The vampire novels I've read are Interview with the Vampire, Lestat the Vampire, Queen of the Damned, Armand the Vampire. Those are Anne Rice's works. Which I absolutely love.

I read Twilight. The first book I found repetitive, the second book was just angst, the third felt like more angst to me, and the fourth I didn't even bother. Blah.

I've read Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause which was a good read. ^^-

I've read Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz.

And finally Trinity Blood the Novel by Sunao Yoshida.

My vampire collection is lacking >>'. I need to get some more. I've been meaning to read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. It looks like fun. ^^

I will spare your eyes. NO TWILIGHT!!! It's like a freaking fifth grader wrote it for giggles. Bella is a very bad role model as well.

Any Vampire Fans?

My favorite book series is Cirque Du Freak. 2nd is Twilight. I love Cirque Du Freak more because i love how Darren Shan describes his vampires as being ugly and grotesque. It seems more realistic than vampires being beautiful and perfect like in Twilight.

new moon was terrible. sorry. it just is

If you like/love vampire books, I'd recommend the Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, The Noble Dead series by Barb & J.C. Hendee, the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer (of course), and there are a few others that I can't remember the names of right now. I'll get back to you on them . . . .

The best vampire book I've ever read is In the Forests of the Night, by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

My 10 year old sister was reading it; which suprised me after I took a glance at it. She's not the fastest reader I know, and doesn't have a very large vocabulary. It seemed much too complicated for her, but she stretched her mind to read it because it involved her favorite animal... a tiger... -.-

Alaunt 02-11-2009 09:58 PM

Oh. What is that book about?

miss.nox 02-14-2009 08:50 AM

The Vampire Diaries, by L. J. Smith, is a very good series.
It has a vague resemblance to the Twilight series, but it was much
more interesting in my opinion.

I've been meaning to read The Anna Strong Chronicles as well, but I haven't gotten to it
yet. I've heard great reviews about it from my friends, though.

I loathe the Twilight series, though. I find that Bella is an annoying Sue,
and the whole 'sparkling in sunlight' part of the story just put me over
the edge. I'd rather have a vampire burst into flames or something when
they touch the light, thanks.

But anyways, that's just my opinion of it.

I was till Twilight.

I don't read many of these, but I know a lot of girls reading the Anita Blake stuff, so it can't be all that bad.

friedrice 02-18-2009 05:13 AM

Twilight and the Chronicles of Vladamir Todd. :D

I'd reccomend J R Ward and her black dagger brotherhood series. They are adult orientated but extremely good or I thought so anyway. Its a series about a group of male vampires who fight lessers(humans who hunt vampires created by the omega with no soul) to protect the civilian vampires. I love the bond between the brothers who are like a military unit.

Well this book not only has vampires, it also has magic! I loved it so much I pass it to all of my vampire loving friends. A girl goes out and gets kidnapped (the girls name is Sunshine...or is that her nickname?!? oh well) she is thrown into a ballroom with a chained and starving vampire. They end up doing many things, other than him killing her...I can't say much more or I will give away the whole story....

I actually really hated that book. It really creeped me out in an ew way. I think it was the "sweat turns me on to a thousand year old vampire" sex scene. I really love her stuff, so I was surprised. I liked the plot, but I ended up not liking the book.

cuddlyemokitten 02-21-2009 03:08 AM

Since we don't know if vampires actually exist, and they probably don't, we don't know how they really are.

Everyone has their own view of vampires and would like to portray them as they want. There is no right or wrong way. Some like to have them burn in the sun and some don't. When I roleplay a vampire, I don't like mine burning in the sun.

Some find them as romantic beings and others find them as nothing but monsters. They have their own views.

I like the Twilight vampires. ^^ And I do like Rice's vampires.

Edit: Oops fogot descriptions
The Vampire Diaries is about two vampire brothers who fall in love with the same girl.
The Last Vampire Series is about a vampire called Alisa who is the last of her kind and some Scientists are after her.

What she said these books are really good plus there is also the Night World series by L.J. Smith though that's about a whole host of supernatural beings but some of the books are about vampires including the first in the series "Secret Vampire"

Oh and the 5th and 8th (I think) of the series I talked about above are about vampire too.

havenmasters 02-22-2009 10:29 PM

A friend of mine is reading a series a books about Vampires. The first is called "Vampire Academy" and it's by Richelle Mead.

I'm not entirely sure what it's about because I haven't read it, but it caught my attention(my sister and I are also into most things vampire for some reason). One of the characters is half human and half vampire, and this caught me attention more than anything because it is a concept that I have been playing with lately.
The books look very promising and if I am able to acquire and read one, I will let you know how it turns out.

As for Twilight, I have read those and I think you're going to enjoy them.

xdark_secretsx 02-23-2009 12:05 AM

Wow. People still post in here. :P

& havenmasters I've read "Vampire Academy" and the other books in that series. It's good, not the best but it's interesting. :D

My favorite vampire books would be:

Nightwatch / Daywatch / Twilightwatch, by Sergei Lukyanenko (Not just about vampires...also has shapeshifters and magicians. I enjoyed these because they were quite different from your typical supernatural fair.)
The Vampire Hunter D series, by Hideyuki Kikuchi (These can get pretty repetitive after a while, but they are quite addictive.)

Edit: Remembered one more, heh. The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova (Not your typical vampire book. It's the search for Vlad Dracul...a semi-historic search for him if he were truly a vampire that was still living.)

fiarra 03-01-2009 01:02 AM

Jeice: You are now +5 awesome. I love the Watch series. Have you read Last Watch yet? Because it is SO GOOD. Perfect ending to the series imo.

xXKanikaXx 03-01-2009 01:02 AM

I LOVED the Twilight series. Vampire books are my favourite EVER!! You should check out Vampire kisses. Those are pretty good. I LOVE VAMPIRES!!! lol

Starts out with Guilty Pleasures - Laughing Corpse - Circus of the Damned - etc. I'd start chronologically.

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's excellent if you're looking for a really well written historical book which also has to do with vampires. I adore her books, and I adore St. Germain. Can't remember titles at the moment.

The Anita Blake series is my favorite of all time - I even wrote my college entrance paper on it. It's genre is "sci-fi-romance" but it's also hilarious, gory, and completely addicting!! As for it sounding like "pr0n", it's romance, and a little kinky at that. What can you expect from a series that starts out with the title "Guilty Pleasures"?

Haha! You are now +10 awesome in my book for telling me about Last Watch! I've been so caught up in other books I didn't even think to look for another in the Watch series. *runs off to purchase that now* Thank you so very much!

CreatioExNihil 03-01-2009 07:31 AM

I would like to recommend a book that isn't very well-known. It's called Blood Sucking Fiends by Christopher Moore. It's funny and dirty yet still romantic. There are also some rarely added vampire traits described in the novel.
