Ok, I just finished watching the last movie for the second time and part of me teared up a little bit. After all I was 11 when the first Harry Potter Book came out (and yes I had the book before most people even knew what Harry Potter was) and I grew up with harry. That impatient waiting for the next book each time, the linning up for the midnight showings of the movie (I even dressed up as Tonks for the last one). I sort of feel like a piece of my childhood has ended and it makes me sad. There will be no more Harry Potter.

I did not make this thread to be either a love it or hate it sort of thread because frankly those annoy me a bit. I wish to discuss the ending of the Era of Harry Potter and the effects on society. Also where you sad that the last movie ended? Are you happy to see what the next phenomena will be? Or are you like me and have doubts that anything can be as great or as widely accepted/hated as harry potter.

Also for those who would mention Twilight. As big as Twilight Is/was it will NEVER be as big as harry potter is.

For me the Harry Potter era has not yet ended. I'm a beta tester for Pottermore, and for me, at least, the series is still alive and kicking.

I am curious to see what the next big thing will be.

oooooh I am very disappointed I found out about the beta test too late. Is it worth the wait?

Also I do hope its not over yet, I would love to see the series continue with the children.

For me, Harry Potter won't be over unless my grandchildren (assuming I have them) never read it. As long as there are children discovering the series, it will live on.

@Carzee- That is an incredible point. I still continue to read them and as always continue to urge others to do so as well.

I Agree with Carzee. I think harry potter will outlive me at least I've actually been debating on reading the books to my boys soon they're almost old enough for a chapter a night instead of picture books XD.

I'm also one that didn't make it to the Pottermore beta *epic sadface*
Do you guys know when its going to be available to everyone else? I've looked but cant find a date X_x

I don't know but I heard around the end of Novemeber :D

And Harry Potter will continue to live on so long as there are people who love to read books on magic and adventure

I had the books before the first film came out, and from that point on I was hooked. I could never get into midnight showings of the films (where I live you have to be eighteen or over to get into late night films) but I always went out to the stores to get the latest book as soon as it was released. So due to that I have a first edition of The Order Of The Phoenix, The Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows (I missed The Goblet Of Fire because I was sick when it came out).

The only film that I never saw in the cinema was The Deathly Hallows Part Two because money was really tight when that came out, so I've still not seen it yet. ):

The end of the Harry Potter era is a pretty sad thing for me...

I love Harry Potter. It's by far my favorite book series. I'm currently reading it with my boyfriend, and we're having a blast! :)

I read the first 4 books, but stopped after that. I've seen all of the movies except one. I think it's a decent book series but I never understood the hype surrounding it.

I want to join Pottermore when it is finally available to the public, but no one has really explained what exactly it is.

You're joking, right? If you don't understand the hype, why the hell do you want to join something to hardcore as Pottermore? That's like not liking prostitution and wanting to work at a cabaret.

I'm curious to know what it's like. Is it a forum?

Besides... joining the site doesn't mean I have to remain active in the site.

Overreact much?

And by the way... a cabaret doesn't promote prostitution... It's more like a strip club than a brothel.

don't mind neuz, she's a beta tester as well.
Pottermore isn't a forum, you literally play through the books.
To be a beta tester you kinda have to be wrapped into the hype. I wasn't when the series first started but in the last 2 years I've become a potter head.

They're still whores, love.

I'm not overreacting. If you haven't read all the books, Pottermore is not the place for you. That would be like me wanting to join a Twilight-based website, even though I've only read two books and detest the thing. It's ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. But maybe you're just senseless, that works too.

Pottermore is commitment. You're not commited.

If Pottermore really is just playing through the books that sounds right up my alley!

There's no need to call me senseless...
I still don't get the hype. (Dressing up like characters, seeing the movie in theatres multiple times, waiting in line for tickets or the book for hours/days)

Well I hope you two don't get your discussion too heated! In the end we all love Harry Potter yes? ;)

And I totally agree with you Cora I want to join too! T.T I actually didn't know you get to play through the books :O If that's the case when Pottermore goes public I MUST simply join Ravenclaw! Poor Luna always got picked on it's really unfair to her and I'm always felt bad for her too >3<

Luna is a genius though.....so people vastly misunderstand her.
