I decided to start this thread to find out if there’s more than just three fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s work. I’ve only read the Dark-Hunter series myself, but I want to read her series B.A.D. and The League. For a break down of Dark Hunters, here’s some information:

About Dark Hunters and Daimons:
Dark-Hunters are fictional immortal warriors in the Dark-Hunter series written by the author Sherrilyn Kenyon. Warriors who sell their souls to the Greek goddess Artemis for a single act of vengeance against those who may have facilitated their death. In return they are bound to protect mankind from the Daimons; vampires who survive by consuming human souls to prolong and elongate their own existence thereby defying Apollo's curse. Daimons are Apollites and the former children of Apollo, cursed by the god Apollo for the murder of his mistress Ryssa (Acheron's sister) and their son Apolydorus. The Apollites cannot go out in the sun or it would be their immediate death, and to survive they must feed off of each other to live, and are destined to die an excruciating death upon their 27th birthday unless they choose to become Daimon.

More in-depth about becoming a Dark Hunter:
Within the Dark-Hunter universe, when a person dies by being betrayed or misled, their soul screams out for vengeance. The strongest and most passionate screams echo throughout the halls of Olympus, to the temple of Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. She then offers them the choice to become Dark-Hunters in return for a single Act of Vengeance. Once the bargain is accepted, the new Dark-Hunter is branded with Artemis's double bow-and-arrow mark.
In exchange for their souls, Artemis allows all new Dark-Hunters twenty-four hours to exact vengeance on those who wronged them during their human life. Most notably the Dark-Hunters usually go after the person(s) who killed them. After the twenty-four-hour period is up, they belong to her, and Acheron leader of the Dark-Hunters gets sent in to train the new dark hunter(s) in their new life and how to use their powers. After the training with Acheron is over, the Dark-Hunters are assigned a location somewhere in the world and spends the rest of eternity fighting with Daimons and other evil.

Artemis pays them well for their services and provides them with human helpers known as Squires.

I just love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s work! It’s the only series I seem to speed through because I truly can’t put one of her books down. I’m always excited when I find out a new book will be coming out and I make sure to have money aside to buy it. I hope to find others who love her work whether it be this series or any of her others.

My favorite characters have to be Ash, Simi, Nim, and Jaden. I mean, doesn't Nim look plain adorable!!:

Does the three include moi? >.>

Yeah, I love Ash and Simi. I fell in love with Kenyon's world of the Dark-Hunters in part because of them. I love all of the characters though. I mean, who couldn't love some of those rebellious jerks? XP

I've read Born in Fire, and I started Born in Night, and so far I've liked it all. BAD is very good too (I personally love the cheesy name for the bureau), and I've also tried the series she's penned under Kinley MacGregor, The Lords of Avalon. Honestly though, I stick more with the Dark-Hunters because she has more of those books out.

^I believe so, haha.

True, true~ it would be fun to know them irl if they were real.
And good to know BAD is good (haha), I'll try and pick one of them up soon. (Though I guess there was no doubt really of it being good or not, I mean.. it's SK we're talking about ^^ Only one book kind of had me going slowly threw it, but I still had it done sooner than most other books.)

Honestly, in real life I would probably be too intimidated by them to say a word. I'm shy around men unless I know them very, very well. XD But I think I could deal with some of them since they don't have humongous chips on their shoulders.

I'd suggest reading the BAD novellas first. I really liked the first BAD novel, but the second one I've yet to finish.

^haha, yep, now I know there's four people ^^
I sadly only got to meet her once at a signing. She really is sweet and tries to make all her fans happy.
(But since you mentioned her, Christine Feehan is awesome too~)

My mother and I just started reading her books.
Every time we would go to the book store we would always stop and look at her books going "hmm these look interesting" but we would never buy them.
But finally when we couldn't find any other books by the authors we know and like we broke down and read the info on them and we were like "We MUST read these"
We have only gotten the first three of the Dark Hunter series but we are looking forward to getting more when we have the money.

If you are into these kind of books I have a few authors I can suggest.
On of them being J.R. Ward.

I love, love, LOVE, her books so much. She also has another pen name, Kinley MacGregor, and has done historical romance with that but damn is her imagination wonderful.

She really gave me inspiration for my own race of vampires and made me love Greek and Roman mythology even more with her twists weaved into it. Her characters always makes me snicker or laugh while her stories are just, wow, amazing.

Yeah, as a mythology buff her take on the Greco-Roman, as well as Celtic and Sumerian, pantheons made me love the books even more.

^Yep yep, same here.

