I was wondering if anyone on Menewsha has read the Belgariad seiries by David Eddings (Belgariad books 1-5, Malorean books 1-5, Polgara the Sorceress and Belgarath the Sorcerer) and what you guys thought of it- it's one of my favorite seiries and I'm on the Malorean, book 2 (Book 7 of the entire seiries) and I'm loving it.
Yeah...
So, just tell me what you think of it~

I read them and absolutely loved them. Silk is probably my favorite character. One of my favorite quotes is something Belgarath said in the Malorean. I forget what book though. I haven't read his other three series yet though. I bought the first book one of the Dreamers recently, but haven't read it yet. The Elenium and Tamuli don't have anything to do with the Belgariad and the Malorean though...
And I haven't actually read Polgara and Belgarath. I should though. I think I will. Right! I'll have to read those... after the twenty million other books I haven't read yet...
I can't believed David Eddings passed away! He was such a good author...

@Mehrana... I think which series you prefer depends on which you read first, a lot of David Eddings' characters are similar so the stories get a bit repetitive I think.. but you should fully read the elenium anyway!

@Obsidian- Oh yeah- Silk is SO funny! I just like the fact that when he knows that Belgarath is going to tell Polgara and Garion that a tree fell on him, he bursts out laughing~ And I, again, am only on book VII, although I read, like, three pages of Belgarath when I was around five. o.0
@carzeebear- I've never read anything else David Eddings, although my mum owns almost all of them~ *David Eddings fangirls*

I love the Belgariad and the Mallorean. The Eddings were an amazing team. :3 I've read the series so many times I can't even recall. xD Beldin is my favourite, besides Belgarath. <3
I've not read any of the other books they've written though, as my mum said that she didn't enjoy them. I'll pick up copies one of these days, but there are just too many other books I want to read.

The Belgariad is a wonderful, wonderful series. :eager: The fifth book is sitting on the head of my bed, begging to be read when I get off my lazy butt and do so. <3 The Malloreon is sitting by my monitor awaiting a reading, as is Belgarath the Sorcerer.
Dangnabit, Mehr, you've got me hooked! :illgetu:

Okay, I forgot this was here. XD

Indigoat: Oh, you really should read more of his/their books; I've started reading a few although the prologues are still just as long and boring. ^^
Latherz: Sheesh, you're on book 5 already? o.o You surprised me; It thought you were on book 2. XD
Yes, I did get you hooked- and I think I lost my copy of Belgarath the Sorcerer. T.T Or, rather, mum lost it. D:

Hey, when I'm determined to read a series, I'll read it pretty fast. xD Even if it's just one book out of the series. HP7? Seven hours. Belgariad? Most of it in less than a week once I finished with the first book. :eager:
Aww, that stinks. D: I may or may not have managed to misplace book five. owo; I have... an awful lot of books at my bed now. I think another book may have eaten it.

I've read and enjoyed the Belgariad series although its not my favorite out of they're works. I have to say that Redemption of Althus was by far my favorite book they wrote. Its not because its a single novel either. My favorite author is Mercedes Lackey, and most of her books are all part of one story.

I absolutely love the Belgariad series. They're some of my favorite books. I read the entire thing a few years ago and I'm probably gonna read it again soon. Haven't Elenium yet so I should probably do that too. Just gotta get my hands on the books first.

I'm actually re-reading the Belgriad right now. On Book 5-- I reread the series every year as a summer treat to myself. The other day, though, I got to thinking... I wonder if Hollywood would ever consider making the series into movie, much like LoTR or other such threads. Poking around, it seems Eddings actually had a wish that none of his books be made into movies. He preferred people to read and create realism through their imaginations. However, I've also noticed that movies bring a lot of attention to books, and inspire many people who wouldn't read to read.
Not much of a moral dilemma, but there is some intrigue. Would you like to see the books made into a movie despite his wishes, if a chance came up? Or should Beldin's filthy mouth stay hidden in paper and pen?
