I think that if it's done well, another Harry Potter book could be quite cool. But at the same time it could be completely sucky... so I dunno.

It's never a good idea for a series to go on for too long because after a while the quality of the stories go down as the author runs out of good ideas to use for the series so no I wouldn't want there to be another book.

I agree, I sort of wish it... but that's too much! She ended the series perfectly, I absolutely love how it was ended!
I don't care for movies, I truly am a books kind of girl, but the movies are really good too.
An example of a series going too long is Twilight, she should have ended with the first or first two books.

even though you are now banned which is kind of funny based on the last post here
guess a mod hates twilight lol jk anyways yes it hit that much money based on the fangirls that went for it. the majority of the girls were very very young and in that "emo vampire love" Phase, alot of them woke up and came to their senses to see how horrible it was lol.
some of them liked it still sadly they haven't realized what a bad story it is sparkling vampires= epic fail.

I've thought about this a lot before, and I don't think I'd mind if there is another book sometime, but I'm not overly fond of the idea, either. I think it really depends on what the author decides to do with another book, if she ever does decide to write one.
If it was a sequel involving the children of the original characters, I could actually see it going very badly and coming across as a mediocre repetition of the original. On the other hand, though... I really would like to know whether Albus Severus ended up being sorted into Slytherin or not. xD
A lot of people also seem to think she might do a prequel about Severus and Lily. I'm kind of uncertain about that as well; the few chapters in the books with information on that era are my absolute favorite part of the series and I'd certainly love to have an entire book about it, but on the other hand, I sort of like how it's vague enough that we can imagine some of what that time was like for ourselves. And, admittedly, if she decided to tell it from the point of view of the Marauders, it would probably take a while before I forced myself to read it.

J.K. Rowling is an amazing author. She brought us an entire world (detailed and fully flourished beyond what the books show us by several other things made by Miss Rowling) of magic, as well as seven great tales about a boy, his friends, and his greatest enemy. The way it ended was fitting, perfect, and if Miss Rowling ever decided to make a sequel series it would have a perfect precedence. Whether we want her to or not, I'm sure she'd made the better choice.
She left us off with a new beginning with Albus Potter, as well as several other things we could explore if we're curious enough. Maybe Albus Dumbledore's youth, the Marauders' years at Hogwarts, and as The Half-Blood Princess above me mentioned, Lily and Severus' friendship. :)
I'm curious about what happened during those times, I want to know in greater detail. But then, where's the magic in knowing when there's so much more magic to be had wondering?
