Disagree! The most awesome book character is the Fool (aka: Beloved, Lord Golden, the list goes on.) He's got this awesome thing going on where he poses as a girl for an entire trilogy and nobody notices. It's awesome, also his skin changes colour, he's an albino- then he's slightly tan - then he's a freaking golden! Yeah, that's my favourite. He's from Robin Hobb's books.

One of the better characters I have read about is Phedre from Kushiel's Dart. She is such a fascinating character with a strong voice throughout the book. There is nothing like a masochistic courtesan who turns into the story's hero who helps save a nation ;)

In my opinion the most awesome book character I have ever came across would be Artemis Fowl. He's just a kid..but a freaking brilliant kid! Love him~

Personally I like Kate Daniels from "Magic Bleeds" by Ilona Andrews!
She's a bit like Max {from Maximum Ride} but she's human {with some god blood mixed in}.
Same snappy remarks, trained to fight and survive kinda thing.

Kate's like not a girly girl {at all} seriously in the book I read she used a sword to melt her friend's weight bench together.

Personally I like Ben Holiday from the Landover series by Terry Brooks. He is you average run of the mill lawyer who ends up King of a magical Kingdom.

Dr. Max Aue from The Kindly Ones.

I love him, to his very core. I'm really conflicted because on one hand, I wish I was born into his time and story so I could be close to him and know him and be his friend. On the other hand, that would mean I would be an S.S. officer during Nazi Germany and I don't think I'd be able to handle that kind of gruesome work.

He is very intelligent and educated. He can speak multiple languages and listens to classical music. He is very brave, and more than slightly sadistic. Slightly masochistic as well. And he is slightly off his rocker. And he's gay. And I'm probably insane for thinking he's hilarious too. Because I don't think he tries to be.
