he is just one of those guys you want to read about, i think i would actually count the chapters i had left til i could read him again. Lol

The orange haired guy is Tasuki. ^^ He's totally awesome too. I like Scar too but >.> that Roy Mustang....*fans self* I love his smirking face as he torments Ed and how he plans to make all the women wear mini skirt when he's fuerer (spelling?)

Thanks. I liked my description too. XD Let's see, I really love Saiyuki, Fruits Basket, pretty much everything I've read by Clamp (Chobits, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Wish, etc....) or Kaori Yuki (who did Angel Sanctuary, Godchild/Cain Saga, and Fairy Cubed), Bleach, D.Gray Man, Naruto (well at least most of it, I'm kind of bored with it at the moment :( too many fights, not enough character development), and Fullmetal Alchemist. ._. I think that's the majority of the ones I like. I've read more but those would be the top ones I'd say.

Linnea 10-18-2009 05:45 AM

for a lot of the manga characters i have to agree with code4destruction and Sunlit.rains about the red heads lol ... Renji, Reno and Gojyo in particular... oh and i love the pics you 2 posted!
but the occasional black/dark haired character too... Roy Mustang, Byakuya, Kaien Shiba... *sigh*
oh and i really like Kouichi from 'Cat Street'... has anyone read it?

anyhoo... it's love! love i say, and i'm not ashamed to admit it!
and i think the authors/artists of mangas might be flattered that so many people love the characters they created... at least i would be...

EDIT: i should also mention Jushiro Ukitake and Ashido... sadly you don't see much of him :( ... bleach is chock full of great characters!

Sunlit.rains 10-18-2009 05:51 AM

Linnea: Gojyo is one of my earlier book/manga crushes and I've only grown to adore him more and more with each manga. <3 I love his one liners. Speaking of red heads. Two more I'm a fan of are Ravi (or Lavi or whatever the official translation is) and Marian Cross from D.Gray Man are two more wonderful tasty red heads. Also Axel from Kingdom hearts of course. Roy Mustang is wonderful too. I like Byakuya but usually in the "I'm with Renji" context. I have not read Cat Street but I think I've heard of it.

Linnea 10-18-2009 06:49 AM

i have yet to read D.Gray Man, although i've heard good things...
'Cat Street' was done by Yoko Kamio (it's also a drama, but definitely not as good as the manga)... she also did 'Hana Yori Dango'...

Sunlit.rains 10-18-2009 06:51 AM

Linnea: I'll add it to my list of things to poke at and see if I like, thanks. ^^

VampiressMistress1234 10-18-2009 03:43 PM

for me it would have to be edward and jacob from twilight

Angel of Destruction 10-18-2009 09:26 PM

i haven't fallen in love with a character from a book, but a real person, he is a singer (he used to be in the Moldovian boy band called O-zone) and his name is Radu Sirbu....except he is 30 and i am 13...plus he has a wife (i cried when i found that out... i am so weird) but for a book character, its Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series.

Austera 10-19-2009 12:27 AM

I wouldn't say I fell in love with him, but I did have a crush on Leonardo from Memoirs of a militia sergeant
He's supposed to be a lazy guy that's not in the least interested in working, but since he has charisma he manages to live off of people's favors :o Hardly a prince charming, but damn he was charming anyway ;)

As for other fictional characters, I did have a thing for Cube, the butler from the Princess Maker series... but apparently most girls playing that game do, too. I don't really understand why we love him so, though!

Wow!
You are definitely a manga queen in my book .
I actually haven't read any of those except Bleach (and "Angel Sanctuary" sounds awesome!) and it was only the first volume I think. I have read more of the fantasy/teen/romance ones. ;) I think those are a bit out of my age, but who cares, I like them :P Fruits Basket, I see EVERYWHERE!. I haven't actually gotten around to read it yet, but it's on my "To Read" list.

Atusile 10-19-2009 08:31 PM

Yes! xD Everyone from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Almost literally every character from those books. Actually, pretty often I fall for at least one character per series I read. [More often in games.] If manga is applicable... maybe Suzu of Peacemaker. I adore that boy. Terrible things happen though.

From the above quote, Kaori Yuki is practically a goddess. In comparison with the others of that status maybe only just below that. She was my favorite artist/author a few years back. Possibly Prince Lui of her Ludwig Kakumei series. Although I found Wilheim endearing. Goodness this is tough to think of. xD

If I slash them, I sometimes like them...but that doesn't help narrow the list.

Gah, it's hard to think of people when asked, but ask any of my friends. I tend to rant on my favs.

Sunlit.rains 10-19-2009 11:09 PM

Darkangel: I've been reading it for about 7....8 years now  so that's probably how I managed to read so many series. Angel Sanctuary is one of my all time favorites. I love so many characters from that. Plus I love the over all story. I don't care so much for the two main characters actually....but I love all the rest. I'm like that way with Harry Potter too though so who knows. Oh my goodness I think you'd love fruits basket. It's set in our world but it's about this family who turn into a animal from the zodiac when they hug the opposite sex. The main character is so precious I just want to hug her forever and ever.

Atusile: I like most of the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles characters up through the last few books. But I only really love Lestat and marius. I agree on the Kaori Yuki = Goddess thing. She's the only mangaka to make me cry. I love Jizabel from her Cain Saga/Godchild series. I just want to give him a biiiig huuuuge hug. I like Cain too but not quite as much. Also from Angel Sanctuary I adore Kato, Raphael, Kira, Lucifer, and Michael.

Aha! I see. I am going to look up Angel Sanctuary just because you say it's good. I was never really into Harry Potter. I thought the first movie was ok, but I don't really like it anymore :P.
Haha! Maybe I will like Fruits Basket. It sounds a bit confusing, but if I got through Fushigi Yugi, I'll be fine ;)
