I love Vampire books, and my favorite has to be The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. I think it was written amazingly well and i loved all of the books.
So, what are your opinions on the books if you've read them?

I loved them myself. I think her crowning achievement was Queen of the Damned. After that, the Tales of the New Vampires were all very good as well. Blood and Gold really captured me but then again Marius was always my favorite. I did not like Memnoch the Devil very well, it kind of droned on and on while telling Memnoch's tale before finally getting to the plot at the very end of the book. Blackwood Farm was also really good (except for Mona, I never could stand that character). I felt that Blood Canticle was a little lackluster considering it was her last book - everything seemed a little rushed about it in comparison to her earlier works in the series.

I read them all, its been awhile but I enjoyed the original 3 and after things started getting a bit wierd I think Blood and Gold , The Vampire Armand and Merrick were my latter favorites. I've always liked Armand and being a bit of a yaoi fan it kinda fits. Reminds me I need to go reread the series again.

I could never get into Merrick myself, nor Armand, despite how pretty he is! But I have to ask, what exactly do you mean by things getting weird? Isn't that redundant in these books?

I meant after the whole Memnoch thing her writing started taking some odd turns. Enough that my mothers co-workers thought she was crazy for allowing me to read the series. But yeah the entir thing gets wierd after awhile. I only got into Merrick because I was and still continue to be a fan of Louis and he plays a big part in that book. I think I like just about all the main vampires in the books, well except Lestat's mother gets on my nerves.

They honestly are my favorite vampire books. I really liked The Vampire Armand. Though honestly, I loved them all. I re-read them that's how much I like them.
A marvelous way with words Anne Rice has.

Yeah, her writing style pushed me to develop a sytle of my own and I've found I still sometimes tend to revert back to being as wordy about things as reading her books trained me into being.

I remember now I memorized one of Lestats monologues for a theater class.

I love the Chronicals. My favorites are the ones where Lestat is the main character. "The Vampire Lestat", "Queen of the Damned", "Tale of the Body Thief" and "Memnoch the Devil" are my favorites.

I really enjoyed Memnoch's story. It really made me think of all the possibilities if there really is a God or not, and what it really thinks of humanity.

"Pandora" and "Blood and Gold" are my other favorites. I've always felt a kind of kinship to Pandora. The poor sweetheart.

Anne Rice is my favorite author. I really loved reading Queen of the Damned, The Vampire Lestat, Blood and Gold, and The Vampire Armand. Marius and Lestat are my favorite characters.

@Rowan: I really hate Mona, she is so selfish and whiny, I wonder what Quinn saw in her. I didn't really like Blood Canticle, it's quite mediocre compared to all of her previous books .

I'm only half way through 'The vampire Lestat' but i'm throughly enjoying it. I'm beginning too miss Louis though, he slowly started ticking me off in 'Interview with the vampire' what with all his moaning but i do miss his angst... and his arguments with Lestat because they were always a laugh.

Ooh, I'm re-reading The Vampire Lestat right now. I really love it actually because it really shows his transition from his mortal life to how he becomes in Interview with the Vampire. I've read those too, Memnoch the Devil, Queen of the Damned, and I think that's it so far... For some reason the libraries where I live never have the others! I suppose I should just buy them since I own the others... xD;

Anyway... at first I really disliked Gabrielle because she was so cold, but then I started feeling kind of bad for her because she was so trapped in her mortal life from doing what she wanted... But at the same time, she wasn't a very nice mother. >_<

And I'm not sure I wanna read the Mayfair crossover book... I have a feeling I will want to kick Mona in the face. I hate books where one of the main characters is annoying or whiny. xD;

But I agree... I really love the way Anne writes. It changes depends on who is narrating too which I think is really talented. It really seems like each characer is "real" because of their different "voices". I think I love The Vampire Lestat best because he has such a flowery way of speaking and such deep thoughts. I like him best in that book too, before he went totally over the edge but also before he went more... uhmm... religious, I guess the word. But I guess he's really a reflection of Anne in some ways. ^^; I read her Christ Out of Egypt (I think that's what it was called) and it was very good actually even though I don't know much about religion except what I learned in art class. But she's such a good writer and her ideas were very interesting and unique. I don't think you have to be religious or Christian to like it even.

Edit: OH! I forgot I also read another book she wrote set in New Orleans but I can't remember what its called. >_>

I enjoy them immensely!! Anne Rice, to me, is a muc better writer than Stephanie Meyer. Hate me if you will, but that is what I think. MY favourite would have to be Interview with a Vampire, and I enjoyed the film very much despite not being a fan of either Tom or Brad. I also enjoyed Tale of the Body Thief. After that book, for me, it got a little confusing because she them mixes in characters and events from The Mayfair Witches and you are placed in the middle of events from said series. Despite Queen of the Damned being a terrible film, I enjoyed it simply because Paul McGann played David Talbot, and I loved Mr McGann's acting as the Eight Doctor in Doctor Who and "I" from Withnail and I. I like the character being a little younger than the book states he is.

I have them all!!!! Thought interview of the vampire was quiet boring to me, but I fell in love with The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Vampire Armand and Blood and Gold.

I'm so glad there's a thread for this! It seems like since Twilight came out all the vampire lovers are only talking about that series. When I'm sorry, The Chronicles are MUCH better. The first one I actually read was Armand and I fell in love. I used to reread them all every summer but lately I just don't have the time. I'm also so depressed that Anne Rice isn't writing the vampire books anymore. I guess I understand her reasoning. She once said Lestat was sort of charactered after her husband and since he's passed away, I suppose I wouldn't want to write them anymore either. But either way, I'm a huge fan of the books!

I've read/own up to Memnoch the Devil. I absolutely love The Vampire Lestat and The Queen of the Damned, but I loathe Interview with the Vampire. Louis is soooo whiny~
