I'm looking for reccomendations for getting into the Steampunk Genre of literature.

I do know that a lot of work by Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, and Tim Powers is considered of the Steampunk variety, but which titles? And more author/title recommendations would be appreciated!

Any manga or comic recommendations would be cool, if there are any.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Books: Journey to the Center of the Earth is a good one and Around the World in 80 days, also The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, Tim Powers' The Anubis Gates, Homunculus by James Blaylock, and K.W. Jeter's Morlock Night and Infernal Devices, also The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling; also, Terry Pratchett has elements of magi-steampunk in the background, and 1632 is sort of a reverse/round-about look at a lot of what Steampunk is.

Comic/Movie: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is an excellent example of Steampunk, even if the movie did suck.

Manga/Anime: There's actually a movie called Steamboy; Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Castle also count as Steampunk.

I'd go on, but I suspect this will be more helpful: Aether Emporium / Wiki

You're welcome; I have the same trouble trying to find good military sci-fi I haven't already read, so I understood your frustration.

Military sci-fi? Just HOW sci-fi do you like it? Some of the Aliens and AVP book series could fill the bill.

I just finished Airborne By Kenneth Oppel and it was really really good. It's very Steampunk with its AirShips and it's set in Victorian England, or atleast the Victorian Age. And I think there are two sequels too.

Wish I had something to add. I've been becoming more interested in steampunk lately. I saw a book that sounded good, but I can't remember the name of it. The title had the word 'bridge' in it though.

There's "Clockwork Heart" by Dru Pagliassotti. And I think you could consider Gordon Dahlquist's "The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters" steampunk, too.
