I never read the ending first, I hate having it spoiled for me. I tend to get into a series more if the twists and turns of it are a complete mystery.

Darkness_Embraced 08-12-2009 05:08 AM

Sometimes i read the last few pages first, But i usually read it from the begging...but if im not sure if ill like it or not, ill skim through it.

Aura_Hatake 08-12-2009 10:07 PM

I can't see myself ever trying to read the ending of a book first. Personally I don't think an entire book can be judged on the ending. Also by reading the end of a book first it takes away from the excitement/thrill and suspense of what happens next. Also a books ending may seem like a bad ending if you haven't read the entire book because you don't know the whole story. The ending may seem like a bad one but there could be a reason for it ending the way it did, that's why I believe in reading the entire book first, I wouldn't enjoy reading as much as I do if I read the end of every book and judged it just on that.

no i look on romance lovers web site they rate all kind of books. I hate to find out how a book ends .

LittleFox 08-14-2009 12:06 AM

That would spoil the book for me, but my dad did that with the last harry potter book and ended up really confused.

zosma 08-16-2009 01:19 AM

I usually don't but if its a book that is boring me and I know once i set it down ill never touch again, ill look at the end so i know how it well ends. Sometimes, that convinces me to keep reading though :B

Amiiu 08-16-2009 01:53 AM

Sometimes I do end up reading the end before I finish but not before I read at least a chapter or two. Sometimes I just get curious as to what will happen in the end : P Or if I don't want too much of a spoiler I'd read a page of the last chapter so I'd be a little confused but I sort of have a sense of what will happen.

MeiJing 08-16-2009 06:33 AM

I try not to read the end of the book before i read it. I usually just check to see how long the book is XD. the longer the book the better!

Duttel 08-16-2009 03:07 PM

I read the ending first if the ending is good I buy the book XD it is one of my weird habits .

Lady Star 08-17-2009 04:17 AM

I tend to read the last paragraph of the book xD And If I'm lost I read 1-2 pages back lol

ainebella 08-17-2009 04:53 AM

I some times read the last paragraph of the book.... or i skip all the boring stuff and read the interesting stuff some days (like in new moon....)

Novariko 08-17-2009 04:56 AM

I usually read the last sentence of a book.
I don't like to read the actual last chapter or page just in case there is a huge spoiler or something, I don't want to ruin it for myself :)

citron 08-17-2009 09:16 PM

Before I start on a book, I always have to read the first and last sentence. It's weird habit I have.

Belle Sorciere 09-25-2009 01:03 AM

No, I don't read some of the end of the book first. That ruins the whole book, and the story itself, because then you know what is going to happen. That ruins the whole thing.

coolazity1 09-28-2009 01:06 AM

I've never looked at the ending before reading a book, but I have put books down in the middle of reading them that were going to have a bad ending, though I usually eventually finish them. The only time I've known the ending of a book before reading it is when it's a book my best friend and I are both reading and she finishes before I do, and she accidentally spoils something from the ending as she was ranting about the book.

Erailea 09-28-2009 01:24 AM

nope I never have and never will. As tempting as it is I have the attention span of a gnat when I read. If I know how it ends I'm not going to want to sit down and read the book. Same goes for films made from books, I have to read the book before I see the film or I can't read it (unless it's completely different). Know the plot keeps me from wanting to sit and read it

Houshi Miroku 09-28-2009 03:12 AM

No way! That's no fun at all. Why read it after that point? :(

ColdRose 09-28-2009 05:19 AM

When I find books to read I read the back cover of the books, but I never read the ending before reading a book. I would never do that. That would give the whole book away, and I feel that if I were to read the end of the book first there would be no point in reading the rest of the book.

ElysiumFate 09-29-2009 01:51 AM

It depends upon the length of the book for me. If it's a thousand page book, yes. I almost always read the ending of these books first. It is just not worth it to me to spend two weeks of my life reading a book without knowing that it will turn out okay. I hate doing that much reading/work without being able to expect a satisfying end. Books shouldn't be disappointing. They are what we use to escape reality.

Knightess 09-29-2009 02:54 AM

When I have to read a book for school or something I will read the last paragraph hoping that, if the book is boring, it will entice me into reading it and making it more enjoyable. Usually it doesn't work...

Ryohko 10-02-2009 05:10 PM

I used to look at the last pages all the time. Nowadays, I try my best to avoid that because I don't want to be spoiled though my curiosity gets the best of me, and I end up reading it anyways. ;_;

@Knightess, I do the same thing with my school text books. Usually the last few paragraphs gives a good enough summary to the point, where I don't have to read the whole chapter. xD

Stitches 10-03-2009 01:43 AM

I totally do that too.

My friends hate it, but i always skip ahead to the last few pages of any book just to see how it ends.

Drives everyone crazy, but i simply can't help myself!

Demonic Jo 10-03-2009 02:48 AM

Once and a while I go back there and I'm all confused about what it means because it's usually before I even begin the story. By the time I get into the book I'll forget about the ending anyway.

Scarlett Deny 10-03-2009 04:34 AM

I almost always read the ending of the book first..ish. I don't tend to read it to see what the book is like per se, however, once into the story I tend to get a bit 'Oh my god.. What's going to happen?!' and impatience mixed with excitement causes me to turn to the last couple of pages. It's a terrible habit, the surprise in the end would be better.. But I almost always end up reading some of the end of the book before I'm meant to.

MitsukiSenpai 10-06-2009 06:47 AM

Depends on the book. For example, the Da Vinci Code I didn't read the ending while Twilight I did. I usually decided whether or not to read the ending by the end of the first chapter (if they are short chapters, then I wait until maybe 50 pages or so into the book). I actually found this to entice me to read more of the book in 90% of the cases, although Catcher in the Rye was so bad that reading the end could even save it for me.
