^ That really is a great novel. It's awesome to finally find someone else whose picked it up!

I got Lord Vishnu's Love Handles by Will Clarke as a gift, and I finished it all in one sitting. Entertaining and fun, but there's not much to it. I'm a little disappointed. So many people have recommended it to me, and it took so long to find it (or have someone else find it for me, I guess) that I expected something a bit more in-depth. Ah well...

I'm reading The Idiot by Dostoevsky right now.

  • I'm currently reading Visual Journeys, a tribute to space artists edited by Eric T. Reynolds. It's a collection of stories inspired by paintings of what some artists thought space/space travel would look like. The authors picked a painting which was paticularly influentual to them and wrote a story off of it.

  • As usual, I'm reading a few books. I'm still reading The Origin of Satan by Elaine Pagels, I haven't gotten very far despite how interesting it is.
I'm also reading some folk stories and fairy tales both from Favourite folk tales from around the world collected by Jane Yolen and from a collection of fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm.
I'm reading some stories from Nordic mythology because of a LARP I'm making, two Icelandic books I'm using mostly.
Then there's Jane Eyre, which I temporarily forgot about but will pick up again as soon as possible.
And I just started reading a book my mum gave me a year ago or a couple of years, I can't remember. It's called The extraordinary and unusual adventures of Horatio Lyle and it's by Catherine Webb. I'm not sure what I think about it, I'm sort of hoping it'll get better. Apparently the author was very young when she wrote it and it shows a bit. But I've yet to get into the story properly, so meh.
I think that's it for now, mostly anyway. I have a few books I'm always looking at every once in a while but they're not really novels or anything.

I'm about to start the "Undead"-series by MaryJanice Davidson, looking forward to that :D There are currently 6 books in the series, and they're about Betsy Taylor, who is killed by a car and wakes up dead. The vampire community is convinced she's their prophesied queen, and we follow her in her vamipreish afterlife. I bought the first three books, and even though I haven't started reading yet I think I'll really enjoy this series :D

I'm currently reading the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer! I'm sure many people have heard of it. (if you don't know, it's about a girl named Bella who falls in love with a vampire named Edward).
I'm also reading Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's killing me- I don't get half of it XD
But I went to a play of it a couple days ago and it really captured the essence and beauty of this play. ;]

I've just read Night by Elie Wiesel (about the Holocaust) for school, and had this annoying test on it, in which the teacher requested minor details that are easily overlooked, such as the number for Elie's tattoo.

I am also getting ready to read the books my friend gave to me for Christmas - The Great Train Robbery by Michael Crichton. From the descriptions it sound like a very exciting plot. Though, I really am not sure it's my particular cup of tea. Well, my friend has been trying to get me more into this type.

Right now I'm reading a book called "Monster of God" It is attempting to explain why we fear lions and tigers as well as other members of what we know as man eaters. So far it's been pretty good. Which is saying a lot sence I typically like action and adventure books like "The Da Vinci Code."

I am currently reading The Key to Rondo by Emily Rodda, I'm on the second or third page and I LOVE it.

Taken from the official site:
Quote:
Important!
Turn the key three times only.
Never turn the key while the music is playing.
Never pick up the box while the music is playing.
Never close the lid until the music has stopped.

The old music box, with its strict rules, has been carefully handed down through Leo's family for hundreds of years. Painted scenes of villages, mysterious forests, a castle on a hill and a queen in a long blue gown decorate its sides. An astounding secret is hidden beneath its gleaming black lid. Now it is Leo's music box, and although he respects the rules, his least favourite cousin, Mimi Langlander, does not. When the rules are broken, Leo's ordered life is changed forever as he and Mimi plunge together into a thrilling quest in the fantastic world of Rondo.

'The Key to Rondo' was released in Australia in Novemeber, 2007.
It is due to be released in the USA in Feburary, 2008.

Alchemy Unlimited, it is quite a funny book I must say. A bratty man named Sebastian, and a homosexual dragon. The comedy and romance in this book is just hilarious, the old man who takes Sebastian on to work for him is quite the weird one. He is the man who knows the dragon, and Sebastian falls in love with some girl. It is a lot of fun to read, perhaps someone else will like it as well. I know my mother sure did (my ex's mom) ha ha.

I am currently reading Battle Royale by Koushun Takami - for fun [Note: It's the novel, not the manga]... because I also have a book report due... so I'm reading two books at once.

For my book report I have to read The Five People You Meet In Heaven... Bleh! Sorry but to me... it's really boring. Haha.
