I hate my public library, right now. It's filled with cheesy romance novels, stories that are too stupid to be literature, and they forget the classics. I only went over there to search for Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire. Right? Right. Well, do you know what I found instead? Twilight. It was the ONLY vampire book they had.

Twilight is not literature. I don't care what you say; it was a stupid thing to write about, and it makes no sense.

First of all, vampires do not sparkle in the sunlight. It burns them, turns them to dust, ashes; it KILLS them. At least mortally wounds them.

Secondly, werewolves started out in Europe. They weren't Native Americans. Another stupid portion of the book.

Then, there's the fact that the werewolf and vampire fall in love with the stupid girl who can't keep herself out of danger. How predictable.

And even worse STILL! The vampire and human PROCREATE. First off, I don't want to know how they even did this; secondly, they are two different races; they shouldn't be able to interbreed. It would be like having sex with a bat and giving birth to little bat-babies. Does that makes sense? No. Is it physically possible? No. Besides, I believe that if vampires or werewolves and humans created children in that way, the human (mother or father) would be used as their first meal. That would make everything much better. But, from my understanding, that doesn't happen. Of course, it's because of one huge fact.

BELLA IS A FREAKIN' MARY SUE. I see no point in her, nor in those books.

Lastly, I would like to say that they should have REAL vampire books in my public library, and include Shakespeare, too! Our library is a sell-out, and I'll just have to buy all of my books from Barnes and Noble, now.

Since you guys have continued to discuss Twilight instead of public libraries, I have merged your posts into our original Twilight thread. Please continue your vampire-related conversation there.

Libraries are ok but it's not convienant to go there all the time. My local library is small so I've been going to the one that is further away in a bigger city with all of shopping. Also because they have anime and manga available. But I don't like the set up they have. The way they have their counters makes the front room look and feel crowded and dark. The computer room is small and there is never one available to use when I am there. Plus the mangas are all in the teen room so it's kind of embarresing to go up there. But luckily I do look alot younger than my actual age. So maybe people think that too.

Ok, I understand that you are upset that your library stopped carrying classics. I've been through that, one of my libraries didn't have any classic on my list that I want to read. The librarian was even embarrassed that they didn't have them.

To your problems with Twilight: ok...so you don't like it. You are entitled to your opinion, that is fine and you seem to know enough about the series to not be considered ignorant. I am not about to disagree that a lot of people do not enjoy Twilight.

I do however disagree with some of your bashing of the novels. Some of your logic is faulty.

To the first point, and the issue with procreation I have one thing to say. Willful suspension of disbelief. This is a fictional book. This means that the things that happen in said book do not have to make sense in real life. They also do not have to make sense with any other fictional realm. There does not have to be a crossover between fictional realms.

To the points about cheesy romance and the way she wrote the book and even the fact that Bella is a Mary Sue (I will agree with you, she is very whiny and clutzy and than turns superhero, that was a bit much). Stephenie Meyer came up with this story and never meant to publish it. One of her friends read it and convinced her to. Therefore, this story was meant for HER enjoyment, and not necessarily anybody else. That means it can be a cheesy romance.

To the werewolf point. I noticed that theWhiteWolf pointed out the fact that they are over-sized wolves. (Thank you for that by the way). If you actually read the final book, it says that they are in fact not werewolves:

"The Children of the Moon have been our bitter enemies from the dawn of time. We have hunted them to near extinction in Europe and Asia..."

"Caius, it's the middle of the day," Edward pointed out. He gestured to Jacob."These are not Children of the Moon, clearly. They bear no relation to your enemies on the other side of the world."...
"They aren't even werewolves. Aro can tell you all about it if you don't believe me."...

"Though the creatures think of themselves as werewolves, they are not. The more accurate name for them would be shape-shifters. The choice of a wolf form was purely chance....These creatures truly have nothing to do with the Children of the Moon. They have merely inherited this skill from their fathers. It's genetic--they do not continue their species by infecting others the way true werewolves do."

---Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn. Page 704

In short, you are entitled to your opinion. Just actually get your facts straight on things before you post them.

Was at the llibrary again today. sigh I get annoyed tring to find things like manga and grphic novels because for a lot of the things they don't have the complete series. For instance i've been wanting to read more of Inu- Yasha but for some reason they never have vol 5 or 6 and from the teens on nothing. Which is understandale because it is a very long series. But where did the missing vols go?. As far as comic books go they don't have a lot of the series that I like which I find to be strange because some of them are super popular. Instead they have loads of indi comics which don't get me wrong I am a fan of just most of what they have is to my likeing. I don't know but I think this library is messed up evern there dvd selcetion is missing things. They don't have a lot of newer seasons of tv shows. Which I know might me hard to keep up on. But as far as the anime goes I don't think they have a complere season of anything said for Evangeleo ( I think) and maaayybe Gundam W and that's it everything else are random things or incomplete series. Sigh.. when I start working again I think I'm going to sign up for netflix. I tried some anime clubs but their warehouse bases are too far away that it took four days for a dvd to get to be. Not worth the monthly cost of the club.

The manga that my library has is also in the teenager section. The manga collection that my library has is incomplete. It's like they start with volume one and maybe volume two then they don't get the rest of the series. We also don't have anime in the movie section.
I also found out that librarians don't always know what people want to read. Librarians like hearing feedback from people who used the library. Librarians also have the means to get the books people want to read through interlibrary loan or buying the book for the library. It also depends on the library budget.

Well, this is an awfully thin mask for an OMG I HATE TWILIGHT rant. The antis are even more annoying than the fans these days...

And since when is Anne Rice considered classic? :\ She's honestly not a whole lot better than Meyer, in my opinion.
