I'm very curious as to what J.K. Rowling did with Snape in the last book. I'm hoping he'll still be on the good side.

Melody 04-20-2007 07:09 PM

I love the 3rd one the most. I cant remember the subtitle for it at the moment though. XD
I heard that one of the main characters was going to be dying. Like in the last book. Before people had read it they all freaked out saying it was going to be ron or hermoine. oh well guess it wasnt that time. And i dont think it will be this time either.
Good will triumph. because i said so XD

remember people shes writing the books for her kids! she wont let evil triumph. its a bad message for kiddies.

Princess of your Heart 04-21-2007 12:34 AM

Despite good special effects, and a fine performance by Maggie Smith, the film contained far too many characters and subplots. It was 1 hour way too long, and the ending was totally forced and had little or no meaning to it other than to scare little children. Daniel Radcliffe shows no emotion to his character, and makes Harry Potter out to be a complete nerd.

Sorry. Just typing this from another thread that got locked.

1. fav character = Severus Snape
2. fav book = Goblet of Fire
3. fav house = Slytherin [I think thats how you spell it]
4. fav couple = Snape and Dumberdore ... LOL

I'm not sure which one of the many Harry Potter topics to post this in, but I find it interesting that J.K. Rowling finally announced that Dumbledore is gay. [Link]

I like that she also had a few other press releases to tie up loose ends after the final book. I won't post them here because of spoilers of course. :3

Chaitealatte 10-20-2007 11:48 AM

At the above...

...Oh HEAVENS yes! xD

My stars!

I'm all giddy. And splurging myself all over the Harry Potter forum in Gaia (well, splurging for Chai = a couple of posts.)

-laughs-

I just read the article, and what I found extremely humorous is when she said, "Oh no, the fan fiction!" I'm going to check out fanfiction.net tonight to see if there are any new ones...xD

MelonyLouise 10-20-2007 06:46 PM

So, Albus does men, and then Abeforth (did I get his name right?) does goats ... what is wrong with the Dumbledore family!?*

I'm bisexual I find nothing wrong with gays it was a joke please don't kill me! O:

Ferra 10-20-2007 07:20 PM

*spoiler alert* (Although I suppose that's obvious. XD)

Ah ha, yes. It's quite interesting. Sadly, it's unrequited though as mentioned in this article. [Link] (I'm surprised they didn't say how Gellert Grindelwald felt about that in the Leaky article. =/ Oh well, goes to show news gets translated differently all the time.)

@MelonyLouise: I dunno what is wrong with them. XD But it makes them interesting at least.

Chaitealatte 10-21-2007 09:19 AM

@Ferra - Uh-uh. Wouldn't completely trust that.

Wouldn't completely trust the press anyway. xD

Apparently - why is everything rumour and hearsay? I WISH I'd been there! I bet many people do! xD - in the original transcript she doesn't say unrequited.

But the comparison to Bellatrix and Voldemort would suggest Grindelwald's mind was too busy with other things to notice Dumbledore's affections (if he wasn't keeping them tightly reined - homosexuality, under whatever name, was illegal then)... it doesn't bode well.

Butthatjustmakesitmoretragic!

I sincerely hope she elaborates more on the workings of her mind. xD

Ferra 10-21-2007 09:31 AM

@Chaitealatte: Well I did read three articles and they did all say different things. XD But it's their job to make them sound different enough I suppose.

I was pretty sure that the unrequited part was direct quote though, but I might have misread it. Either way, things obviously didn't work out between them. ^^; It would suck to be famous for killing the person you loved most (and praised for it).

secretdae007 10-21-2007 07:05 PM

I was so surprised when I found out Professor Dumbledore was gay. I think that just makes everything interesting though, especially because of the time frame he lived in. It's tragic though that the Dumbledore line ended D:

Ferra: Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald. That doesn't mean he killed him xD;;;

Chaitealatte 10-21-2007 07:27 PM

*nodnod* Remember, Voldemort had to go to a prison in Germany - was it? I'm fuzzy on minute details! - to interrogate Grindelwald in hopes of gaining information on the last owner of the Elder wand...

...Which of course was Dumbledore. Well, actually, it wasn't; there was that whole weird funny swapping of hands thing I'll need to read again. But it was buried with him nevertheless (Voldemort thought Snape was its owner and that's why he killed Snape...) and it might be inferred that in his years in prison Grindelwald's learnt his lesson and doesn't want Voldemort to find it (perhaps not to disturb the grave of the man who could have killed but instead took mercy on him/old friend/lover/unrequited lover) because that wouldn't bode well for wizards and muggles alike.

I wonder if he ever visited him in prison. : O

Ihateschoolwork. I'm just going to end up ignoring it, if my mind carries on like this. xD

secretdae007 10-21-2007 07:35 PM

Hm, that is an interesting thing to ponder... I don't remember if it said whether or not Dumbledore had seen Grindelwald again after that "magical" time they had together xD;;

Ferra 10-21-2007 07:46 PM

Whoops, you're right, I dunno what I was thinking. XD That's what I get for being tired and trying to think of details. Yeah, you're right he wasn't killed, but rather imprisoned forever. Which in a sense amounted to the same thing since he hardly had a life there.

I still stand by that it would suck having to fight someone you love and become famous for bringing his demise. =/

Syrinx330 10-21-2007 08:13 PM

Did anyone else find out that J.K. Rowling decided that Neville's wife was Hannah Abbot!? I am so ticked off, he's supposed to be with Luna!!!!!

-storms off in a fury-

Chaitealatte 10-22-2007 08:03 AM

Were Luna and Neville ever in a relationship at school?

I can't recall them being so.

And, hey, for once some characters don't fall in love with and marry their childhood sweethearts! xD

secretdae007 10-22-2007 01:13 PM

Actually, I never, at any point of reading the Harry Potter series, thought that Luna and Neville were made for each other >.>; I just thought the two of them together would never work... Personally, I thought that people just paired them together so they wouldn't be alone >.>

Of course, I wasn't expecting Neville to marry Hannah Abbott... I could see Neville getting married but not to really anyone mentioned in the books ^^; I have to admit that I would be picky about who Neville would marry only because he is one of my favorite characters of all time xD

Ferra 10-22-2007 04:24 PM

Rowling also mentioned the guy Luna marries, and he seems to have similar ideals that she does, so it all works out. XD I agree, I never really saw those two together and most pairings have even less basis in the books to go off of.

Syrinx330 10-23-2007 09:22 PM

xD Sorry at my ranting, just after years of fanfiction and everything, you kind of get possessive over relationship things.

Do you know who Luna ended up with? And how about Draco? Better not be Pansy!

Rolf Scamander, who is the the grandson of Newt Scamander, married Luna Lovegood.

For some reason, I don't think Draco married Pansy only because I feel like JKR would have mentioned her name. When you see Draco in the 7th book, it just says he is with his wife and kid.

Kandayo 10-24-2007 04:06 AM

Did anyone hear about that Dumbledore hype? O:
I'm fine wth him being homosexual.

ReinedeLutin 10-24-2007 11:22 AM

Ya, when I heard about that, my eyes bugged out and I screamed. In My Mother's Ear. She almost killed me, lol. I never expected that to happen. I only dislike it because I wanted Minerva McGonagall and Albus to get together. Now J.K has dashed all of the hopes for after death relationship for the two. I really dislike that.

Somercy 10-24-2007 04:01 PM

A guy in my Environmental Science class actually punched me (in front of the teacher) for telling hm Dumbie is (was) gay.

MelonyLouise 10-24-2007 09:49 PM

Out of shock or homophobia? Not that he should have punched you either way, but the shock one might be less annoying to me, rofl.
