Have you read a book (ever or recently) that has disappointed you?
For me, yes. It was about five or six months ago. I bought the book Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble. I thought it was going to be filled with romance like it said. But it was just a boring romance-less book. :P I was really disappointed I waisted my money on it. Well, at least I read a book and tried it out!

Oh :( That sounds REALLY disappointing. :( Is it just one book or part of a series?

OMG! I totally bought the same book a couple months ago. I've read half of it but cannot bring myself to finish it. I'm thinking of donating it to the library.
I like the concept, but I just think it's poorly written.

I read a book sometime last year called Chronicles of Solo: Moments away. Can't remember the authors name but the book was a great dissapointment. It made my eyes bleed TT-TT

Star Trek Academy: Collision Course by William Shatner. Great book until the end. It leaves the main character alone without a friend, a missing brother, and parents not answering the phone. It was supposed to have a sequel, but the publisher dropped it. I love reading books that are part of a series because you get much more adventure/fun from the same storyline. And I hate when things end xD

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein... it really looked like a promising book at first, and it was; but the references to specific racing games could have been toned down, it was just really hard to read. That and I seriously didn't like the plot twist at the end, it really seemed out of place. Overall, I was expecting something warm and funny; and while it was to an extent, it sort of paled in comparison to the overbearing sexual themes.
There was a lot of sex for a book supposedly told through the eyes of a dog. <_<

Yes just a couple weeks ago, actually. It was called: The Haunting of Alazabiel (sp?) Cray by Chris Wooding. I truly was looking forward to this because the plot, sounded so unique. It took place in Victorian England my favorite time period, another reason why I was so hyped for it. It had way too much description, to the point where the setting was more outlined than its characters. Plus there was so many characters, that it focused on that it was hard to tell where it was going. Sadly despite wanting to finish it I couldn't take it anymore and stopped about seventeen, or eighteen chapters in.

Wicked, the one that the musical was based off of. I got half-way through and stopped reading. I mean, it's a great book and all, but it takes forever to get anywhere. I'm still not even sure what the major conflict is. I'll probably end up finishing it sometime in the future.

I loved it. Super different from the show though.

I've never seen the show. But it was just going too slow for me.

I agree, it can be hard to get into. But I just kept at it. I think you'd love the show. It's definitely more upbeat and shorter.

Maybe I'll get back into it. It was one of the books I kept when I was getting rid of all the books in my room that I hated.

My biggest disappointments were "The Pearl" and "Of Mice and Men" both by John Steinbeck, interestingly enough. I just couldn't get through either one. I love reading, and I had no problems reading for my English classes way back in 7-9th grades. Those two books killed any expectations I had for school reading. T_T When we had our test on "The Pearl," I had no problems with it. I never even got past the 2nd or 3rd chapter of that thing and I got an A on the test and had little trouble finding appropriate quotes.
Another one that might be more of a disappointment book-wise was "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. Overall, the book was great. I got really into it and I loved the idea...and I guess the ending just wasn't something my 12 year old self could appreciate. =/
