Where did you guys find out Luna married? and Neville? I can't find that at all.
I did hear about Albus Dumdbledore though. My dad told me. Kinda scary, even though he never really seemed like that though. Why did she make him homo? No reasons really or that I can think of... |
Anglie, it actually fits pretty well with the seventh book, even though it's never explicitly mentioned in the book.
He loved Gelert Grindewald, thus dabbled in the dark arts for awhile because he was blinded by his love, and then once he realized what Gelert really was (just a bad man), he fought and killed him. Background story angst on all sorts of levels, right?
Why did JK make him homosexual?
Why did she make Harry heterosexual? Okay, well, you catch my drift. x3 I don't know how it is for her, but I know when I'm inventing characters I get "senses" about these things. For instant some of my characters' sexualities won't flex, at all, I can't imagine it, and I'm someone who believes this is something of a spectrum. Although it's erroneous detail and the story would still work with Dumbledore and Grindelwald's friendship being platonic (and on the latter's half it still be, or completely... manipulative, depending on how you read it), his affection for Grindelwald does make some things clearer. Finally meeting somebody as brilliant as himself, Dumbledore overlooked his faults, and that's easier to do in love. The Gindeldore fans were certainly on the mark. xD It did occur to me that they were perfect for slash when I was reading the book - and I discussed it after - but I don't think any of us suspected it would canon. Besides, it's never mentioned whether he had a wife or an old female flame -- people have just assumed he was heterosexual until mentioned otherwise. |
I didn't think that J.K. Rowling declaring Dumbledore gay really did anything for the series. It seems like she must have been getting asked by the gay community if he was gay or something and wanted to publicize some more liberal/tolerant ideals. Nothing wrong with that. Just sort of seems like a sell-out/unnecessary sort of move. Oh, well.
I don't have any real problem with Albus being gay. Gay characters in children's literature is all good in my bookds. I just think it takes a bit away from his message... Did he have secret relationships? Why didn't he want them to be known about? I just assumed he was alone because he was very hurt over the episodes with his family. It's quite tragic to think that he was still harboring a love for Grindelwald if that is the case... :( Ooo, I'd also like to read J.K.'s statements about the characters' future marriages!!! Links please? <3 |
Ok, i dont know if anyone else saw this site but i was looking for a picture of a wand for one of the fan based RP's and i stumbled on this.

Melony: Ooh, that makes sense! :3 But I thought Dumbledore loved Harry. x___X;; What I find really disturbing, is that Harry, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione are all freakin RELATED. I mean...ewww. Harry related to Ginny and Ron and Hermione just ruined my fantasies. I dunno why, but I just find it disgusting. Best friends end up being related. x____x; |
I love the series, but it is a bit a part to be because I read it all when I was of age of fourth grade, and also I only read the british version for a while until later when it became popular in the american version.

^^
Oh I love Harry Potter! I read the last book: HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS. I some of its movies and books.
|
the books are the best some of the movies like 3 and 5 could have been better at the end but otherwise they are good
|
I personally think that even if she always had it in her head that Dumbledore was gay maybe she could have revealed it sooner. The way she did it it just seems like she didn't want to say anything in any of the books about it because she was worried it would hurt her sales or something.
Someone told me that George ended up marrying Angelina. What the heck? She goes to the ball with Fred. That just seems like she had a thing for Fred but since he was no longer there she was like "Oh well. George looks just like him. I'll just marry him instead." Of course it could have been the type of scenario where they were just grieving together and ended up bonding and then falling in love. |
I've read all the books, but at this point the only ones I can really remeber anything from were the first two. Maybe that's because I only own the first two movies and haven't seen the others. I find the movies to be highly overrated, sure the effects are cool but besides that they are really nothing like the books at all.
|
Oh god...It was the saddest day ever when I finished the 7th book. I cried so much because it was over...Now...I can only hope they do the books better justice in the movies.
|
No offence, but i htink they went a little over the top in the harry potter movies. Moaning myrtle was perfect! Except....well...in the Fourth movie they mucked it all up, Harry doesn't go so far acrooss the field. *shaks fist at the directer* OFFENSIVE!!!! The books are awesome, but I must say, J.K. Rowling sorta rushed through the last book, she just wanted to get on with it, and see how it goes. Yesh. HArry and hermion and ron being related just ruins it all. Best friends shouldn't be related!

