I remember that book. There was a few copies at my old Elementary school library, and our librarian would read it to us every year. >.>

I didn't love reading that much until I got to the end of elementary school. ;D
There was just too much writing and reading we have to do so I ended up reading a lot.
But even younger than that, around the start of elementary? I read Dear Dumb Diary. :D
It's so cute, about how a girl having stress over her school, and everything was just really dramatic. LOL

Edit: Oh yes! The giving tree was awesome! :D
My sister used to read it to me when I was.. really young. And sometimes I read it in the library one I see it.
It's just so heart-warming. <3
I used to feel VERY sorry for the tree. ): And how I would love a tree if it gives me apples. LOL

I'd have to say Love You Forever by Robert Munch... That book get's to be everytime...
I know I'm a suck.
My mom used to read it to me all the time when I was little.

I also love this book called Something From Nothing... I can't remember who the other is though.
Since the first time it was read to me when I was little I fell in love with it, not sure why.
But, I still love it to this day.

Favorite book when I was little...? Humm...
Possibly the one about the rabbit with the Golden Shoes. Or The Hungry Caterpillar.
I also wound up rather attached to a Bambi pop-up book, since it was the first book I read when I learned to read, also the book I was taught to read with.

Oh, my favorite little children book is probably, "The little House" or something like that... I mostly looked at the pictures when I was little. ^^'

Ah, I felt so sad for that house. I almost cried. Children books can sometimes make you sob and sob...

"Martha Speaks" and "Martha Speaks Again." It was about how a family dog ate some alphabet soup and instead of it going down to her stomach, it went up to her brain and she began to speak. It just made me laugh.

"Are You My Mother?" from the Dr. Suess collection just adorable. It was the first book I truly remember ever reading.

"Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse" is also very cute and has amazing images. I also adapted it for my junior year Children's Adaption play for my Repeatory Theatre class.

Oh wow, I have to think about that one.
Hm...I think one of my favorites from when I was just beginning to read was one about this dog and its adventures. Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called but I do believe I still have the books on my bookshelf so maybe later I'll go check to see what it was :)

Haha I had this book called The Ghost Dinner and it was so cute. It was all these ghosts that had dinner together and when they ate something they would turn that color. Like when they ate salmon, they turned a salmon color. And when they ate swiss cheese, they turned yellow with holes in them. And to turn white again, they drank milk. :)

Also in elementary school, I loved Cam Jansen books. I don't remember anything about them except that the Cam had a photographic memory. XD

Both by the same author. Coincidence? Who knows?
I read both of those. I lost A Little Princess, but I've read The Secret Garden a lot. I love both books today.

@lark_31: I never read the book, but it's a TV show now on PBS.

Another goodie: Anne of Green Gables. I shall always love that book and Anne's crazy mistakes.

I remember reading Avi's "Nothing But the Truth" back in fourth grade. Holy crap, that was an amazing book. I still have it somewhere, I think I'll go read it again just for nostalgia. I also loved the Goosebumps series. And the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark series. Stuff was so cash. I'm going to go read some of them again while I'm waiting for L4D to install.

My favorite childhood books were the Secret of Nimh, and Watership Down. What can I say, I'm a sucker for cute animals put in a more serious context.

I also enjoyed all sorts of horror anthologies made for kids/teens, and Bunnicula.

I LOVED the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books and Chix Soup as well. Other favorites were the Little House on the Prairie series and then later The Crystal Singer (it was my first sci-fi book).

Holey, did you read the rest of the trilogy?
I started it with the second book, that one being the only one I could find in the library.

I liked a wide-range of books when I was younger... from those really preschool books to classics.

-The Boxcar Children
-The Lord of the Rings
-His Dark Materials
-Amelia Bedelia
-Animorphs
-Captian Underpants
-My Little Pony

To name a few... even today I can flip flop between different kinds of books. Right now I'm reading a book more appropriate for my age. It's called Amy Girl by Bari Wood. I'm really enjoying it and the style it's written in!

I loved this book called The Cat Who Went to Heaven. My dad read it to me, and then when i could read, i read it like 3 times. I finally lost the book and that's what stopped me reading it so much.

it was a short novel, like less than 100 pages, and it had a really good story, but i don't actually remember all of the plot.

'Are you my mother?' was a book my mother and I use to read all the time when I was just a tiny little thing with fat cheeks. I know I have read more in between the times of her giving me bed time stories and elementary school, but I really cant think of any other that per say. When I was in second grade it was all about those Box Cart Children, I tell you what...it made running away look nice...until I got hungry. Lol
