So, I'm doing a majorly large project at school about what the majority vote is for writing. Whether the people like fast-paced, detailed, or in varied. Or First-person (narrator is main character), second-person (narrator is minor character), or third-person (narrator is not a character). Or if you don't want to vote, then you can just add a helpful comment... Or, you know... Leave. But any contribution to this poll will help greatly, and you will have my sincerest thanks.

Pretty sure that 2nd person isn't when the narrator is a minor character. I've always known it as when the writing is from the point of view of someone saying "you" like someone writing a letter, or a diary.

More relevant though.... I think it depends on the style of book mostly, but I find that I enjoy books better, and get more into them when the pace varies. Then you get the details in bits that need them, like romantic scenes, and you get the fast paced action of the fighting scenes. It gives the book feeling and more relate-able emotion. I found when reading the Wheel of Time series, (well, the first three books at least) was that the action scenes weren't very exciting because they were so detailed. I mean, what kind of person notices absolutely everything when they're running for cover? It didn't convey the right adrenaline.
At the same time, if a book isn't detailed enough, a book's slower scenes can lose emotion. The romance is taken out of a moment that is rushed through. So obviously, variation is best.
