Raymond E. Feist is one of my favorite Fatasy novelists, and I hardly hear of anyone reading him. The way he weaves all his novels together, along with the wolds in them is incredable. He has a real way of putting you IN the story, and in the minds and hearts of the characters. More than once I've been brought to tears while reading Feist.

The first I encountered Feist was in his writings about Krondor. The story Magician was a big leather bound book looking very out of place in my HS library, so I just had to drag it home to read! Following the story of Pug and Tomas, as well as the 3 brothers Lyam, Arutha, and the third I can't name, it's a secret, were just too interesting. As of yet, I've collected most of the Krondor series, including Magician: Master, Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon, Krondor: Betrayal, Krondor: Assassins, Krondor: Tear of the Gods, Prince of the Blood, The King's Buccaneer, Shadow of a Dark Queen, Rise of a Merchant Prince, Rage of a Demon King, and Shards of a Broken Crown. (My uncle lost my copy of Magician: Apprentice)

I feel that Raymon E Feist needs more recognition. How about you?

Do you have an author you think needs more notice? What does he/she write like? Why do you like them? Or are you a Feistanite like me and want to see more people reading his work? Post now!

I like Fiest well enough, but I actually prefer Eddings. I know he gets a lot of popularity though, so I'm going to say that one author that deserves more attention than she gets is Cecilia Dart-Thornton. I've only actually read one of her books, but I got so into it that I was panicking along with the main character during battles.

Sounds like a writing style I'd like. I'll be sure to look her up my next trip to the library!

I don't think I've ever heard of Raymond E. Feist but I've been looking for a good fantasy series to read so I'll look into it.

PervertPrince: You should read it! I was wary about them at first, but when I found out the hero's name is Pug, I had to keep going. That's just a very unique hero name :P

Well I have never had the honor to read any of his books yet but I found out about his books through my boyfriend because he had read the magician and other books of his. Have you ever read any book by HP Lovecraft?

Y'know, I just love the part where Arutha asings some pro boxers to kick his twin's asses into submission. "Fatehr would never hit us out of anger, but that doesn't stop him from asigning someone else to dicipline us." Heheheheheh

I read pretty much all of Feist's books during my high school years at my dad's suggestion. I got most of them through library loan but I do own the first three which I found at a library book sale. They were great! Pug was definitely my favorite character. I know he's got some new ones out now, I know of at least one trilogy that was added including "King of the Foxes" or something like that and I'm tempted to read them. It's been years since I've read any of his books though so I'm afraid I would be completely lost if I tried to pick them up again. I don't really remember any of the characters apart from Pug. Has anyone else read any of his newer books?

I'm pretty sure one of them is called "King of Foxes" which is part of a new trilogy. If I were on the computer I'd probably look it up bur I'm on my iPod right now. It shouldn't be too hard to find from a google search or Wikipedia article.

I'll have a quick look-up of that today and get it up here. Sounds like fun! I still need to get through the books on the other side of the Rift. I felt kinda lost when I picked up the first one and none of the characters I knew were in it, so I shyed away. I'll look the newest releses soon!

I found a list of his books in the order that they should be read. It looks like there are more books out than I thought. Here's the site, it's definitely helpful:

Written (Published) Reading Order | The Official Raymond E. Feist Website

I own the first three: Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness at Sethanon. I believe Shards of a Broken Crown was the last one I read but I'd have to check the list I have at my mom's house to be sure. His most recent book was published in March of this year and it looks like he's planning to end the series in 2013 with a title that seems pretty spoilerish to me. We'll have to see though. Maybe I'll try to get back into reading his books when I finish with the shelf of Star Wars ones I have yet to read.

I think the earlier ones were my favorite. The first set was really good and I really liked the Empire ones with Mara and the Acoma but after that the rest of the books start to get sort of fuzzy when the second generation of characters were added.

I like how they did that. Why stop a story with one generation? Not all problems can be solved in one gen, so why not add another? Heheheh, I like Pug's kids. Specillay Willam!

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it just makes things harder to keep track of. To me Pug was more memorable so I will never forget his character. The newer ones just didn't stick with me as much, I have a hard time remembering any of them really. If I had kept up with the books I'm sure I would have but it's been years now and things have grown hazy in my mind.
