Normally, I read while laying down in bed, or in the bathtub, though I hate both of those places because it's so hard to hold the book open.

I'm probably kinda weird, but I like reading while sitting at a desk. Like at school, that's the easiest place for me to read or do my work. There's no where really comfortable to do it at home.

I prefer to read in silence with no one around to bother me (hence the reading in bed and in the tub). Music distracts me. I'm more of a singer than a reader. But I'll listen to classical when I read.

I like to keep a bottle of water with me.

I LOVE to read in my room, with the door closed and sitting on my bed reading a book I love with no distractions. SILENCE while read is GOLDEN!!!

While reading my books it depends..

Most of the time I lay down to read but sometimes I will read sitting up. I will have a specific drink or I won't, most of the time I like to read by myself and I don't like distraction while reading......

Lying down, but it gets uncomfortable sometimes. I will devour books in a few days if they're really good.

I like to curl up with a fuzzy blanket right before bed. a little it of noise doesn't bother me but is always better without. Also good in the tub too. ;]

Must admit that I have never been able to read while laying down, I have to be sitting up. Just uncomfortable. Silence or listening to music that goes with the book is always a plus - or even incoherent sound filtering in in the background as if in a cafeteria is fine as well. If the sound is recognizable, it is, for the most part, a distraction. Reading while ignoring your professor does not count in this respect to me. XD

And a cup of tea near by is lovely to have.

I like to read on my bed sometimes as that's the only place i can really get comfortable especially at school. At home I like to read in my dad's recliner with my dog on my lap. I have a light right next to me when I sit there and I like to read with a cup of tea available. If it's an audiobook I usually just sit/lie on my bed with the lights out (helps me concentrate)

It depends. But I'm most comfortable reading when seated. xD Lying down is pretty comfortable sometimes, but it makes my arms ache.

I can read a book almost anywhere. But lately I've been having difficulties reading in public places, I just cant tune out people anymore. So now I read in silence at home or a library. Usually sitting up or lying down, depending on where I am, and usually with something to drink, like juice or soda. c:

I really don't like audiobooks. If i'm listening to a book it has to be in the dark otherwise I get really distracted.

When I was a kid I could read anywhere, in cars, while walking(!), sitting, lying down, standing up etc.
hehe not anymore though, now I prefer sitting or lying down. :O)

I like to read with the tv or something on quietly in the background.. and i usually fill up the giant mug i have with a coke or something with caffeine to keep me awake!! Once i get into a book it is very very hard for me to put it down and i usually end up losing sleep because of it!! haha!! and if i am not in my big oversized chair i like to read in bed.. someplace where i can get really really comfy!!!

In a hot bath full of bubbles with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Mmm. n__n I've made all my books swell up with water that way, though. xD

I like reading outside at the garden, or inside the library. Two very different conditions :P

When I read, I tend to switch where I am a lot. I go from one end of the house to another. I find that the most comfortable place to read is under a table, lying on my back. I don't know why, but I find it oddly comfortable to read in small, enclosed spaces.

Hm... I can read just about anywhere, but I suppose I prefer quiet or very low background noise, like a TV with just a little sound turned up. The perfect place for this is in my room, propped up against my headboard, window blinds pulled up to let in all the sunshine they can.

But I also enjoy reading outside on swing chairs and on comfy couches, I love feeling warm and cozy when I read.

I like .. wow, well, actually a lot of other posters answers I have to agree with. I guess for what mood I'm in or what to have while reading, is .. is how I read.

When I'm hungry for books, like I've been starving all my life and just can't stop now no matter how much I want to, I'll end up laying in some awkward position with my arm or side hurting because the way I'm laying down. I rarely sit up to read, I guess I just can't focus enough that way.

I usually lie down, and it's usually on my bed because I guess that's the most comfortable place I can imagine being. I don't like to see lights when I'm reading, I don't know how to explain it.. I don't mind the glow from the lamp, but I don't want to see the actual light bulb while I'm trying to read - it distracts me.

Um, if I bring food or drinks out, I rarely have at them while reading, I usually just get too absorbed. I kind of like reading at our library, it's real nice and peaceful there usually.

I .. also tend to read in the bathroom too. Atleast until my legs fall asleep and I have to leave.

Depends on the situation. If it's for school I listen to it on audio book and knit at the same time. It's a little slower, but I can do something else that I want to do at the same time and still get the "reading" done.

As for the rest of the time, it doesn't matter. I don't usually eat or drink when I'm reading though. I don't like getting food in my books. XD

It depends for me. Usually I'll read while on the bus going to and coming home from work. Just because it's something to do on the way there as it's quite a distance. Then I don't want to put it away when my stop comes...:P
Other days if I'm craving some reading, I'll be half laying down either on my bed or on a couch. Other times I'll be on my stomach on either of those.

This is an interesting topic. I like to read in a comfy reclining chair, reclined about 2/3-3/4 of the way back. Sometimes I like coffee or hot tea while I am reading. (I used to not like hot tea... until I found Lipton's Peach Mangosteen tea, and now I crave hot tea! Yum!)

If I'm reading non-fiction, I tend to sit more upright (although still usually in a comfy chair) and will often have a pen and/or highlighter in my hand or beside me so I can write notes about what I'm reading.

If I'm reading for research, I generally like to be sitting at a table so I can spread out my notebook, book, and writing/highlighting implements. Sitting at a table helps me focus more, I guess because I've trained myself that tables are for studying.

I can't read with a lot of noise, especially music (except maybe classical turned way low). It's too distracting. And it drives me nuts when someone tries to talk to me while I'm reading.

Oh, and occasionally I'll eat Pocky while reading. :)

I have a habit of switching around alot. I can never stay still for more then one chapter. I hate having noise around me unless it's the rain or something. I also hate reading in the daylight for some reason.
