I read this book last night, and had some interesting thoughts about the way John Green writes. Does it seem to anyone else that he writes in a similar way to how he talks in his videos? Particularly his "Thoughts from Places."

If you don't watch John Green's videos, just discuss the book and what you thought of it.

I have noticed similarities between his narrative and the way he actually talks, but I think that's to be expected. It's rare that we get such a nearly-whole picture of an author like we do with John. I think that if other authors created that many vlogs for that long a period of time, we'd see similarities in how they talk and their writing as well.

That being said, it can be a bit jarring when you're reading The Fault in Our Stars and suddenly Hazel's inner monologue is coming through in John Green's voice.

 I hadn't watched as many videos at that point, so luckily that didn't happen for me.

I watched the entire vlogbrothers backlog in almost exactly a month in September-October, then TFiOS came out in January, so... quite fresh in my mind!

Intense! I just sort of watch the ones that pop up in my recommended videos.

It's definitely worth doing if you're into their videos. It's so cool to watch their videos evolve. :)