Though I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed she's dragging so many different religion pantheons into the story. ^^; Like she just pulled in the Christian/Catholic/etc. pantheon in Bad Moon Rising.

I love her books I have most of The Dark Hunters series and I want the rest of them because they just draw you in and don't let go until the end. I saw one of her other series in CVS and nearly had a heart attack.

@ Butterfly Demise: I dunno, I sort of liked that. I like that she's having all the pantheons exist on together instead of only one or two really existing at a time. I enjoy that in her books.

^I was enjoying that too until literally every patheon was beginning to join in. I guess all SK fans will have different views on that one, haha.

Hm... I read a few after seeing what a wonderful response she had in this forum, but I'm not sure. I did enjoy what I read, but they began to all seem very much the same. Different stories, yes, but all the same plot. It didn't really encourage me to read any others. =/

I love the Dark Hunter series! Zerek and Ash are my favorite hunters, but Tabitha and Simi totally kick their butts! ^.^
I have to laugh, I got my boyfriends mother addicted to the series!
My favorite book, not including the Handguide, is probably either Unleash the Night, or Dance with the Devil. No way I could pick.

As soon as I finish the book I'm currently reading, I'm looking forward to trying The League ^.^ I have high expectations.

Oh oh! Pick me! I love Dark Hunters!!! It's got just the right amount of cheese, romance, and interesting takes on mythology, as well as making new pantheons. One of my roommates at college got me into Kenyon's books. I tell people about them all the time who are interested in werewolves and vampires.
I love love love Vane and Ash. I would be hard pressed to chose a favorite. Maybe Vane..... XD I don't know!
I read all of of Dark Hunter books and the roommate I mentioned bought me all of the League books for Xmas, which I don't like as much as the Dark Hunter books.

I thought that at first, but they all do really have their own unique traits. It's really the story that connects all the books that draws you in. I'm reading Acheron right now and finding it VEEEERY different from her other books. It's really graphic... but I love her writing and how she wraps her stories with mythology (even if it's not really that accurate to real mythology, it's still intriguing in the way she puts it)

And The League series is written in a completely different way, especially since it's Sci-Fi based with other worlds being used.

I'm actually thinking of creating a roleplay that his half-fan based off of Sherrilyn's books. Please PM me if anyone is interested in this... ;)

I believe a more in-depth thread should be created for this author alone. :) There are so many aspects to talk about, especially if you have read all the books (guilty ) and can't wait until May when her newest addition to The League Series is to come out...

Btw, Acheron, your avi is fantastic, does the 'real' Acheron proud. Do you have a version as modern Ash, all punked out and fantastic?

@ Taviren: Well, I'll be honest, I find most authors to get a lil repetative after awhile. The way I see it, most authors have a formula they follow when they write, and even though characters and situations change, the formula is still the same.

Take your typical Dark-Hunter novel. Starts out introducing either the main man or the myth that drives the story, guy'n'girl meet under usually dubious circumstances, sparks fly but both parties are too stubborn to admit to the emotional attraction, big baddie shows up in someway shape or form, guy'n'girl have to figure out how to stay alive while saving themselves/their loved ones/the world, one or more of the gods/powers that be - usually Ash in the earlier books - steps in to help, Big Boss Battle, and in the end somehow their love saves them both. There is pretty much the entire series so far in a very generalized nutshell, and as far as I remember the only book that really deviates from this formula a great deal is Night Play.

But for me at least, it works. I read Kenyon's books more for her wit and the characters themselves then for the actual story, truth be told.

*waves to the crowd* hi my name is lin and i am a dark hunter addict...

but seriously, i can't go to a book store without picking up one (or five) of sherrilyn's dark hunter novels... i started out with sin and kat's book not knowing that the name of the book (devil may cry) wasn't really about the video game with same name *sigh*... but i am not all sad because that was the beginning of my addiction... you learn a bit about acheron in that story and i knew right away that he was something special... i waited until his book came out (appropriately titled 'acheron') and i read it twice, back to back... i knew by this point that he appeared in the previous books so i decided to start the series from the beginning... so far i have read 'fantasy lover' all the way through 'unleash the night' with wren and maggie... i find the books in between that aren't totally about the dark hunters, but the shifters and the like are refreshing, although i miss reading about ash...

i recently purchased 'dark side of the moon', 'the dream hunter', 'upon a midnight clear', and 'one silent night'... add 'dream chaser', 'dream warrior', 'bad moon rising' and 'no mercy' and i think i have the complete collection (not counting all the extra/related books).... i am so obsessed... so bad *shakes head*
