those books make me want to kill people. i hate them so much it hurts my soul. They have to be at a second grader's reading level. Certainly not mine. I always feel like i'm talking to a preppy 13 year old girl. seriously? what 17 year old doesn't curse? and she's what those of us in fanfiction call a 'godmod'.

OOHHHH SHE CAN CONTROL ALL OF THE ELEMENTS, everyone loves her, she's the chosen one, she's not that stupid (she really is so stupid it hurts, in my opinion, but i digress)

and i just noticed that this was for FANS... so i have to leave  sorry about that XD

I didn't start cussing until that time. And if you had read further into the series, you'd know that eventually everyone turns against her because she messes up. Also, having the elements and being able to use them correctly and safely (for her safety) are two different things as she also learns later in the series.

Just saying. If you haven't read past the first book, you might be missing out of the good (or really horrible parts). I didn't pass judgement on Twilight until I read them all. And they're a train wreck. -starts reading- Why am I not putting this down? This sucks -keeps reading-

i read all the way up to the 5th book, and i just hated all of them. i finally stopped when i noticed that i was actually buying the damn things. I also read all of twilight and it was stupid too. HoN was so low on the reading level scale that i was surprised so many of the girls my age read it. her writing style is so primitive and childish... and preppy. like i said. i couldn't deal with her any more.

House of Night is better than Twilight.

Twilight is just about how important a boyfriend is.

House of Night has the eternal battle between good an evil in it at least. And I didn't find it that preppy. Because I can't stand too much preppy as some of my cousins know lol

But neither is Zoey my favorite character. Either Rephaim or Kalona are.

And I like the idea behind those vampires-being of Nyx. It's better, imo, than sparkly vampires. But that's personal preference. I also like the mythology behind it. (While not perfect, it does have some to it.)

Though Zoey is kinda.......hoeish? at times.

And if you;ve read through the fifth book.......why did you say everyone likes her? Every one hates her for a bit at least and she has to somewhat work to get them back.

I'm not saying this is the best vampire book series ever. It's not. But it's not as bad as some I've read. I like the Black Dagger Brotherhood more.

never read the black dagger.

but anyway, i said everyone likes her because once everything dies down and everything some people apologize and she's just always like 'oh my god' and 'heath... no wait... (the one poet dude here)'

she is a ho. its worse that she knows that she is, i think she said that once in like the second book, and doesn't do anything to stop it.

In my mind, she does stop/it's forced to stop.

Heath dies and her spirit is shattered (literally) and she's forced to move on.

Poet dude is dead. Dunno about that one vampire........then there's the red one.

Which, yes she's a hoe, but she realized that she messed up. And how old is she anyway? -can't remember-

And, depending on where she lives (Zoey or the author) people age differently. Here, if you act all mature at my age........there is nothing to do here for entertainment. There's not even a movie theater here. (Just commenting on the age thing)

And It's written by two people so it's possible that part of it is a compromise which is why you may not like it-it isn't just one person writing how they want-it's two people and they could be arguing over what should happen. -just an idea there-

The black dagger brother hood has a lot of sex in it. Just so you know. I still like it though.

And the book series-house of night-is probably geared to young teenagers (and I admit....I'm a bit above that age). But I think it could make a good rp with made up characters. I like the setting and the type of vampires and all.

I've read all 8 that are out so far, and unfortunately, I'd have to so far agree with chronic_heartbreak14. It is very "preppy" feeling book, full of you're oh so typical girly girl heroine crap. The not cursing didn't bother me, but all of her "brown pop" and whoring around does get annoying. How can you possibly have feeling about that MANY people without being a whore? 1-2, I can understand for a teenager with hormones. But 4-5? Really? Even Aphrodite, who's supposed to be that way, isn't that bad. I also hate how all of a sudden she goes from not knowing anything about Nyx and their world to every exclamation of excitement or frustration changing to something Goddess, i.e. "Oh my Goddess!" Seriously, she doesn't know much about Nyx but she's able to shout Goddess instead of "Goodness" or "Gosh" or etc already? That just bugs me.

And even though her friends do get mad at her, it was written very badly in my opinion. Would a real person really get THAT mad just because your friend didn't divulge her personal sex life to you? Maybe one stuck-up person would, but her 4 supposed best friends? For that long? To that extent? It's just so unrealistic. And it was bad how they all loved her instantly and so hardheadedly. Even more unrealistic. Yes, I know it's a fiction, but getting friends to like you and keep liking you isn't a fictional concept. The unrealisticality of it sucks (yes, I know it's not a word, but I like it).

Now, the whole Stevie Rae and Rephaim side-story is another thing. That part I like. That part I like a lot. It's very, well, good. So if the author is capable of better formed characters and personalities, why doesn't she extend this talent to the whole of the book? But that's just wishful thinking.

Overall, HoN stinks, but I'm going to keep reading just because I have hope that the author will make the first 8 eyesores worthwhile. Yes, it's a futile and depressing hope, but you never know.

I liked the HON series when I first started reading them, it was a nice change after the Twilight saga stared going on -.-
I forgot at what book I just stopped because of school and now It doesn't interest me anymore. Vampire books sound silly to me now.

that really annoyed me too! i understand she made a point in the beginning of the book, but she really easily switched from the preconceived human ideal of 'oh my god!' to Nyx. she seemed to accept everything that came at her with eagerness that was just ridiculous.

i also didn't like how, like you mentioned, her friends would get so pissed off about every tiny thing like 'oh you don't like christmas themed presents on your birthday? why didn't you tell us?' *is pissy for weeks on end*

it was just tiring to read about her 'normal teenage life in the world of vampires'. i can't stand teenage girl books... even though i am one. they all wear down on my nerves 'oh i love my boyfriend, but i like this guy, oh we broke up i'm heartbroken, oh no woe is me, school is hard, oh we're back together and everything is lovely'

very, very tiring.
