I love to read classic science fiction, especially from the pulp fiction era. Something about the plot lines just grab you, and won't let you go until the story is done.
The fact that I love it so much made me wish to ask if there was anyone else out there who liked it as well.
So... anybody else out there like classic science fiction?

I thought HG Wells Time Machine was a good book and A wrinkle in Time was as well. I real twenty thousand leagues under the sea if that would count as well. I'm more into high fantasy adventure thought really.

Just so you know. You can skip most of the first half of Frankenstein and not miss a thing. It's just sort of about his spiral down into madness. And how he gets the idea to make a person out of body parts. Not bad after that though.
I would personally recommend the barsoom series. It is by the same author as Tarzan the ape man.
I love that series!!

Would you consider H.P. Lovecraft a sci-fi writer (at least some of the time)? I know he's most generally considered Horror, but I believe some of his stories could be classified as science fiction (with a large horror element). And he was a contributor to the pulps...

Well, my favorite of all time is Asimov. He has a real gift for writing. Which reminds me that I've been reading more fantasy than sci-fi lately. I should probably read more Heinlen, I liked him.
The 1940's is also referred to as the "Golden Age of Sci-Fi" in case you didn't know.

Well, i'm actually a sci fi geek, that's what you may call it. I think you should read Philip K Dick, he is one of the greatest when it comes to sci fi. I'm not a big Asimov fan, but you should try with the Foundation series. You should also check Stanislav Lem, Solaris is one of the greatest space ambiented books ever writen (Don't judge it by the movie)

Asimov.
I really like Burroughs though. As you could probably tell from my other posts. ...if you read them.
Is Heinlein A modern author, or have I just not heard of him?

He's not modern.. but he isn't very well known either. He wrote the book SpaceTroopers (I think that's what it's called) which was later a movie.

Did you mean StarshipTroopers? That was a movie. Lots of gunfire. Most rounds expended in any movie to date.

Yeah, and looking for the "brain bug" It was pretty good. I thought the main character got killed at one point though. I watched the movie for the first time on tv, and there was a commercial at that exact moment. I was like Who the heck will i watch for the next half hour if the main guy is dead? It threw me. I suppose I should look up some of that guy's books.

He didn't. It just looked that way.
I'll see about his books sometime. You should read some Burroughs. The Barsoom series is currently my favorite.

Yes I changed my hair. I'm trying to make my avi look more like me, but they don't really have any similar hair styles to mine.
Anyway. Edgar Rice Burroughs, was the man who wrote Tarzan The Ape Man. However his first work, was a book called A Princess of Mars. It is amazing, and it is only the first book in a series of about seven, or something. He also wrote a series about Venus, but I haven't finished the one about Mars yet. The series about Mars in commonly referred to as the Barsoom series, because that is the name that Mars's inhabitants use for the planet.
You should try some of his books sometime. You'll probably like them. They are from the pulp fiction era in the early nineteen hundreds. Loads of action.
