Quote:
The Sword of Truth is a series of eleven epic fantasy novels. The books follow the protagonists Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander on their quest to defeat oppressors who seek to control the world and those who wish to unleash evil upon the world of the living. While each novel was written to stand alone except for the final three that were intended to be a trilogy, they follow a common timeline and are linked by ongoing events that occur throughout the series.
this series was written by Terry Goodkind.
is obviously categorized under fantasy! ^^
now has a television show loosely based on the novels called Legend of the Seeker.

i much prefer the books.

has anyone else read the series?
how far did you get?
favorite book in the series?
favorite character[s]?
do you know all the wizard rules?

:P

Ah, such a great series/ Read them all (including the mini stories) and loved them all (with the exception of most of The Pillars of Creation.....that I just found annoying most of the time).

Favorite book...hmm, probably Faith of the Fallen followed by Soul of the Fire. Been a while since I read them. Fir FotF it was all about the story, despite less happening it was just so damn captivating. As for SotF, methinks it was one of the characters that was introduced that charmed me. Pity he never came back.

I Love This Series! I've only read Wizard's First Rule, and i'm working on Stone of Tears. I'm only as far as the Sister finding out about what's going on in the Palace, (hope I didn't give too many spoilers). I started to watch the show, and when you say "loosely", I say Loosely!.

Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid.
Explaination: They believe what they want to believe. Because they either don't know the truth, don't want to see it, or they are afraid that the lies they heard are possibly true.

Terry Goodkind's series is thoroughly enjoying :D I'm currently reading the Faith of the Fallen. I absolutely love Khalan, all I can say is FINALLY a woman in a series that doesn't have a man coming to her rescue every five minutes! She can handle herself and that's what I love and more importantly, the series doesn't stress beauty as much as it does intelligence which is something I absolutely love about the series because I feel that beauty begins with someone's intelligence. The books are very well written and each character is beautifully developed.

In the TV series, I like how they mixed it up, so it's like I'm getting something totally different from the book, yet similar which I loved.

I personally like the character Cara, though I find it hard pick anyone of the cast because they're all wonderful!

Oh Yes!! That is deffinatly one of the most awesome things about the series! Kahlan is strong enough to take care of herself, so she doesnt need Richard, or Zedd, or any man for that matter to "come to her rescue". And while it does mention that Kahlan is beautiful, it focuses more with the fact that Richard is drawn to her mind and heart. The only physical thing he really talks about is her eyes. And he only brings up her hair really when Kahlan herself, or someone else does.

The series... I only got through about 20mins... and I was too busy paying attention to all the things that I knew wherent in the book... But that's just me.

I had the same issue as Neko. The difference (even some of the relations between characters and what happened to them) were so different in some cases that the tv series just kicked me out and I couldn't get very far.

I know! The thing that really upset me was the way that Richard treated Zedd when talking to his dad in the show. It was soooo far off of the story in the books! And then the way that Kahlan treated Richard. And Zedd talking to his chickens wasn't in the book... I mean living on your own and needing company I can understand that he would start to talk to them. But in the books he didn't! :headdesk:

I've currently started the 4th book, Temple of the Winds. I can't seem to put it down! It's soooo good! I have a friend that comes over everyday and she's been saying that I need to put the book down and get some sleep and real food, or I'll get sick. LOL!! That is how much I like this one! It has more of a mystery to it then the other three that I've read. I'm still trying to figure out the prophecy and who the murderer is... No Spoilers please! My little brother already spoiled for me what happens with Nadine... But that's just how he is... :headdesk:

I've only read The Wizard's First Rule. My cousin had the second, but he wasn't finished with it when I finished the first one, so that's why I haven't read further, that and the library has all of them except for Stone of Tears. I do know that the wizard's third rule is

I'm about to go on to the 5th book. But I'm starting over because I'm wanting to log my views on the Wizard's Rules in my journal. I Think that they're very good advice for dealing with life on a whole.