Personally I didn't even like the epolouge in the seventh book. It was just too fake and 'perfect happy ending'.
It happens 19 years later, which completely ruins the ability for someone to imagine what kinda things happened later in Harry's life (personally I didn't like him and Ginny together, but there's no hope to split them up with the way she wrote it, and I don't want to pair up a 38 year old Harry in my head T___T just doesn't work the same). She does a terrible job of describing things, it gives off the feeling of being a rush job and she just wanted to get it over with. And and AND she never tells you what Harry decides to do for a career >o<. I know, I'm ranting x___x I'm just very unhappy with the ending of the book.... D: and that scene where Dudly turns all nice and stuff sounds too plastic, totally fake. It was just so abrupt and out of character, even for the situation. :\ I wish she had taken her time. |
I would have waited another 5 years if that's what it took for her to finish it and for it to not feel rushed. I was upset with the epilogue and most of everything else in the books. She was killing people just for the heck of it, or so it seemed. And Harry coming back was the lamest part of it. Just because he's the main character. Psh.
Everyone else was there and fighting and therefore just as willing to die on behalf of their friends if it meant saving them so why couldn't everyone else come back too? Bah. Al the characters I didn't like lived and most of the ones I adored died. :? |
Yeah I could see her killing off all the characters that are known to be every one's favorites just for added dramatizes >o<
I can see that it's a war and everything and that people most definitely die but there were much more favorite characters dieing than less popular ones... Though I was really expecting her to kill off Ron or Hermione. In fact, as much as I honestly love their characters, I think it would have been the right thing to do :\ but she needed mention the deaths of more than just the close cast too (D: I feel like I contradicted myself) |
Lulz, Harreh Pottah?
@;; I hate how all the characters I liked died. And don't even get me started on that epilogue. D: @Freakishly Human: ;-; You too, huh? Mm. I'd have waited any amount of time needed for her to come up with a better ending. I'm not saying that it should be all sunshines and rainbows, everyone lives, yadda yadda, but...really now. It's like she let the fangirls write the epilogue. And character development for some of the characters who actually have some merit for development? Psh. D; |
@Alexive- I could see her doing that, too. She only killed off the people that were popular. Aside from three certain characters(I still won't say for spoiler reasons, but honestly, would this information even be considered a spoiler now?). And she even TRIED to kill off Hagrid. I really think that she was just trying to anger the fans so that they'd stop bothering her about the book. >_<;.
I also hated the epilogue- I liked finding out who married who, and what the children's names were, but she could have written it better. Then again, I also hated the whole novel. :(. I would have waited several years if it meant that book 7 would have been better than it was. I also hated that she was leading up into Voldemort's possible 'redemption'(by having Dumbledore say that no one is born evil, and by telling all of that stuff about Voldemort's past, AND by saying that he fears death.) I mean, he'd never be GOOD, but if she wrote him as he acted in book 5, and 6, he would have at least ATTEMPTED to repent, if it meant saving himself. I also hate it that she made him so STUPID in this book- he kills people that could have been useful to him, he MYSTERIOUSLY knows about the Elder Wand, something that no one mentioned prior to this book, and something that was only a rumored artifact from a children's story. He also basically LET himself die, instead of trying to do anything to save himself. >_<; I just hated that about the book. I also hate the way she had Peter Pettigrew die. It was just so.. stupid. I always had figured he'd join up with Harry as soon as he realized that Voldemort was losing, but nope. It was just so anti-climactic. :(. I also hated that she had Neville end up with the person that everyone would ASSUME he would- I would have loved to see him marry Luna. But he didn't. :(. I just hope that the movies somehow improve the train wreck known as Deathly Hallows. But I doubt it'll happen. :( |

Yeah, the epilogue seemed rather.... strange. I also found it quite funny for all those little kids who had made children of the cannon characters for Role Plays years ago, all for them to be obliterated by Rowling in her epilogue.
I may be a bit sadistic, but I giggle quite a bit at the thought of their anger. Either way, I still thoroughly enjoyed this series. I've been with it since I first found out about it in my 5th grade year, when the third book was already out, I believe. I've had many a daydream to escape to the Harry Potter world, and stil catch myself fantasizing about it now and again. This series and world will be lovingly missed by it's enormous fanbase, no matter what. |
I love the book, I just pretend that the epilogue didn't exist. It has nothing to do with the rest of the story, but I was happy that Harry was happy he deserved it. Although the sappy storybook ending instead of something with depth like the rest of the series would have been brilliant.
|
I've already read the last book x3
None of the 3 die! But a lot of other people do ): It was pretty sad.. I love reading/watching the books/movies I feel like I'm part of it xDD |
I've read all the books and seen all the movies and I quite enjoyed them. However, I never thought they really deserved all the hype they got.
My favorites in the series have to be a tie between The Sorcerors Stone (or The Philiosophers Stone :) ) and the Order of the Pheniox. I loved the first one because it introduced us so wonderfully into the new world of wizards that Rowling crafted. The OotP I liked for all the new characters it introduced. My favorite character was, hands down, Luna Lovegood. She was just awesome. Second favorite goes to Remus Lupin. I'm rather dissapointed with how it ended. The last book just seemed a bit rushed to me. Plus of my two favorite characters one died and the other wasn't even mentioned in the epilogue. *pouts* Now I shall egarly await the movies. They have all been very well done in my opinion despite leaving out large chunks of the books at time. |
I think the movies are a total waste of time. The books are great.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone-I have a soft spot for the first one. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets-I liked this one,it was quite dark. Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire-not the best ones... Order of the Phoenix-Loved it! The Half-Blood Prince-Probably my least favourite. And...The Deathly Hallows was the penultimate, perfect end. |
