So, has anyone read these books? I find a lot of them once you read the first few start sounding really similar but I still enjoy them. I haven't read them all yet but I'm working on them at least. I loved the Vampire Hunter D movies growing up so when I saw there were novels in the book store a few years back I was thrilled to read them. Of course, I found of the two books that were made into movies [1st and 3rd] there were a lot of differences. I know that movies never translate from books but I think it made me expect more from the movies since they were supposed to be 'the same'
Oh well, has anyone read any of these books? I forget how many there are at this point but there's a fair number of them...

Ah, I've read the first one, and maybe part of the second. I loved the first one very much, but for some reason the second one kind of turned me off from it. I honestly don't know why for sure, I just remember feeling irritable from trying to read it. xD

I keep meaning to read the book, but never had. I really wanted to after I met Yoshitaka Amano who did the artwork. Oh my god, it was amazing meeting him. He came to my school and his translator spoke to us about him and his work (Mr. Amano doesn't really know any English. haha ) He gave us a demo on his drawings and then gave everyone who attended the talk an autographed sketch that he did right there in front of you. I still have it safe and sound. One of these days I'll get it matted and/or framed XD

So the first movie coincides with the first book and the second movie coincides with the 3rd book? Would you say they are worth reading?

I personally haven't read them, I keep meaning to (refer to my 1st post in here for why), but my sister has read the first and said she liked them.

Maybe I will have to give them a whirl after I get through this really busy semester.

Didn't finish the book 1 just yet~ I will when I have more time.

So far, the difference from the movie and book are so apparent however I love them all the same.

I treat them as two different worlds. xD That way I don't become a canon nazi of sorts.

I appreciate both for their own merits you see. o.O

Treating the movies and books as two different worlds is how you have to appreciate them, otherwise you will be constantly making comparisons and there is none, the book will almost always be better.

Hmm, there's a movie? I gotta find some time to watch it Xd

Well I read the novel - pretty good :) I got a friend that really likes it although she doesn't like the drawings much XP she says it looked too rough :P well, I really think that some rough drawings really make the story flow, like the Blade of Immortal's author's work (hah hah, that was long XD)

I haven't read the novels yet...my sister has them all and she hasn't finished reading book 1. I learned that these novels came out before the movie was ever produced.
