I am currently reading....er...re-reading Terry Goodkinds, Wizards First Rule. I've only read up to book two because I don't have the third book and would rather not skip important parts of the book and continue on to the fourth, and I don't like reading on computers.

Started and finished Hunger Games yesterday. Almost finished with Catching Fire as I speak.
Good, fun books.... Albeit terribly predictable..

I'm currently reading so many, I start one and then find another I want to read and start that one. I think i've got at least 5 James Herbert books on the go, a Stephen Fry book, a Dragon Age novel. . . And countless yaoi mangas/novels. I think I should train myself to stick to just one at a time. . .

Ironically enough it's a book for my botany class called "The Botany of Desire" by Michel Pollen (I know ironic last name huh) and I'm almost sad that I've finished it. It's about how and why the four main domesticated plants (apple, tulip, marijuana, and potato) came about and changed thru human interaction. I guess there's a PBS series about the book too that I'm trying to track down. It's not an overly scientific book (anyone can read it) and it gives you a whole new view on the plants we take for granted. I would recommend it to anyone!

I'm reading a book called The Martian Viking. Its an older book, so far on the planet earth being jobless is against the law and they punish people by sending them to the moon or to mars to work on either the lunar mines or to mars to be experimented on. im at the point were they are experimenting on the guy giving him and illegal drug called a "Onee". something that was banished from earth a while ago and is illegal. the "Onees" is a metallic object that once is touching your skin it causes psychological hallucinations. pretty interesting story actually you should give this book a read.

I'm re-reading a bunch of series to tide myself over until January, when a handful of books come out in paperback. I've been anticipating most of them for at least two years, and I can't wait.

I just finished Ruth Benedict's classic work on Japan after World War II: The Chrysanthemum and the Sword. Although it's pretty out-dated, it explains a lot of the modern Japanese ideas of conservative culture and traditions. Also, her suggestions for how Japan should proceed with developing its society after the Occupation seem almost to be predictors of the future.
Anyone else read it? It's really good, and incredibly readable for a work of academic non-fiction!

Isn't his name "Pollan"? I read his The Omnivore's Dilemma. He's got quite the following now, though I understand that people really close to current agriculture disagree with him on a lot of the practical issues of feeding a planet as populated as ours, but I don't know enough about it to take a firm stance. :)

Yesterday i started and finished reading, 'Agatha H & The Airship City' by Phil and Kaja Foglio. It's the first book of a webcomic (Girl Genious) to book conversion, and was really rather enjoyable, if not somewhat short.
I'm not toying whether to finish the Neil Gaiman collection 'Smoke & Mirrors' i started months ago, but never really got into, or a recent purchase, 'Ka'fa'ka on The Shore'.

And I'm currently Reading Possessed by Witold Gombrovicz. The first book I read by him, I have only read a few pages so far. Hopefully it will be good.
I just finished reading Handling the Undead and Harbor by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Also some other horror novel that I can't remember the name of right now. Been reading a lot of scary stories the 2 last weeks xD
@Sun I finished Kafka on the Shore just some time ago, it took me forever to get through it for some reason (I usually read fast), but it pretty good in my opinion.

Draciolus: I read the Robert Jordan series many years ago, before the last book was done... and there was such a long lag between the then-last book and the actual last book, that I completely forgot all the intricate plots and characters, and was just not willing to go through 10,000+ pages to remind myself. :)

I'm reading it through for the second time...since I just recently got the 13th book...and then I'll have to wait for the 14th book, which hopefully comes out before I finish these 13. And, I'm hoping 12 and 13 are as good as when Robert himself was writing them.

Reading (for the 4th time) Warrior by Jennifer Fallon, book 2 in a trilogy.
If I had a nook, I would've been able to read all those new books I'm waiting for.

Huh, I've totally lost touch with the Robert Jordan worlds. He died, right? And it's someone else finishing them?

Yeah, he passed away in 2007. And Brandon Sanderson is finishing the books for him. Ive read a little of Brandon's works before, and I'm hoping he can pull off the 4-5 story archs in one novel at the same time like Robert did.

"The Myth of Choice" by Kent Greenfield
It's nothing too special. The author presents some interesting ideas about consumer culture and how we're constantly influenced towards making our own "decisions," but the book just isn't well written. He injects way too much of himself. I would much rather see him prove his points logically with scientific sources, instead of relying on anecdotes and personal experiences. As it is, this is just the kind of book that you would bring up in cocktail parties so that you'd have an interesting short story to tell.

I'm not sure what to read right now.. I can't afford to buy new books, and the books I want aren't even out yet.. and I'm kind of bored with the books I've got.
.. Maybe I'll re-read the Crystal Line trilogy.
I still can't believe Anne McCaffrey passed away.

I'm currently reading The Witches Magical Handbook by the Frosts. I'm in the process of highlighting things that either don't make sense, or aren't accurate. I'll eventually write a blog on it and other books.
Before I started reading The Witches Magical Handbook, I was reading the Secret Life of a Satanist by Blanche Barton.
